Well I'm hoping that it's 'The Sentinal' by Geoff Crammond. I can't find a BBC shot to verify it, though the other platform screens look very similar...

Over a thousand levels - on a bbc micro... I was impressed at the time :)

I never played it but I remember it, and I read an article on Geoff Crammond recently.
