Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

E4 HD was exclusive to sky for only a couple of months before Virgin announced it was coming soon.

Was it part of an exclusive deal though?

The launch comes as Freeview HD gets underway in the North West and London. Channel 4 will join the DVB-T2 platform in the spring, but the youth-skewing E4 will initially be exclusive to Sky.

Out of the others 4 of them, Bio, History, Crime and Investigation, and Mgm are join ventures with BskyB, and the rest are the fully owned by BskyB ones.

MGM HD (the channel not the MGM Company) is 98% owned by Sky, but they only have a smaller stake in A&E channels so those are not out of the question. Who would have thought we would have thought we would get FX HD and that has some great content.

The difference with FX is that BskyB have no direct say in it, as it's fox international. It's a news corp company sure, but unless Murdoch is at the head pulling the strings then it's going to act in it's own best interests, not that of another company even if it's under the same umbrella. BSkyB can dictate their own policies far far easier than they can influence those of companies running autonomously with entirely different executives.

What I would like to see is Virgin launch Virgin1HD and Bravo HD. It all well enough moaning about Sky not sharing their channels but Virgin need to get out there and show that they will invest too.

The optimist in me thinks that Channel 118 has been freed up for Virgin1HD, but the pessimist in me is expecting ITV2+1!

Challenge Jackpot HD anyone?;)

Virgin don't want to produce a television channel they just want to carry channels and provide access to it.

Yeah it is usually a year. We will have to wait and see. Will be nice if Vm can get a few more exclusives.

Just noticed that next weeks Klitschko Vs. Chambers is available on demand for £9.99. This is a Primetime Live broadcast. Does this mean Virgin now carries Primetime Live and will the Froch Vs. Kessler bout be available too on PPV?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

VM seem to be sending out some conflicting information regarding E4HD. The ITV HD press release says E4HD will be added to XL?

http://pressoffice.virginmedia.com/p...852&highlight=

Though they seem to state M+ everywhere else?
