It wasn't a good show John. The production was terrible also.

Eurosport have a card this coming Friday featuring recent Vitali Klitshcko victim Manuel Charr. It's coming live from Romania, home of horse meat. I'll give it 20 minutes with a beer to see if I can get into it.

Staying up tonight for Rees Vs. Broner. I really like Rees but think Broner is far too quick and strong. Rees has shhown nothing but confidence this week and footage from his training camp was impressive. I also think Rees and his trainer might be feeding the American journalists misleading fight tactics to try and throw Broner on the night.

Think Broner wins however if Rees performs to his best, and Broner starts slow, you just never know.

Boxnation have launched a prediciton and scoring app.

Could be a nice little addition. They use a similar system on ESPN's Friday Night Fights. Been waiting for Boxnation or SKY to launch something like this. Gives the fans at home the chance to score a fight live. Hopefully Boxnation will broadcast how the fans are scoring each round.

Frank Warrens 16th March bill is all but dead. The event in Wembley Arena was supposed to be the biggest event of the year so far however Ricky Burns Vs. Miguel Vazquez has been called off. George Groves has quit Warren Promotions and will officially join Matchroom Sports today. Dereck Chisora has also been removed from the bill.

Nathan Cleverly Vs. Robin Krasniqi is still on at this time however with the main event gone and tickets still available, it looks like the whole event will collapse.

I'm starting to think it's all lies. Rickys manager is not happy at all:

http://www1.skysports.com/boxing/new...-Vazquez-clash

I can see Ricky leaving Warren real soon. Also apparently Nathan Cleverly has been suffering from a stomach bug?!?! Total rubbish.

Although he is a share holder, Boxnation need to find a way to drop Warren. They'd be better investing in Hatton Promotions and Amir Khan to fill the British dates. Warren is far too reliable. Since Boxnation launched this is about the 6th Warren event to be cancelled. You don't get that on SKY from Matchroom.

it would be good if sky sports bought it out and put all the uk promoters under 1 roof with the money they already give to matchroom and add the £10 a month i dont think its impossible. they could then say we have 52 saturdays and they all get together and put so may shows a week at uk time from matchroom, warren, maloney, hatton goldenboyuk and sauerland then use the smaller promoters coldwell, greaves, wood, and others to put on 52 decent shows on friday nights and then get the goldenboy, toprank and other usa and mexican promoters putting fights on during the night most saturday nights.........if only carlsberg did boxing!

Some great nights of action coming up. I'm sure we'll get Alvarez Vs. Trout on Boxnation. The other big shows featuring Rios, Bradley and Donaire are Top Rank shows. Boxnation tend to leave it to the last minute to try and buy the rights. I want to see the Golovkin fight at the end of March from Monaco.
Would love the Top Rank show from China:

http://boxrec.com/schedule.php?count...&tv=&SUBMIT=Go

I'm not sure why it's not been done already however Boxnation need to secure a proper content deal with Top Rank.

Whenever Warren is backed into a corner he comes out fighting, excuse the poor boxing pun. An article in The Independant today confirms Warren and his family own 70% of Boxnation!

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/pe...r-8527887.html

If Warren is struggling to compete with SKY in terms of British shows, it would be in his best interest to invest in as much top action as possible from home and abroad to bolster his channel. Amir Khan, Floyd Mayweather, Top Rank, Hatton Promotions and Anthony Joshua are the types of names and promotions I'd love to see on the channel.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Warren smiles again and makes this arresting revelation: ‘Amir Khan is coming over to BoxNation for his homecoming fight next month. We will also be the British broadcaster for Floyd Mayweather’s comeback against Robert Guerrero on May 4 in Las Vegas. And there will be a lot more for the boxing fans to watch.’

Chad 12-03-2013 13:32

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Other interesting info from Frank interview:

"‘No exaggeration – unlike the reports of my demise – we peaked at 240,000 for the Haye-Chisora fight last summer. Then, during the quiet period for boxing in December, January and early February we dropped to 120,000 . But it’s rising again and we will climb back above 200,000 fairly shortly."

"He admits his disappointment at not securing Ricky Hatton’s one-and-only comeback fight but is turning that to his advantage: ‘Ricky hoped for a big pay-per-view audience on Primetime but they fell short of 100,000 buys. I feel sorry for him. He lost money because our guarantee was more than he got."

There is also a suggestion in the article that HD is very much on it's way!

Chisora is not everyone's cup of tea but I find him entertaining to watch.

