Surely if people comment on there thoughts over HD pricing it gives Virgin an insight into peoples feelings. That's what a forums for speculation and hear say.

We'll be hearing more on the 19th just phoned Virgin Media. Guy on the phone said there will be news then. He said Sky Sports 1 and 2 in HD will launch for the start of the Prem League.

Yep in time for the charity Shield aswell then cool.

He wouldn't confirm or deny the £7 per box rumour, just said wait till the 19th July there will be news on it then.

I just text my mate he works for Virgin Media call centre in Swansea. He wait he has to say on it all.

I assume if there is gonna be a charge for HD ( that is what you lot are going on about? to much to read back) then it will be an opt in rather than an opt out?

UPDATE:

An Insider has now confrim to me that the Sky HD Channels - Sports/Movies - will cost £7 per box and NOT £10 per box as reported by me last night.

I am so sorry about this.

Also Virgin Media will be announcing its Second Quarter 2010 results on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 7am.

Is this £7 for whether you have all HD or whether you just have SS/SM HD?

It seems to be only the Premium channels. Nothing has yet been announced about the any basic HD channels

Its still daylight robbery if you just have sports sky sports 1 and 2 hd £7.Awful sorry it had to be said.

I done a lot of ranting on here last night however I've had a good sleep and time to think :)

I suppose you can't argue about £7.00 if you are on the M+ or L package after the recent price changes.

SKY Sports + Sky Movies

M+ old price was £33.50, new price as of 1st July £27.50 (Saving £6.00) Now add HD at £7.00 = £34.50 (£1.00 more than you used to pay)

L old price £33.50, new price as of 1st July £27.50 (Saving £6.00) Now add HD at £7.00 = £34.50 (£1.00 more than you used to pay)

XL old price £27.50, new price as of 1st July £27.50 (Saving **** all) Now add HD at £7.00 = £34.50 (£7.00 more than you used to pay)

If the £7.00 accross the board is true, nothing confirmed as of yet, XL customers will be taking the biggest shafting. M+ and L customers used to pay £6.00 more to receive their sports and movies than XL customers.

This to me would suggest XL / VIP customers will receive HD for free. I can't see anyway Virgin could explain this as a fair deal to their highest paying clients in terms of TV:td:

Agreed, I only have Sports and £7 is a hell of a lot to pay for 2 HD channels.

The more concerning thing is that if someone has 2 HD boxes it will cost them £34.50/month for 4 SD channels, 2 of which will never be watched and 2 HD channels :shocked:

The only way for VM to drop/lower this charge is for us as consumers to not sign up to it. This will force them to re-think the pricing structure assuming Sky had no say in it during the recent negotiations

Unfortunately there will always be people with more money than sense and go for it just because its the latest thing.
