Why do we have a "Coming Soon" thread and a "What's on Virgin TV soon " thread? pretty similar imo.....

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 2

One is for what's coming to Virgin Media regarding new channels and other bits and bobs and the other thread is about what new series will be coming to Virgin Media's TV platform in the near future.

Heard that Sky Sports HD and Sky Movies HD will close in January 2016 to VM customers using a V+ or TV Drive.

Only for the Scientific-Atlanta V+. The channels will continue to be available on the Samsung model.

Interesting. The original European arm of CMT (which Telewest carried) closed about 15 years ago, due to lack of advertising and therefore large debts.

I remember watching the last video shown before it went off air, though I can't remember what it was.

They played a lot from the early to mid 90s which was a golden period for female New Country artists. And the Alt Country was quite rock guitar based. In fact quite a bit of their output bordered on Adult Orientated Rock, but it still couldn't find a large enough UK audience.

Never expected that!

Virgin Media (along with all other competitors to Sky) have lost the right to show Sky Sports 1 and 2:

That would be nice as we do love a bit of Country in our household.

VM have a commercial agreement with Sky outside the Of com regulations on Sky so have not lost these rights.

Then SKY will start crying when illegal streaming starts rising at a rapid rate, it will be SKY who'll lose out in the long run.

The earlier post was wrong and The Daly Telegraph correctly only mentioned BT. VM has a deal with Sky for all its sports channels so nothing is changing here. It is just BT that may have issues but even then Ofcom has said that it may intervene if the two parties cannot come to a sensible arrangement.

That's a harsh and unjust allegation, mate. Read the Telegraph article and their decision makes perfect sense. I put the blame for high sports prices at the door of the Premier League. They could sell all their matches to both Sky and BT but prefer to take higher payments for exclusive deals.
