Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Hello,

I really don´t enjoy writing this message and posting my question because I am now going to do something that I usually hate other people to do. To ask questions without having invested enough time to properly read the information already available on the forum.

I haven´t been actively checking what is available with Virgin for quite some time and now I am just overwhelmed by all the new boxes, services, bundles etc. Maybe you can point me in the right direction with regards to possibly changing my current services. Thank you in advance!

I am out of a 12 month contract and am currently using the following:

BB L
TV XL
Talk International
Talk Weekends
V+ HD Monthly Fee
1 Additional V Box
The invoice lists Bb/Phone/TV Sp Mov Discount

Charges: 38.25

Phone line rental

Charges: 13.90

Premium TV channels

Movies4, 5 Sports 1, 2 SkypremHD

Charges TV Channels: 36.50

So, in total I pay 88.65 for the above.

Reading through at least a few of the pages of this thread, it looks like I could get quite a lot more for "a little" extra in the monthly charges, like the VIP packages, even though I have yet to figure out the differences between VIP 50 and 100.

For me, I am now contemplating either trying to save money by downgrading (for example, I hardly ever watch any of the Sky Movies channels; I focus on SkySports really and use BB a lot) or to put a little bit more money on the table for some additional services and "gadgets" like the TIVO, the faster BB etc.

My challenge at the moment is that there just seem to be so/too many combinations that I just seem to miss the forest for the tree. Therefore, any opinions, thoughts etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!

DUS

One has 50Mbit as part of the bundle and one has 100Mbit ;)

The VIP bundle is quite straightforward. It's this: http://shop.virginmedia.com/bundles/...e-package.html

It only becomes a bit more complicated when people want more than the two boxes that are a standard part of the bundle deal

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Thank you, Ben.

I´ll see what I can find out over the weekend. Yes, you are right, the VIPs are indeed quite straightforward.

As far as I can say so far, if I want to keep TV XL and Sky Sports, whatever else I remove from my existing services, there doesn´t seem to be a way to save an awful lot, > 10-15 pounds/month.

In an ideal world, I would only subscribe to BB L, TV XL and Sky Sports HD without a phone line and anything else, but then I would pay almost the same amount or even more than I am paying at the moment. So there doesn´t seem a point to downgrade from my current package. That´s why I am considering to upgrade to "enjoy something new".

We´ll see! I will check out the VM website and see what other people on this forum here did in similar situations. Just to get some ideas of what is acutally feasible at the moment.

Cheers and best

DUS

If you only have 2 boxes it costs £101.46.

Have a V+ and vhd at the moment and wanted to change from vip 20 to vip 50 and swap V+ to tivo. They said £110. I think it should be £101?

getting vip50 with 1 1tb tivo and 1 500gb tivo for £97.96 a month

on fees i have to pay is £49.95 for the extra box and £30 activation (but they have credited £30 onto my account so in fact i only have to pay the 49.95)

Not sure how that works out. With the new TiVo pricing VIP 50 with two TiVo boxes should be £104.96

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I'm currently on VIP 50 and have been so for some time, I've now noticed via the postcode checker that I have 100Mbps available in my area.

Does anyone know the best price I can expect to pay P/M for adding 100meg, I'd want to keep my current 50meg modem, not interested in the Superhub. Just wondered as I've been a customer for a long time if any discounts can he had on the VIP packages for long time customers.

Signing up to a new 12 month deal is fine with me as I'm happy with VM.

Thanks for your help as always CF.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

VIP 100 is £110.46

And 100Mbit requires the SuperHub, you cannont keep the 50Mbit modem. If you want to use your own router, then the SuperHub has a modem only mode

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Thanks for your reply Ben, so that's an increase of £9. So I take it long time customers don't receive any discounts from VIP packages? Thanks once again for your help.