If they market next month correctly, I think they will do record subscription and viewing figures. £10.00 for one month with no minimum term. Join on the 06th of April and cancel on the 06th May and you'll enjoy:

12th April - Yaquib Kareem v Paul Butler
20th April - Nathan Cleverly v Robin Krasniqi
27th April - Amir Khan v Julio Diaz
27th April - Sergio Martinez v Martin Murray
27th April - Danny Garcia v Zab Judah
27th April - Peter Quillin v Fernando Guerrero
04th May - Floyd Mayweather v Robert Guerrero
04th May - Daniel Ponce De Leon v Abner Mares

Also the following shows are expected to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks:

13th April - Nonito Donaire v Guillermo Rigondeux
20th April - Saul Alvarez v Austin Trout

If SKY are now charging £17.95 for SKY Box Office, £10.00 for all the above action is a must.

I had been reading through their Twitter feed. They mentioned a few days ago they had made an approach for the fight.

Boxnation tweeted the following yesterday in reply to someone asking if they are showing the fight on Saturday:

"Hopefully mate, although we haven't heard anything yet. If we do, we'll tweet it out. Cheers."

I suppose this doesn't mean they've actually made a bid. I was reading on one of the boxing forums that only Boxnation have shown an interest in showing the fight.

It could be that someone has invested in the channel. Maybe BT have bought a stake in the company however this is probably unlikely. Maybe it's an investment opportunity. Boxing fans can by a share in the channel. Whatever it is I hope it means they can launch in HD and cover more boxing content.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

I've just watched the press conference myself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ_wYLXAvj8

14:00mins into the video Frank states:

"There will be an announcement from Boxnation tomorrow concerning funding"

He seems pretty chuffed with himself. He also states at 18:00mins:

"You'll see tomorrow that Boxnation are turning a big corner."

Rumours are now rife in the land of boxing forums. One suggestion is BT have invested and will offer the channel as part of their own sports package from the summer. Another suggestion is Golden Boy have invested in the channel as part of their UK expansion. Remember it wasn't too long ago The Guardian suggested BT were after Boxnation.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Really bad news for boxing fans, especially those who don't have SKY Sports or Boxnation.

Channel 5 are set to drop boxing from their programming. Channel 5 last week had an internal review of their programming, especially sport, and it looks like boxing is the victim.

http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/...eubank-jr.html

Frank Maloney was interviewed last night and broke the news. Watch from 2 mins 20 secs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=q8pUoWV35Lg

Hennessy Sports have confirmed next weeks James DeGale Vs. Alexander Brand fight, which was due to be televised by Channel 5, has been cancelled:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=q8pUoWV35Lg

If true this leaves Tyson Fury, James DeGale, Chris Eubank and Kid Galahad without a TV home. Mick Hennessey has very limited options. SKY don't want him but they do want his fighters. Eddie Hearn recently landed Groves and Burns. Could Fury, DeGale and Eubank be next at Matchroom?

Mick Hennessey could move to Boxnation or try and hold out for the launch of BT Sports in the sumnmer. However Ricky Hatton found himself in the same boat 8 months ago and still doesn't have a broadcast deal for his stable.

Very grim!

Well it wasn't a deal with BT in the end:

http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/aim-and-s...nnel-boxnation

"Media Corp., an AIM-listed online gaming company, said Wednesday it has entered an exclusive agreement with Boxing Channel Media to supply betting services to its TV channel, BoxNation.

The three-year deal marks the firm's first white label contract win - enabling it to capitalise on its Intabet software platform on a revenue sharing basis.

Media Corp. will provide the platform for an internet sportsbook and casino to be integrated with the BoxNation website, offering a full range of sports betting and casino games, with an emphasis on boxing.

Through the servie users will be able to place bets through the proposed BoxNation betting platform.

Phil Jackson, Chairman of Media Corp, said: "This represents the first application of our white label service. We are delighted to win the contract to deliver betting and, over time, casino products to the only dedicated boxing channel in the world.

"BoxNation has a large and growing subscriber base and we believe boxing and betting go hand in hand and we are looking forward to developing a profitable and long term relationship with BoxNation as they grow into a leading sports channel around the world."

The deal is subject to an initial feasibility assessment period of three months.

The share price leapt 25% to 0.15p by 08:55."

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Intresting info in an e-mail I've just received from Boxnation.

"George Groves to feature on undercard!

Saturday night will also see the return of George Groves to B0xNation screens! He fights Syrian born Baker Barakat in an 8 round contest, which, assuming he wins could be the springboard to challenge the winner of Abraham vs Stieglitz later in the year. Barakat won't make it easy for Groves, however - his 54 fight experience (37-13-4) will mean he'll be used to a number of different styles and fighters. Tune in early to catch the Hammersmith star try and make it 18 wins out of 18."

Whilst the fight isn't great, attracting Khan to the channel is a massive plus. I never thought Khan and Warren would ever work together again!

