Oh I'm so pleased that your Mum is on track to getting home. Fingers & toes crossed that it won't be long till she is back in her own bed at night and more importantly back along with hubby as I know it's not been easy on your Dad either Hom3r.

Ps I bet they were the best bowl of rice krispies.

Just hardwired 2 dashcams without any real issue, hardest part was finding the right fuse in the 3008 to piggyback off of. Now I'm out of the sun and have a cold beer, good times!

Nice relaxing day myself. Had the best nights sleep last night for weeks. From half 11 to half 7. Popped out for papers, and a bit of shopping and then relaxed all day. Feel better as well since starting aspirin.

Glad to heat about your Mum Heero, but not so sure about the weather, it absolutely tipped down last night with thunder and lightening.

tattie scones can I have the recipe?

I make mine with flour to bind (not turn in to a dough) then loads of cheddar cheese. make medium sized "Burgers" then lightly fry.

We decided to go to Newquay today after I had been to the dentist, my appointment was for 10.50. I waited 25 minutes to be seen and was convinced we had missed the bus due at 11.20. When I told the dentist this she very kindly waived her fee £18.80 as an apology. How kind was that? Incidentally, lucky for us the bus was running late, we had a great time and the weather was brill! :):):)

I had a brilliant eureka moment an hour or so ago. Anybody who has delved into family history will appreciate how I feel when I say I found a big chunk of a jigsaw puzzle that most family trees are.

A 5 had been transcribed as a 3 in an old census so it took a typo from me to find what I'd been looking for for months. There are advantages to having iffy keyboard skills:D

Yes, I know what you mean. I've been dipping in and out of it for years. Sometimes a break away does you good. It can be really fascinating when you make progress though. The downside is that when you find the answer to one particular puzzle it opens up another dozen puzzles. :(

I've spent the past 8 years or so doing mine and it's a never-ending task, soemetimes a labour of love. Definitely it does help to take a break and keep coming back to it.

When you're really stuck there are always people who are willing to help for nowt if you visit the right sites. While it would be nice to discover everything for yourself it's often impossible to get past a brick wall without a second set of eyes or someone with access to local sources you wouldn't otherwise be able to find elsewhere. (I have access to a few particularly Northern Ireland, Lancashire and some army&navy sources so always happy to help anyone if needed)

Also: Newspaper archives. Use them if you have access. You might be surprised what you find.

It's currently 36c here in Alanya (I don't do heat)

However apart from the searing heat I'm having a great holiday, well apart from the hotel 200m up the road that was firebombed on the first night night and the large demonstration outside the hotel that ended up with the Turkish police firing teargas and Us being escorted to our rooms

Seems to have settled down now though !!

Relatively trivial I know but my car just passed its MOT. :)

Nothing trivial about that as without it passing its MOT things are that little more difficult getting from A to B.

Excellent news.:tu:

Heard from the transplant people at Addenbrooke's Hospital so hopefully some results and more news about being put on 'the' list for an SPK :) (simultaneous pancreas and kidney)

Thanks guys, I'm hoping I pass my 'MOT' when I have my surgery next week...

Best of luck to you Dilli - you're an inspiration!

Spending money that's not yours.

bought manuals for work, this week I've spent around £23,000 :D, 3 of them are £20,500 alone, more than I spent for the whole of last year.

Going in the right direction. A year ago I would be blowing out my rear end doing a 50 minute 10K.

Cheers mate, I'm hitting the training hard so hopefully it won't be too long. This is my longest run of injury-free running in ages since I started using that lacing up trick.
