Yea thats what i mean't don't no where i got that from! :D

I doubt england wouldn't have taken their captain to the world cup. Thats just shearer backing them into a corner in order to get cleared.

Yep, and was referring to the grammar :PP: (which is why I put the ;) in :) )

Anyway:

Football - one of the 8 best teams in the world isn't bad. Could be better, but there you go :)

Rugby - former world champions isn't bad. Bit of a rocky patch at the mo, but that's probably more due to the coach than the players :)

Cricket - one of the best teams in the world at the minute and, if I remember rightly, wasn't Flintoff the world player of the year?

Tennis - you can have this one; the English are genetically crap at tennis :D

Up to the point where Ronaldo comes wading in it certainly looks as if the ref is just waiting for the 'crowd' to clear so the free kick can be played.

The ref was close enough to see if the 'stamp' was deliberate - it certainly doesn't look it - in fact I reckon Rooney is trying to put his leg between the other player's to regain the ball - as he has his back to him he can't actually see he's down.

Of course when Ronaldo comes running in to make a noise, then if Rooney had at one time considered him a 'friend' I would imagine Rooney must have felt pretty badly betrayed, at that point.

The gamesmanship that the Portugese display seems to be a substitute for proper playing skill. The harder they find it to get ahead, the more they dive and act up.

Maybe Ronaldo shouldn't be the 'scapegoat', and maybe it isn't 'cheating' - but it certainly isn't sportsmanlike. And I don't see why we can't expect more sportsmanlike behaviour - even in the World Cup.

bull. you can clearly see him make no attempt to play the ball. you can clearly see him swing backwards AWAY from the ball

well, ricardo carvalho's foot is in front of rooney's at the time, so he could clearly tell he was behind him

Unfortunately, Ronaldo also lack the maturity, like his fanbase.

Sorry there are no friends when you are on opposite teams.

Do you think Rooney thought when playing arsenal, oh Sol is my England team mate, I better not dive, don't want to betray him?

Because he can't play the ball - he's got to get his foot in a position to play the ball. It wasn't a tackle - just scrabbling for the ball.

So he know he's behind him, but not whether he's standing up or not.

Lots of things. Snooker World Champions, Boxing World Champions, smallest nation ever to reach the 1/4 finals of the world cup.

Football - Would you have settled for that a month ago?
Rugby - Haven't won many matches since and are slipping further down the six nations table every year
Cricket - Have to admit im not really a cricket fan but have been poor since the ashes, The world cup will be the true test cause it won't be againist one team on home turf!
Tennis - True
