I am not so sure about this http://www.eurosport.com/football/pr...o1080642.shtml but then again I wasn't sure about the class of 92 either....

To be honest, I wouldn't mind Rossi, Pique and Bardsley breaking through to the first team.

I know that Rossi didn't set the goal scoring charts alight, but he did look like he had potential and his loan spell at Parma hopefully will do him good.

The other two, Bardsley looked alright, in the Gary Neville mould ;) and I have only seen Pique in friendlies, but he seemed to be a good prospect.

But who will they replace? I doubt Fergie will replace Neville, Vidic or Saha with them so they will probably only be back-up players still. I can see most of those players being sold on because they won't be getting enough games which is a shame because they are all good players.

Well, if Bardsley is prepared to hang on, what about replacing Neville in a few years time?

Bardsley has played a few times for the first team and does look promising. Rossi, who is a gifted player has looked out of his depth when he has played in the first team previously, but he deserves a chance, it's his stature that bothers me, but, as I was reminded the other day, Chelsea had a small Italian player who turned out to be their best player for a time (Zola).

Of the other players coming through, it is the Irish contigent who have impressed me most, Evans, Cathcart and Gibson, Evans reminds me of a young Roy Keane, a good engine and gets stuck in, plus Gibson has a good shot on him.

Having said the above, only time will tell I suppose.

Well the reserves have been doing very well over the past few seasons and these players have played a big part in that team. I think that a only a few players will make it through to the first team. Even though it worked in '92 i can't help but feel that was a once in a lifetime occurance and i would be very suprised if any team is able to do something similar for a very long time, but obviously i hope i am wrong.

Rossi is very much in the Zola and maybe Owen mold.. Not a very tall player but he has pace and loads of skill

bring a player on for 10 mins when you 3-0 up is never really going to do him much good

it's a shame he was out on load as i think earlier this season he could have got a few games at OT.. he has potential and I think could be a great player for us as long as he can cope with the pace and speed of the prem

That Lee Martin is supposed to be quite a prospect and Foster is obviously quality, tbh though next season is probably make or break for most of them, if they don't do it next season then they never will, at United at any rate

Except we did it not so long after and considering a lot of them took their places in the England team you could say they are of a similar quality

well we did it with the Busby Babes and in 92 as well so i'm sure we can bring some of them through

the trouble is it seems that with all the pressure involved we would rather go out and buy a younster for 10m than use one of our own

i've never been a fan of VDS, just look at the punch that cost us a goal v Reading so i'd rather play Foster next season anyway

Are you talking about Cole, Lampard, Defoe etc? If so weren't alot of those players playing for you when you got relegated? I don't think they were as good as the United players of '92 to be honest anyway, none of them have been as successful as the United players even though they are in the England team.

Don't let the fact that Rio and Lampard has already left cloud you, presumably you are including the greats like Phil Neville and Nicky Butt in your team, I also like the fact you haven't mentioned the fact that two of them now for your team and three of the others now play for the Champions Chelsea, also it's not just that they got in the England team but they got in the team and replaced your players Carrick for Butt, Lampard for Scholes etc.

I suppose your right, even though Lampard didn't replace Scholes in the England team as he retired and would still be in the England team before Lampard now. It's difficult to compare the two sets of players because one group was kept together and the other group all went to different teams. I just don't think the players coming through at United now will have the same opportunity as the players of '92 had because of the competition in the premiership is much better now, they wont have the time to settle because any slip ups could cost the league.

Yes it's a pity we put upgrading our stadium ahead of success on the pitch, players like Joe Cole, Rio, Frank Lampard are world class and people like Defoe and Carrick still have time to develop in to the same, Glenn Johnson seems to have gone backwards but then he to is still young, it would have been interesting as you say to see what this group of players could of achieved had they been kept together for longer than just one season but it wasn't to be

In other news, I thought Liverpool fans would like to know a bit about the fella who's just bought their club. Bit of a mate of Dubya's (to the extent of bunging him a quarter of a billion greens). I like the way they do business in Texas - want to fatten up your club for sale? Get a friendly politician to impose a sales tax and use the money to do the ground up. Kerching! Back of the net!

[Mind you, the Arsenal have linked up with some bigwig in Colorado who'll probably turn out to be a Grand Wizard in the KKK or something knowing my luck]
