Cable Forum - General Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

For instance, the 'who owns who' information in there may well be of interest to people new to the thread but as I was trying, maybe unsuccessfully, to say was I (nor you nor anybody else) knows what is of interest to other people so we shouldn't be too quick to try and censor other peoples posts.

I was thinking about adding 'who owns who' information for Local TV channels to my list.

-I only added that info due to posters asking 'Any more channels may launch as part of the deal?' all the time some years back.

I think the next channel launch on Virgin will be London Live at the end of March for viewers who can get ITV London on Virgin Channel 103. UK Wide viewers outside London may see their 'Total Channels' going up by one.

4oD catchup content is now available in HD on Sky On Demand so this could arrive on VM in the future ?

Just to irritate everyone: SKY Sports News, SKY News, SKY Sports 3 & 4, SKY F1 all in HD. Any chance of them coming to Virgin before the end of this decade?

Every chance. 2020 is being mooted as "SD switch off", apparently. Withholding HD channels will become less effective as a marketing ploy as that date approaches and maintaining two streams of the same channel will simply be burdensome and probably expensive. I don't know when we will reach the tipping point, but it will be some time before the end of the decade. :p:

I would like the 4oD catalogue on VM to become as extensive as it is on the website, that way it wouldn't be necessary for me to plug my computer into the TV to watch some older series on there

The first SD / HD swap on a BBC channel has taken place today on Freesat. Viewers with Freesat HD in Northern Ireland will now be able to watch BBC One Northern Ireland HD on channel 101, with the standard definition version moved down to channel 108.

Wonder how long it'll be till VM do this

@MB would you consider doing this? It seems a lot people are suggesting stuff but not asking you whether you would consider trying these alternative suggestions. No one doubts the work you put in nor the effort but would you consider this evolution to your thread/blog

Looks good to me :)
I would be tempted to name it something like "Channels Virgin Media may get when existing deals with the owners renew" in place of "Virgin Media's Deals with broadcasters." to make its purpose as clear as possible.

(Sorry - I always have an opinion on such things! :) )
