The electorate tend to vote for the populist of the day rather than decent talented people. If those people are earning a decent wage elsewhere, why would they bother?

Hence why we've fallen for self defeating stuff like Brexit and Boris. The result, the country we've got now. Buck stops with the electorate, they can blame no one but themselves.

The majority of the electorate then. They treat elections like a reality TV vote. Not who is most competent, who is more entertaining/a bit of a laugh.
They aren't laughing now ( Boris is, he's raking it in on the speaker circuit).

The left wing ,we will vote with labour so we can get on TV party. Will be interesting to see whom Welsh Labour blame for the mess they are making of Wales when labour form the UK government . Its all the fault of the English tories , is their mantra :erm:

The Westminster party in charge normally favours its own so I'm sure Wales will come out well financially. They also have more motivation to keep their devolved bretheren in check.

London does well when the party in Westminster is the same one as the Mayor but if not, it gets shafted.

Steady on, not even a majority of the electorate. I mean 2016 was only 37% and 2019 GE was only 43% :(

The requirement of ID to vote might reduce it this time as well.

You'd have accepted the result without question had the result been 52% Remain on a 37% turnout. Or am I wrong?

Not sure this is the correct thread but to answer your question, the referendum was void in my mind due to the lack of a qualifying super majority that such macro level economic & societal changes demand.

Yes, of course. But you haven't answered my question properly, mereley swerved it.

Had this "should have been void" referendum gone the way of Remain on a 37% turnout, would you have complained?

Yes, I would have complained that the vote took place at all given the rules in place.

Of course the remainers would have. They would also have complained if leave tried to include the non-voters to make their point.
