In fairness, I see he was equally charitable about Christianity. ""[Christianity] is assuredly the most ridiculous, the most absurd and the most bloody religion which has ever infected this world. Your Majesty will do the human race an eternal service by extirpating this infamous superstition, I do not say among the rabble, who are not worthy of being enlightened and who are apt for every yoke; I say among honest people, among men who think, among those who wish to think. ... My one regret in dying is that I cannot aid you in this noble enterprise, the finest and most respectable which the human mind can point out.."" |

Re: who is Muhammad (peace be upon him)
Christianity is ridiculous and absurd. That God Himself should come to Earth and die to bring His fallen creation back to Himself is absurd. That man can't do anything to earn it is ridiculous. Especially to the "wisdom" of the human mind.
It is sad that the name of Christ has been used as an excuse for violence and oppression. |

Interesting points of view but I'll stick to reading Voltaire, tweetie :)

Don't be in a hurry to condemn a person because he/she doesn't do what you do or think as you think or as fast. There was a time when you didn't know what you know today.

Maybe the Op would be best going and living in a Muslim country governed under Sharia Law, unfortunately he would not have the freedom to discuss or express opinions that did not strictly accord with that law!!!
Whilst I may not agree with the OP or with some of the responses he has received I fully embrace the freedom that we have to be able to discuss and debate contentious issues openly. The UK may have many faults that we love to revel in, but it's a damn sight better than many of the alternatives! |

Re: who is Muhammad (peace be upon him)
Oh dear, as is almost inevitable any thread on this forum that involves religion as it's subject degenerates into a distinct lack of goodwill towards others, precisely what religion should not be about. We've just completed Holocaust Memorial Day, which should serve as a good reminder to all of what happens when religion gets taken to extremes.
Thread closed to avoid further conflict. |
