To be fair ntl are doing it the best way.

People who pay more should get it first since well they pay for that right.
Would you yourself be annoyed if you was paying £37.99 for 3mbit and some guy in another city paying £17.99 for 10mbit?

The area by area thing also promotes postcode lottery service which I dont like.

I see your point but at the end of the day as it stands now I am paying customer who is being treat downwards to someone else.

Not good public relations.

I hope they surprise everyone and upgrade all the tiers just in time for Christmas. http://x11.putfile.com/11/30413243822.gif

So someone who pays £37.99 should get the same treatment as someone paying £17.99? ?

Why not the same speed as well?

If you would like to join the real world for a moment you would realise people who pay more get more for it.
Thats not just in Ntl thats in most things in life.

his point isent that you should get the same services but jst that something sent out in a press release as for all users should rearly be for all users and not just given to the top teir users for 6 - 12 month (my oppinion not a fact)

Its quite simple, if you want 10mbit badly, upgrade to 3mb to get it.

On another note, either my router was just bummed out for a few days, lossy games on source have gone now since whatever work was done yesterday :)

Yah yah, I think NTL are decent tbh, been with them since the 64kb days for broadband, and tv since the beginning. Very rarely have things gone wrong, and been sorted when they did :tu:

As for the upgrade, I see nothing wrong with NTL doing what they are, and if they get a load of people upgrading to get 10mbit early, then good for them.

As you've said saxo, they're the only decent providers available.

(p.s. I don't know fully what all the upgrades are doing, Im assuming everyone will be on 10mbit? with strictly enforced download limits? Anyone know what these limits are?)

100% agree

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase

Simple facts

3meg users pay more than 2meg users
2meg users pay more than 1meg users

So it equates to 3 levels of service

3meg
2meg
1meg

NTL have said that 3meg users get the upgrade first (this year) thus making the 3meg service 10meg (at whatever cap NTL decide to stick on at the price being paid)

2meg and 1meg users (who pay less than 3meg users) will get the new level of service (at whatever cap NTL decide to stick on at the price being paid) next year.

The answers quite simple, you want 10meg this year then upgrade to 3meg.

It's for free anyway so why all the 'toys out of pram attitudes'. You pays your money and takes your choice, Plain Simple and Unadorned.

BTW those who are threatening to move to 't'other side o' fence', Happy Trails and Bon Voyage

Not good public relations.

It could be argued that if NTL went Area by area (as you suggested) that they would be treating people "downwards to someone else". After all, if, say, Manchester gets upgraded first, then people in other areas in and around Manchester would feel that NTL could do them as well.

Also, I would ask. As a 3 Meg customer, what would be my incentive to pay £20 a month more than a 1 meg customer if I am going to be treated exactly the same (leaving aside the cap)?

If NTL did as you suggest, it would lose them an awful lot of money. Money that could be possibly better spent on upgrades for the network.

Re: ntl Confirms 10Mb Broadband Speed Increase

At the end of the day NTL have decided to upgrade their 3mb customers first. So no matter how much people whine about it being not fair, for whatever reason, thats the way it is...end of.
I can see the arguments for both sides, and being on 3mb myself I think they are right, but all we can do is wait until it happens
