Wow look at you rushing to miss the point, fact is she was there and he knew she was there, just shows all the money in the world doesn't buy you any class and you sticking up for him just shows how little you've got too

They shouldn't be surprised when they're called out for being a total git then

Good grief, more fake "offence" being taken.

Dunno about you but I think Sir Beer seemed genuinely angry, good, about time he showed he had a bit about him

While I’m sceptical myself it’s the insensitivity that Sunak showed that’s the issue at hand. You’d expect slightly more political nous from the PM. In reality I doubt he intended to cause offence someone has fed him a good line and he’s gone with it. On any other day, it’d probably have been a good one.

JFYI ...

In fact it later transpired that Brianna’s mother was not actually in the Commons chamber when Mr Starmer and Mr Sunak crossed swords.

JFYI ...

But he didn’t know that…

He had just been informed, one minute before he said his jibe, that she was in the gallery…

Interesting commentary from Sky News's Sam Coates who revealed that today was being lined up by the Conservatives to challenge Labour on their green prosperity plan.
Quote:

"They thought internally it was going to be a really big day, a reset day that pivoted the whole conversation back in their favour," he says.

"The big problem for Rishi Sunak today is that he personally messed it up with what happened at PMQs."

Sam goes on to say the PM is telling people in Downing Street that he "just didn't hear Keir Starmer mention that Brianna's mother was in the gallery".

He says there was a discussion about whether an apology was needed, but then Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch intervened to attack Sir Keir, which "completely took away any freedom for Number 10".

"Effectively, you had the spectre of the prime minister being bullied by one of his cabinet members and having his options cut off," he says.

"That is an extraordinary position for a prime minister to be in."

According to Sunak, he "just didn't hear Keir Starmer mention that Brianna's mother was in the gallery".

Did someone else mention it to him before Starmer did?

She wasn’t.

The crucial thing is that today was meant to be the turning point for the Conservatives, with the aim of placing Labour on the defensive over its green prosperity plan. The insensitive timing meant instead Sunak snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

To be fair, in the pantomime that is PMQs, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did switch off while rehearsing his lines.

There’s often some kind of irrelevant reflection (recent death, terror attack, natural disaster) at the start of proceedings and a marked tone shift during it.

I think that's quite possible. Sunak would have not done it if he'd known the family were going to be in the Chamber imminently.

It was nearly a good attack by Sunak. If he'd left off the trans-gender comment, he would have landed a solid blow against Starmer. Particularly as Starmer u-turned later on that day on Labour's green funding pledge.

All over twitter that the prime miniature's wife's company received a 50% boost in contracts it could invoice the government for in 2023, it's like that parties entire reason for existence is to bleed the country dry for the betterment of themselves, chums and donors, from first day till hopefully last that's all they've done
