Finally the weather is pleasant enough to sit out and enjoy the garden. Laptop, pen and notepad, guitar and vino - just perfect for writing some tunes.

More heart tests this week to see if I'm strong enough for my transplant op!

Why is this a happy thought I hear you say?!

Well - I have to have a 'fatty' lunch apparently - yay, I get to have a Burger king or something while I'm in hospital which I don't normally do these days :)

My Brother in Law and my niece are up from Cleethorpes this week and are coming for dinner tonight. Hubby does not know this yet so it will be a pleasant surprise for him when he get's home.

Also I need to pinch myself as I've just received a phone call from my Insurance company and a very very nice man called Michael has informed me that a cheque will be sent out in the next few days for the expenses for the tree scientist report that we were instructed to have done via their/our solicitor that was working in our case. I must say I hadn't expected that, phoned hubby and he is absolutely delighted with this news. Today has been a really good day :)

My mother is now a cyborg! Well she has a pacemeker and is out of the cardiac unit now and on the mend. Once she can be discharged my older sister and I are going down to collect her from the hospital and make sure she's happily back in her own home. At the moment she's somewhat confused.

Just submitted a meter reading for the gas and our next bill in August will be £20.51 for the quarter. :) Really only the hob in summer and most of the bill is standing charge. The lecky will be next but that's fairly constant as we rarely use it for heating.

Well my mum is still in hospital and Nil By Mouth (11 days :()

They want the Pancreas & Bowel surgery to heal fully, and apparently the pancreas cannot tell the difference between water and food so would release it chemicals that could harm what surgery has been done.

She has been feed via TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) which is done via the veins so the nourishment goes directly to the body bypassing the stomach.

No date yet on when she can start to drink or eat.

The hardest thing was my mum being in hospital for her 49th wedding anniversary.

Travel to and from hospital is a killer 3 hour round trip, but thanks to an Oyster card its not to bad £3.10 each way.

My happy (and sad) thought is that the missus is soon heading off for a couple of weeks much needed holiday so I'll be holding the fort with the boys again. Can't believe how quickly this time comes around every year. We'll all miss her and be very relieved when she's back home safe, sound and relaxed (hopefully).

My Happy Thought is.

Hubby got a letter in the post that looked important so I phoned him to see if he wanted me to open it.

The letter was from HM Revenue & Customs and what a surprise we both got as he has received a tax overpaid amount letter with the cheque enclosed.

Never in a month of Sunday's did we ever expect that news, heard of this happening but never expected ever happening to us.

Funny you say that Jo we won £5.00 last night. We bought a hotpicks one number (18)

Yes the sun seems to be shining on us atm.

On a big plus side whatever medicine my Mum is taking seems to be working wonders on her as she seems to be not as tired anymore. My Mum still needs to attend the hospital every 4 weeks but we can cope with that. Baby steps Jo that is what we are taking just going at Mum's pace at least now my Mum has admitted that she needs help with the housework which is quite something for an extremely proud lady, so I go once a week and give the house a right good blast.

A mate of mine had his HUGE greenhouse broken into and most of his plants, including superhot chillies, destroyed.

They also slashed his liquid feed flexible tank.

He makes a lot of his income from sauces and powders he makes, so was facing financial ruin. Just as he was about to open a shop based on chillies (also put on hold as the builders have gone bust).

But the online chilli community I am part of has rallied around and he has been receiving replacement equipment and plants to get him going again.

Thanks Weenie, we're going in to see her this afternoon. She's now in West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance so it's just down the road. Got down too late to visit yesterday as we dropped by my other sister in Teignmouth for a family conference and to discuss care options.

They are 13 and 22 Tinky and believe me they are really good kids most of the time. I get what you mean by saying they grow up fast as I cannot believe my eldest is 22, just cannot get my head around that he's a man but he will always be my boy.

They can be the kids from hell sometimes with each other especially when my eldest has his GF here and the wee one just simply annoys them or when the wee one has his friends around and it's the big ones turn to do the annoying but hey I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Visited my mum today in hospital. She's much less vague especially as they've given her something to help her sleep so she doesn't drop off in mid sentence. Got the social services coming to assess the house for trip hazards.

We're also getting a care package put together so she can stay in her house.

Oh Lovely weenie.
I've just concocted our evening meal ( bit of an experiment really) Tesco meatballs reduce to £1 for 12, jar of tomato sauce with onion and garlic, added more garlic, pepper, onion, stock cube, mushrooms, oregano, seasoned to taste. All I have to do now is cook the spag...............mmmm yum!:):):)

I'm full of praise for heero getting his Mum's house back into shape for her return, no place like home, and I am sure she will recover in leaps and bounds
back in familiar surroundings. Kudos to you heero.

I asked a longtime friend of mine out Sunday before last and she said yes. We had our first date Saturday just gone. Took her out to lunch, talked and I even got my first kiss :)

Good news all round then :tu:

Had a call from my son tonight who is doing his 2 day assessment at Lichfield to join the Army.

He is so enthusiastic, passed his medical and did his "icebreaker" presentation.
Sat the BARB and Technical tests too.

Tomorrow is the physical tests and teamwork followed by formal interview.

Very proud of him. :)

Thanks Tinky but a lot of credit also to my older sister who was doing something akin to the Tazmanian devil in the kitchen and bedroom - I'd repaired two vacuum cleaners and she managed to wear them both out again.:D More things to fix...

Mum comes out on Friday and my younger sister will be there to see her settle in.

On the way down we passed The Worlds End pub and I mentioned it to my sister as it's really genuinely old, I'd only been there once many years ago, so we managed to stop there on the way back last evening, had to get the hammer down to get in for food but made it with 15 mins to spare and the food was really nice and not too pricey.:)

Landlord told us that it was originally three cottages and the middle one was a small brewery before they were knocked into one drinking establishment.