Missed last nights show. Hope they can get the Rios fight on Saturday. An official deal with Top Rank would be amazing. Deals with golden Boy, Top Rank, Sauerland and Warren would mean guaranteed boxing on the channel every Saturday.

Frank Warren confirmed today that Boxnation HD to launch in 5 months time. I'm guessing September as that's when the boxing season returns after its summer break.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbFFY6ag6wc

4 mins 50 seconds

Later in the interview, at about 27 mins, Warren finally links Boxnation to BT!

I recorded it and watched it at the same time. Even thought the event ran over by about 25 minutes my SKY+ box recorded the whole show. I noticed the SKY EPG didn't change to the next advertised programme right up until the boxing finished. SKY must have a dynamic EPG that doesn't change if it recognises a programme is running late. This will allow the SKY+ box to keep on recording the show even if it runs over by 2 hours.

Before I jumped ship, as they say, I never really had a problem with boxing on Virgin. I had 1Tb TiVo and would just add an hour onto the end of any boxing I intended to record.

One plus I've found by joining SKY is that I'm able to record action from the red button. SKY broadcast a 2 hour undercard show on Saturday on the red button from 7pm. I was able to record this and I'll be watching it tomorrow.

It is a good move by SKY. I believe they are reacting to feedback from boxing fans who have suggested SKY haven't shown the same commitment as Boxnation by showing full cards. Would SKY have made this move if Boxnation didn't exist or didn't show full events? I'm guessing no.

It's healthy to have 2 broadcasters invested in the sport. Hopefully it'll drive both companies to improve and innovate. It's great that both are embracing TV fans live on the night by way of Twitter and the Boxnation scoring app.

It's boxings equivalent of Pepsi Vs. Coke :D

Boxnation to bid for Haye fight:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle4864881.ece

"A yet there is no TV deal in place to screen the bout, but BoxNation will bid as the specialist broadcaster while Sky might also be tempted to bust their boxing budget."

Boxnation have confirmed they will be showing Saul Alvarez Vs. Austin Trout on the 20th April.

Noticed on the SKY EPG that B0xnation are showing live boxing from 2pm this Saturday afternoon but no specific information is given. Buncey hinted that they will be showing the debut of Zou Shiming this Saturday afternoon. It's a great card from Top Rank:

Brian Viloria Vs. Juan Francisco Estrada

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr Vs. Yasutaka Ishimoto

Roman Martinez Vs. Diego Magdaleno

Zou Shiming Vs. Eleazar Valenzuela

The broadcast is scheduled for 4 hours. What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! This should be officially confirmed within the next 48 hours.

I was also interested to see Jim Rosenthal interview David Haye on Bunces Boxing Hour. Jim hinted at the end of the interview that it was good to see Haye back on Boxnation. It looks like the return of David Haye wil be on Boxnation.

Scott Quigg could be one of the fighters. He did mention a few weeks ago that he would leave Haton Promotions if Ricky didn't secure a fight soon. Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell would be good shouts too.

Thinking outside the box you've got Chris Eubank Jr. When he joined Mick Hennessy his Dad said it was crucial to get regular TV exposure. I've noticed he has not fought since December and has nothing scheduled. With Channel 5's commitment to boxing in question, Eubank might be looking for a move.

Another fighter who is not tied down at the moment, as far as I know, is Commonwealth champion Denton Vassell.

Pretty much what I plan to do also. It's a monster night of action! The Boxnation card starts at 7pm however SKY have boxing from 6pm on the red button.

Here is the line up and fight times for tonight on Boxnation:

7pm - Joey Taylor v Sid Razak - 6x2 Minute Super-Featherweight contest

7.20pm - Liam Walsh v Scott Harrison - The WBO European Lightweight Championship

8.10pm - Mitchell Smith v Gavin Reid - 6x3 Minute Super-Featherweight contest

8.40pm - Paul Butler v Yaqub Kareem - The Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Championship

9.40pm - Steve O'Meara v Chas Symonds - 6x3 Minute Light-Middleweight contest

10.15pm - Nathan Cleverly v Robin Krasniqi - The WBO World Light-Heavyweight Championship

Follow on - Frank Buglioni v Darren McKenna - 8x3 Minute Super-Middleweight contest

Follow on - Dereck Chisora v Hector Avila - 10x3 Minute International Heavyweight contest

Anyone with SKY who doesn't subscribe to the channel can watch the first 2 hours, 7pm to 9pm, on a Freeview basis. That means they can enjoy roughly 4 fights including Liam Walsh v Scott Harrison. In fact there is also 2 Amir Khan documentaries being shown from 5:30pm on a freeview basis also.

Not to worry. I live next door to an shop which is open until 10pm and there is a pub right accross the road that sells cans, on the fly, until 1am.
