Re: Blatter presides over new FIFA crisis
This isn't new, who didn't know Russia bought the World cup along with Qatar? Isn't this the point of the corruption scandal besides finding out it's been happening years... another fact people already knew.
Then they have the cheek to put forward candidates from within FIFA or UEFA yet again. No disrespect because not everyone is corrupt, but no one from either organisation should be considered for Presidency at this time. They're going to allow the same voters that voted Blatter in have another round of votes? The same voters that clearly pocketed money for votes, the logic in this is typical of FIFA. As for the England world cup bid, it was destroyed by our own Media before we even got a chance to offer some money for votes :D When you allow horrid papers like the Daily Mail to roam free and spew constant crap then you're asking for it. |
Re: Blatter presides over new FIFA crisis
What seems to be new is Blatter admitting it.

Re: Blatter presides over new FIFA crisis
Given what we've all suspected for a very long time, I'd like someone to explain why it's taken soooooo long for any of this to happen. I dare say some will claim powerful corporate interests with lots of money at stake had something to do with the apparent reluctance of the authorities to act until now.

The minute any sport turns professional and money steps through the door, corruption sidles in afterwards..

Re: Blatter presides over new FIFA crisis
In far too many cases the combination of power, money and vested interests seems to be toxic. The only thing which surprises me is how long it's taken for anyone to do anything about but I dare say that's where having powerful chums comes in...

Re: Blatter presides over new FIFA crisis
Rather like those politicians who start to believe they're almost God, people like this soon lose touch with reality and start to think of themselves as untouchable. It's a combination of supreme arrogance and complacency which leads to their downfall, some sooner than others.
