Finished my heart testing now, results in a couple of weeks apparently :)

Feel a little rough as I had to stop my heart pills while doing the testing but hopefully I'll feel better soon enough :)

Hopefully the (little rough feeling) will pass very soon for you dilli, although I have the feeling that you will be back to your old self far quicker than most in your situation.

My youngest has just came in with flowers from Asda for me that he bought with his own money :) and it's the same ones that I would usually buy.
I was just saying to his Dad last night that I need to replace the flowers in the kitchen.

Sadly Mark life is life as none of us know what's round the corner and that's why its important that people enjoy their lives with family and friends while they are still here on this earth as our lives are just a very tiny period in the passages of time sadly.

My mother is being "let out" of hospital today. My younger sister is there to take her home and then to stay for the next fortnight. Then I take over for a two to three week period.

Over the few days earlier this week and the weekend she seemed to be improving qute a bit and becoming much less confused. We'll have to see how she copes back in her familiar surroundings. :)

The wee one owned up to scratching the hob so I thanked him for telling the truth, I asked him if that is the reason he bought me flowers yesterday and he said yes as he knew I would be upset when I discovered what he had done. I don't understand why he just never told me in the first place as I would not have exactly went off my head at him yes I was gutted but life is to short to get angry over something as trivial as a scratched hob especially when he thought he was helping so his heart was in the right place and once he noticed he was scratching it he stopped.

So my happy thought is I have a truthful son who heart is in the right place.

See, my mum would have gone mad. But then she always did when I tried doing housework for her to help. Didn't hoover properly, etc. In the end I just told her to either accept my help and accept it won't be done to her exacting standards or shut up moaning about nobody helping with housework. I was only 15 at the time though. But you know, you try helping her and it was thrown back in the face. I gave up in the end. Easier to be called lazy than have whatever I did analysed.

weenie 08-08-2015 00:54

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

I think I would have gave up helping my Mum also Mark if all I received was criticism. I have now said to the wee one he can still continue to clean the worktops if he wishes to do so but it would be very much appreciated if he left the hob to me no matter what has been spilled on it.
Anyway I do not see the point in getting angry or shouting mainly because I don't see the point of these actions when his intentions were good in the first place as he was just trying to help his Mum.

Well on Thursday my mum had her first sip of water since the 12th of July, on Saturday she had her first cuppa.

I asked the nurse what the chances of her being home for her birthday on the 15th, she said "no chance".

She should hopefully have the 3 drains she has in removed hopefully this week, and be start eating again (she is currently on TPN).

She will be a diabetic, but not the usual as she still has some but it won't produce enough insulin, so she will need injections.

Several of the nurses have commented on what a lovely son my mum has for the amount of visiting I do (its a 4 hour round trip on a good day), if I was 20 years younger I would be pulling a few of them. The nurses who I have seen treating my mum have been very kind and nice young women, sadly underpaid (compared to underground workers) and I've told them my view.

She will probably be in for at least another 2 weeks, which now has taken a different turn as my sister in The Canary Islands, and she couldn't cancel, so I am also on bunny watch as well as a 8.5 hour work day, and need a holiday myself but I'm using up my meager 20 days on hospital visits.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Good good sometimes people forget about the son, daughter, husband or wife. I witnessed this with my Mum everyone was asking how my Mum was and never once thought to ask how my Dad was coping I was also guilty of this, it was not till one day I happened to ask my Dad how he was was and he just broke down but saying that he felt a lot better once he had spoken to me about his worries and concerns. I now make a point of keeping a close eye on both of them and speaking to my Dad about the hospital visits as Dad needs to talk whereas Mum does not really like to talk about it.

Usually SnoopZ I do no problem at all but last night for some reason I woke up and just could not get back to sleep so decided to do some housework and ironing and after that I still was wide awake so just stayed up and watched a film. I admit I'm feeling slightly tired now.

Just back from Pizza Hut with hubby and the wee one, decided to give him a treat since he starts back school tomorrow :(
I think a lot of parents had the same idea as we tried Frankie & Benny's first but they had no tables available so we opted for Pizza Hut.

So do I nash.

Just went onto the wee ones VM mobile bill and he was charged premium rate text message :erm:, so I phoned VM and they took the charges off :) the reason he was charged was the text message was to his friend and instead of starting with 07 it started with 44 so well done to VM for taking these charges off. We have now changed his friends number to 07 so this does not happen again.

My friend came too her daughter and son in law brought her and then they went to do some business, so that gave us a nice time to chat. I was delighted to see her again as she is nearly 80

@ Tinky that must be hard not seeing your daughter as much as you both would like, I bet you treasure those visits.

@ nash yes it's always nice to catch up with friends or family.

I'm glad you both enjoyed your catch up :) nash with her friend and Tinky with her daughter.

Just got a letter from my (ex-)mortgage company, confirming they had mis-sold me the Mortgage Protection (a form of PPI, which I didn't realise until my son discussed it with me) I had with them for 17 years - nice little payment into our bank account, of approx. five months take-home salary.

That will come in handy.... :D

Well on Wednesday my mum had her first food for 6 weeks, a bowl of rice krispies, for dinner she had a small shepherds pie, so hopefully she'll be home soon, and i picked my sister up from the airport,
