The reason they were banned? The Heysel disaster the year before. Some Liverpool fans don't know their own history, basically celebrating the fact 39 innocent people were killed.

I didn't see that, but its out of order if it happened

Edit: Now i see the image as it didn't show at first - sick mofo's!

LOL. There is a running gag between Arsenal supporters about the fact we have a few players who look like lesbians. I think people are unfair on the striker issue. He is a good judge of players and maybe there just wasn't a player available. I mean how many top, strong forwards are out for sale at the moment? If there was a unknown genius out there Wenger would buy him. I hear Remy is a maybe this summer. We need a forward, a good defensive midfielders who can also cover in defense, and a goalkeeper. The forward would need to be able to play on the wing because the 4 - 3- 3 formation does not suit a out and out striker let alone 2 of them.

I'm not an expert on the Arsenal squad but I always thought another Viera was your team's priority?

I still thought it was funny though :p:

I don't know. It's hard. Song has grown quite nicely into a good defensive midfielder position. He is a first team player. So do we have two of them? It's hard to see how tactically that would work. They could play just behind Fabagas and Arshavin. (if they are still around). Then we have the forward problem. Does Persie, who is too good to be left out, go out on the wing and become another attacking midfielder with our new, strong 'complete' forward up front? Or do we buy a strong forward who plays on the wing? Either way that leaves Diaby and Walcott out of the side. We're already leaving out Ramsey, Wilshire, Vela and Eduardo. I can see why Wenger has trouble with buying a forward. Arsenal are so close to a complete side with Persie fit.

I do think a strong forward that can play the way Arsenal play and plays along side Arshavin and Persie would work.

Wenger and Benitez should really skip the press conferences. The Aston Villa story really was a joke and lord knows why O'Neill played along, maybe he was quoted out of context as well. Phil Brown doesn't speak anymore and that's one less distraction for his team. Wenger speeches after will always contain a comment or two against the winning team (or lack of respect) and that will always be the focus of the stories afterwards.

Benitez noticed this after his criticisms on refs are given widely different treatment to when Fergie does the same and now he avoids it.

Someone has to do it though - I think it is part of FA marketing agreement - SAF dosn't do the BBC so Phelan steps in but he does stand up in front of Sky cameras.

As if The Wire wasn't good enough already.

Title race is now on :D

Sheer stupidity from Nani but then again if he's being referred to as Ronnie's replacement...

Anyway, with greater goal difference and one point off the top United aren't doing bad for a team who recently on CF were laughingly compared to West Ham :D

I stand by those comments to, unless you really do think the likes of Nanni, Anderson, Berbatov, Owen etc etc are fit to lace the boots of some of your recent past players

West Ham will need a lot of luck and results to swing their way if they're not gonna go down.

Not particularly. OK they're not the worst team in the premiership but reminding myself of your comparing them to United never fails to cheer me up.

And you're right, luck won't come in to it. Just something else instead to change the situation of tonight being the first win of 2010.

I didn't actually compare them, I said they had a lot in common/ similar, both up to their necks in debt, both have a lot of players not fit to wear the shirt and both may well end the season pot less, guess now you might win the league cup though.

First of many wins.

I think you said a bit more than that. OK let's see....

My first post said...

Quote:

the 4-nil result demonstrated the vast difference in class between United and West Ham. Good result
And you replied...

Quote:

I'd say both teams are quite similar actually, both clubs have to many players not fit to wear each clubs respective shirts and both may well end the season winning nothing because of it, difference is though it'll only come as a shock to one set of fans.
And I came back with....

Quote:

One team has plenty of either current or respected former internationals. The other isn't. One is 2 points from the top of the league, the other is hovering around the relegation zone. But yes as you say, quite similar.
You replied...

Quote:

We'll have to wait until the end of the season, this United team remind me very much of the Liverpool team at the end of the '80's, stale, with plenty of players past it and plenty more not up to it.
So, still stand by those words with United 1 point from top after some poor performances? Funnily enough my response to the above back then was also...

Quote:

Yep, good luck battling relegation.
Well, one of us seems to have been fairly prophetic

I'm sure you're relieved to finally be able to say that. Onwards and upwards.
