At least one of them will be English unlike your foreign legion of mercenaries whos loyalty is to their wallet rather then their love of the club.

Ohhh..sorry, Liverpool were buying english during the summer? I didn't realise that...when will you be applying for nationality for the players?

We bought two English players thus so far this summer while your club has got rid of the English players you did have apart from Milner and one suspects his time will be up soon as well.:)

Average players do not a good player make :)

The issue isn't the foreign players, but forcing clubs to use them. If there wasn't that in place, players would go to clubs to get playing time, until they improve. Now they go as soon as they show any inkling of talent, too soon in my opinion, and thus their price is inflated.

Judging by reports and Wengers own comments it doesn't look like Arsene Wenger will sign two players to cover DM & CB roles. He's after a versatile player. Can Howedes play as a DM ?

Arsenal cannot afford to rely on Arteta, Flamini and Chambers as a last resort but they also cannot afford to throw crazy money for William Carvalho. William Carvalho would tie up the transfer window for Arsenal. Theres talk of Pod going but that most probably depends on Reus. Is it too much to ask for both William Carvalho & Marco Reus

I just hope Arsene doesn't have to settle for the second best option

but because the fraud is reporting it I don't have much hope in it happening :D Bring on the big guns!!!!

How many did liverpool get rid of?

is it net number that counts? Or are you counting age again (you win, you do buy the older players)

Glass half full Cobby.

He should work well with Pelle. His record thus far may not be the best, but has he had the service?

As for the price.. well we got twice the value for the players we have sold, so I guess what goes around comes around. ;)

Yes I went a bit far with the midget comment, was just trying to emphasis that imo the club are one player away from having a squad that'll really push for the title and tricky attacking players aren't that one player, no matter how good they are.

They'll all be up to it sooner or later. It's part of the game now, like it or not. Some bite, some don't. You all got your fantasy teams ready?

Routledge had a decent chance there. Had we been playing Chelsea or City they'd have carved us right open.

It seems some are not convinced by MU's signing of Luke Shaw.

Quote:

Luke Shaw has yet to make his full-blooded Manchester United debut, but The Times football editor Tony Evans has already questioned the wisdom of the Old Trafford hierarchy shelling out £27m for him, suggesting his current injury lay-off may not be his last.

"Perhaps a big-money move and a huge pay cheque has come too soon for this 19-year-old," Evans writes.

"For all his talent, the left back was high maintenance at Southampton. His diet and lifestyle were kept under close scrutiny. It was less a matter of discipline than a young man who had not realised the importance of taking care of his body if he is to have a long career.

"He may not get such care and attention at a big club who have a clutch of big stars. He needs to grow up quickly."

Almost an hour to go, opening game and 9 players out - nothing to be too concerned about yet. The back line is shaky though.

It was always known that the defence needs tightening. I think the fact they've kept the number 5 shirt open is an indication of at least one more player is coming in.

The thing is Russ they need two quality centre backs at least and they don't grow on trees.

No reason to panic on the first day of the season, as long as we get rid of the useless Felaini and bolster that defence. And let's not forget Swansea have played pretty well too.
