The hospital and social work needs to arrange care before their is any chance of him coming home I think they are hoping to arrange for carers to come in 4 times daily which will be a great help to my Mother in Law. I must admit it's been a really stressful couple of weeks with both sets of parents but we have a good family unit who all muck in, well apart from my sister but she is extremely busy at her work.

Excellent news dilli.

Hope all goes well Weenie

Is Osem Jnr still in love?

Hope you are feeling better Osem as I have not really had time to be on the CF lately as my Mum has been attending hospital quite a bit lately and my Father in Law is in hospital atm so it's been a really busy time for me lately.

Thanks guys. Yes it is hard and the bigger he gets the more difficult it gets (he's 6'2" now, as strong as an ox and has all the hairy bits & somewhat obnoxious traits which accompany boys of his age) but now matter how trying, there's never a day during which he doesn't do something which brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart. He's a treasure in so many ways and I'll never stop loving him.

Over the weekend I took him for some lunch to our favourite local café. As I was paying I noticed another middle aged guy standing in the queue behind me who'd been watching my lad (as he was being a bit noisy) and we looked at each other very briefly but I thought no more of it. On my way out I looked over to where he'd been sitting and realised he too was with a teenage lad with special needs - his son/grandson I presume. I wanted to go back in and say something but didn't and I regret that now. It's really hard when you feel so isolated and I dare say he'd have welcomed a chat with someone who knows exactly what he's going through. I'll keep my eyes open for them in future and if our paths do cross again I'll say hello.

Think this should be a moan rather than a happy thought. Had a phone call from the hospital literally ten minutes ago. Got a pre op assessment on November 27th at 10 past 9, then going in for actual op on December 11! :Yikes::eeek: not looking forward to it at all. 2 weeks before Christmas as well, so need to get presents bought and wrapped ASAP. And because of diabetes, it's an overnight stay as well.

STEAM
YOUR CLOSED ALPHA CODE:
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

Closed Alpha Test Gameplay Features

One Map: Heatwave
The Alpha will feature 1 multiplayer map: Heatwave. This industrial-themed map will place players in an arena setting featuring plenty of armor, ammo, and health pickups. Narrow corridors, walkways and small chambers all link to a central, open area of the map, providing players with a variety of environments that suit varying playstyles, as well as the focus point for fighting over key power-ups.

One Mode: 6v6 Team Deathmatch
Welcome to the core of DOOM’s arena-style multiplayer combat. In this mode, two teams of 6 players will try to dominate each other by fighting over the Revenant and Gauss Rifle power-ups, which provide devastating firepower that can turn the tide or ensure victory.

One Demon: Revenant
Being the first player to the Demon Rune will transform you into the powerful Revenant. Use your jetpack and dual rocket launchers to hunt down the other team for a limited time to either secure your team’s lead or mount a comeback.

One Power Weapon: Gauss Cannon
Available as a counter to the Revenant, this high-powered weapon destroys opponents in one blast. Use the alternate fire to see your targets through walls, but be warned, there is a limited number of shots, so use it to take down the demon rather than enemy players. Once you’re out of ammo, you have to wait for it to appear on the map again.

6 Weapons and 2 Equipment Items
The Closed Alpha will feature a limited arsenal of weapons and items featured in the complete game. They can be used both in standard and customizable loadouts.

Takes me back: I used to design us deathmatch levels in Doom II. Usually had a BFG9000 or rocket launcher in a tempting position in a large killing field.

Had a rather nice schematic entry tool for level creation with built in compiler and pre-view mode. Even managed some "trick" effects like see-through gridded doors.

4 players lunchtime at the works using their network. Happy days.

After almost a day of faffing about I've got my new 27" Iiyama monitor running properly, needed the latest Nvidia drivers, the Nvidia desktop loaded and an edited monitor .inf file from W7 as none is avaiable for XP SP2. Finally found a little box hidden away marked HDTV over DVI. Ticked that and hey presto!

What a cracking picture. :)

Just over a grand up to now and that's a lot less than it could have been. Things are very complicated where my dad's side are concerned and a lot of the records that needed to be researched are manuscripts in old/middle Polish and Lithuanian.

Fortunately my researcher has managed to dig out some evidence that links my dad's line to a well documented and verified genealogy but the work doesn't stop there.

Start with your Irish ancestors. Tracing them doesn't need to be as difficult as you think depending on how far back they came over and providing you know which townland they were from.

Most of the census returns before 1901 were destroyed by fire at the Four Courts in 1922 but the civil registration records and many of the parish registers (particularly the RC ones) that were deposited there survived.

Was a great show, top performance and safe to say that they're definitely not just winging it as money for old rope. They're touring with live drums, guitar and bass these days (Davy DMX on bass). Terminator X has retired from music and farming Apacas but DJ Lord has some serious skills.

Happy thought for everyone here, I'm signing off now because I'm being admitted at half 9 for my operation tomorrow morning. Being kept in overnight as well, so you have peace from me until Saturday sometime, maybe longer as I have a sneaking feeling they are going to keep me longer than 1 night to regulate my blood sugars before leaving hospital!

See you at the weekend or next week sometime,

Finally got a booking for four of us to go to a restaurant in Leeds that everyone is raving about - The Man Behind the Curtain.

Because we want to go on a Friday or Saturday night, the first booking for those nights was 2nd December 2016...

Osem Jnr. passed the selection process for his third year training. It's very highly regarded and since it guarantees placements in some of the borough's best schools on completion of his degree, the competition is very fierce and places limited. Couldn't ask more of him really. :)

Osem Jnr#2 did really well at his Christmas show and made us all very proud. :)

That's excellent news and you should be very proud of them.

Well done to both Junior Osems. I hope you all have something planned to celebrate the achievements of these two fine young men.:clap::clap:

Thanks guys. Yes we're very proud and quite relieved. Anything which will help Osem Jnr get a decent job is more than welcome.

Independently, we've also managed to arrange him another placement in a special needs school so he can broaden his experience. :)

Congratulations dilli and Natalie, hope you were able to celebrate with some marmite this morning dilli?

And also, relative had engine management light come on in her car, took it to garage and for checking the car over, making sure spark plugs were in secure and nipping them (whatever that means) and fixing their rearview mirror back on cost the grand total of... £0. All it cost was sitting on her bum for 2 hours while it was looked at.

My old man looks as though he's going to be making it through to Christmas and beyond (touching wood). He seems to be holding his own, is still getting about a bit and not in any pain or losing any weight so that's pretty much we could have hoped for. :)

I once (on a night out) had a very drunk man come up to me, convinced I was Mick Hucknall... in the end I just gave up, did him an autograph, shook his hand, and told him that it was always a pleasure to meet a fan.

Had my first experience today of an amazon locker. It was pleasantly painless (other than trying to get 5 packages back to the carpark )

Well I suppose 'holding your own' is inevitable after so many years of marriage... :)

We've had dinner, and got quite 'relaxed' - I didn't think you resembled Mick Hucknall*...

*Mick McManus, perhaps ;)
