have had this known windows problem from Day 1 and despite numerous ideas on a fix Nothing permanently works. what i do is Restart and is ok until next time.
Beware this latest Update win10 its a flaming nightmare all three computers here have had problems from fail to restart after install , Aps removed , links removed
solution on fail is select Advanced repair options select return to previous version
of windows wait a while all should be ok i say should ? never can tell thats why

you can do it from Settings update and security and then select Recovery Read that
select what you want to do no need of any discs,

(CAUTION BACK UP ANY IMPORTANT FILES , PICTURES , ETC)

I still run XP SP2 on my aging main system, one of the best OS's to come out of the M$ stable IMHO. I have W7 on the laptop and don't like it even after taming its worst excesses. I cannot understand the headlong rush to get a new, buggy, OS and then depend on it.

My business needs reliable computers, no way would I touch W10 with a bargepole. I'll leave the nerds to play with it for now.

XP's perfectly "safe" even though updates have stopped*, it's the BOFH that lets computers get infected.

An external firewall in the router greatly adds to security.

*I have never updated the original installation.

So much hatred for Windows 10 when it is by far the best MS OS to date, in my opinion.

Horrendous clutterfest.

I like a nice clean GUI. Just look at my start button menu for example:

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/at...4&d=1459420252

All the frippery banished.:) It's the same across the whole platform. If I installed a new OS I'd be spending valuable time getting rid of the crap. It took nearly a week on the laptop with W7 to get that tamed and I'm still coming across stupid things.

If M$ concentrated on getting the oily bits right instead of adding frills and ruffs we'd all be better off. You can really only compare OS's by a back to back clean install on the same hardware. (Assuming the same level of HW support)

That looks so dated in my opinion, no clusterfest on my freshly installed Windows 10.

Anyway, who even uses the menu itself? Since Vista (if I recall correctly) it's much quicker to just type straight into the Start search box to find any program you wish to run or file you wish to access.

I think i use Window 10s right click on the start menu more than anything other than shutting down.

I'm thinking now I reluctantly have to take my beloved lappy for a repair after I have now exhausted every repair option
