Are ntl doing speed upgrades for sacm users on 2mb to the 10mb tier over new years? as we are ready to upgrade.

Is it ok just to get an ethernet cable for my Ambit 120. Or do I have to change modems?

404 for me too ;) - but to answer your question, a 'straight through' ethernet cable will work, easiest way is get a ready made one from e.g. Maplin or PCWorld. :)

I'll try that today and I'll come back with my results later. Thanks to you both for your help.

routing from exchanges are what you are seing probably if anywhere along the lines there dropping pkts then you wont be seeing speeds of 500k+ and to be honest from UK to US and UK to AU there nearly always rubbish m8:) sorry to say..hope this helps

47.68MB... that's exactly 50000000 bytes. Hrm what comes in that size slice, and can be delivered from FTP which is managed by a 'site op' ;)

Suggest you get an FTP with a *real* connection not bbb.se ;)

damm and i thought this was about speed and not as and where files come from to test our newly aquired or for that matter whatever they are...which i might add could be anything :)

btw! happy new year to you all and may you all get a 47.68MB file for the new year:)

Simple really, a 10Mbit site that's delivering said 47.68MB files isn't that likely to have 10Mbit free to upload due to various other demands being placed on its' bandwidth :)

No judgement at all from me, if you can't appreciate irony that's another thing to write in the sicknote :)
