SKY- £10.25X12=£123

VIRGIN ( After 1 year ) £7x12=£84

So a nice difference of £39 and that makes a lot of difference. So the activation charge is payed for in roughley 15 months from when you first paid it eg £50 / 15 months = £10 every 3 months.

You're quite correct a difference of £3.25 a month but you do get 1 or 2 more HD channels. I wonder if VM get the missing HD content will they be able to keep giving hd free. Lets not forget VM also give ESPN free which is £12 a month on sky or £9 is you have Sky sports.

I have the XL TV package, and don't pay anything (including activation) for HD channels I have - there is always more than one option.

Nobody has mentioned VM give you ESPN free , it's 9.00 on Sky and that's only if you have Sky Sports if not it's 12.00.

Edit sorry Marcus125 hadn't read your post above LOL :-)

I don'thave Sky sports or movies. All my HD channels are free. I'd be paying an extra 20 pounds per month with Sky as I have 2 HD boxes.

Yes but what you are forgetting is that SKY jumped in with both feet as they thought that we will be able to show all the PL games one here. They seem to do the same for all the new channels.

VM held back and got the best deal for all of there top tier TV customers. VM may have looked at what ESPN had to offer at the time and said we will do this for you as you are a new provider in the UK.

Also lets not forget all the other HD channels that you have to pay for on SKY that are available for no extra monthly fee.

I'd say Virgin have done a great job in the last 6 months. Since SKY Sports HD and SKY Movies HD launched on the 02nd August 2010 we've had the launch of:

Comedy Central HD
SKY One HD
NBC Universal On Demand
Catch-up with Demand Five
Cinémoi
ESPN Classic On Demand
Plus Five HD launched on the same day Virgin announced the sale of VMTV, which confirmed SKY Sports & Movies HD would be coming in August.

If we look back at the past 12 months instead of the last 6 you can add the following to the list too:

Eurosport HD
Discovery HD
Film4 HD
ITV HD
Sci Fi HD

The loss of Bravo, Virgin 1 etc was a bit of a bummer however what's been added in the past 12 months more than makes up for it. Things have went a little quiet recently however Virgin are rolling out Tivo and 100Mb broadband.

Virgin have promised more channels soon, and staff have confirmed this also. We just need to wait until the new financial year. Virgin will find it hard to top what they delivered in 2010, but I'm sure they'll give it a good try.

Now I'm sounding like a Virgin fan boy, which isn't the case, however people seem to forget what we've received in just 12 months and tend to focus on what we've lost or what we haven't got yet. Lets give them a chance, and see what treats they have in store. Alternatively send your channel suggestions too them directly via this link:

https://help2.virginmedia.com/assets...ackformCZ.html

and share their replies with the rest of us. Media Boy does a great job with this thread however it's more filler than "Coming Soon" information these days. Maybe if we all pester Virgin for the channels we want, we can all add great coming soon news instead of relying on Media Boy all the time.

I can confirmed that Virgin have failed to reply to my recent e-mails and feedback asking if Premier Sports will be coming soon. Either they are ignoring me, or a deal is close and they can't reveal. Previously Virgin simply replied to me stating there was no plans to add the channel. Maybe I'm blacklisted for being a pest.:D

What you have said is absolutely correct.

You also mentioned to pester Virgin to carry the channels we want; as far as I know, that does help as Virgin will provide a channel if there is demand for it (as the deal will be more effective)

:)

Much better than my list Media Boy, BRAVO!

Totally forgot about BBC One HD and E4 HD. Have the past 12 months been the best in Virgins history in terms of new channels?

Got to say that Virgin not carrying al-Jazeera in this unprecedented time in the Middle East is bad form, especially when it's on all other providers, Freeview and Freesat included and is free on their website.

Of the channels we no longer have one that must be sorely missed is Red Hot 40+, how will those poor over forty "actors" make ends meet in the present financial climate??;)
