Is Premier Sports set to launch on Virgin Media?

Premier Sports is the only channel I can think of that you will need to pay extra for.

I have been informed that TNA Impact actually starts on Challenge on Tuesday 8 February at 10pm and that that will be its usual weekly slot.

The monthly specials (US PPV's) will be shown on Challenge the Wednesday night following the live taping.

To add to that there are also a number of catch-up episodes from when Bravo was shut down, but not all of these seem to appear on the Virgin guide.

iMPACT 1 - (airing Thu 3/2)
iMPACT - 2 (airing Fri 4/2)
iMPACT - 3 (airing Sat 5/2)
iMPACT - 4 (airing Sun 6/12)
iMPACT - 5 (airing Mon 7/2)

Genesis PPV (airing Wed 9/2)

A request has been made for these to be series linked too.

If you can give me some more info about the Sunday broadcasts that you think should also have the series link, i'll pass the details on :)

Channel One announcement from Virgin Media:

http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginm...hannel-one.php (click link for full release)

Quote:

From 6am on 1st February 2011 the Channel One, Channel One + 1 channels and Channel One in On Demand will be closing down on all services, these include Virgin Media TV, Sky and Freeview. The decision to close Channel One has been made by the channel provider Sky as they believe it airs programmes of a similar type to those on Sky 3. Their aim is to provide a single channel that shows general entertainment programmes and have decided Sky 3 will be their main focus for this.
While there is no replacement for this channel, some of Channel One’s programmes will find new homes on other Sky channels, particularly Sky 3. A range of Channel One’s most popular programmes like Star Trek, Gladiators, My Wife and Kids and The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be moved to other Sky channels. More details will be released and publicised by Sky soon.

I have been given no updated news on Sky on Demand launching on Virgin Media in months.

But virgin are updating their on Demand area by area until the 18th of Feb. So Sky on Demand may not launch until after that date so that every area can have it from launch.

RIP Channel One although VM clearly couldn't wait to get shut of it, they removed it an hour early at just after 0500 with Jerry mid flow!

EPG also updated to reflect Sky Living rebrand. I was hoping they might surprise us with a sneaky new channel or something but sadly not.

edit - even the +1 was chopped at 0515!!

Ah maybe it was all platforms then although the advertised show, Jerry Springer was broadcasting and all of a sudden was gone.

Channel (G)one and soon forgotten me thinks.

Challenge (well a placeholder) is now on Freeview to replace it.

Sky users on DS are also reporting (following maintenance at 0500 which explains the early closure of Channel One) that Sky have reduced the resolution of Challenge and Sky Living to 544 x 576. Unless my eyes deceive me the PQ is worse on cable too.

Now why might Sky make SD PQ worse I wonder (£10.25 springs to mind!!)

Now why might Sky make SD PQ worse I wonder (£10.25 springs to mind!!)

hazard guess to drop numbers so ultimately it becomes convient excuse to ditch it.

Dont think they ever want any off the channels but some of the programmes. Its not suprising they done this and its quite frankly PETTY & CHEAP from SKY. Sadly they making money because they DONT DESERVE IT.

I seen few who on M are extremely angry these channels aint got replaced they got short changed big time at least us have all channels got quite few channels. Still angry with SKY but more so with VM. All we seem to be getting is shrinking channels gets replaced by rubbish fillers +1.

I appreciate media boy telling this stuff but infuriating that its take VM eons to sort deals out while sky seems to get them much quicker. But suspect sky maybe paying channel owners backhanders to delay deals to upset us.

M users got little better than freeview and thats poor selection beyond main terrestial owned channels.

Glad Ive got all the channels but man VM goto get there GAMEFACE on to sort there mess they created selling out.

M is a "free" pack though and is no longer "sold" by VM. It's worth noting that those on M also get free Catch Up TV.

We’re giving you more control with Sky Sports red button.Soon it will be even easier to catch your team on telly, thanks to the Sky Sports red button.
If they’re not showing on the main channel, all you need to do is press the red button on your remote control, and Bob’s your uncle, you can scroll through all the games and select your side. It’ll work for all 2011-2012 Barclays Premier League matches, plus any UEFA Champions League match, ATP tennis, US Open, Heineken Cup and more. Plus, your clever red button unlocks loads of news and stats, too. And an extra bonus, from late spring you can use it to track down smaller sports events, games or highlights, too. Just keep an eye out for the red button appearing on your Sky Sports premium channels. Nice one!

VM can't win. If they say something its , "yeah whatever, coming soon whenever", and if they say nothing its , "Virgin don't communicate with their customers enough. They should say something."

That's speculation. :)

In fact, didn't VM remove the option to add on TV Choice to M+/L? So now their adding an L-sized option back for nothing.

Totally agree. If they communicate to their customers about future plans, people moan and if they don't say anything people moan.

If it takes as long to load the new red button services as it does currently, then most matches will be over by the time it brings them up!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.

Indeed it's potentially bad news for all pay operators including VM across europe. Will this affect more than just football, what about films? Will we be able to get cheaper movies and can our existing pay services.

But I have read many interesting articles saying there are ways broadcasters can get around this in the long term. More and more satellites are coming online with strictly targetted spotbeams making it extremely difficult to receive foreign broadcasts with all but the biggest dishes. Astra 2D which is widely used for FTA broadcasting to the UK is a case in point. My brother cannot get a reliable BBC signal in Germany even on 1 metre dish.

Sky, ESPN, Canal+ and the likes won't take this lying down, no chance. One commentator said subs could actually go through the roof if broadcasters have to buy european wide rights as opposed to domestic rights. We might be getting excited too early!
