That the crux of it Stephen. TiVo has to improve a lot and I'm sure it will, but how quickly? Currently though it is a televisual mystery that a supposed upgraded box cannot give what the box that it's replaced can. Many red button services on HD+ box that aren't in Tivo, no reminders, clunky record etc. Yes it has many good points but beggars belief that it was launched without at least all a V+ box can do.:( So IMHO it will be a very good product but some way off it yet.

But as has been mentioned many times, reminders were never part of TiVo and VM and TiVo didn't think people would need them due to the three tuners. Especially as reminders are a legacy feature from before there were PVRs.

Red button has just launched so will of course get more content over time. So it's not really an issue. It used to be no red button on TiVo now it's, boo red button sucks. Some people are never happy.

I can see people's point about TIVO launching without red button features and reminders and I believe at early release it was a frustrating experience but in my experience of it since the 15.2 update its been very stable , my parents have only had call to reboot the box on one occasion and I find the speed more than acceptable sure it's not as quick as Sky but let's not forget that TIVOs interface is loaded with graphics and is dealing with more data. The only really poor points in my opinion are the apps and my parents hate the suggestion feature in fact they've turned it off , that said im knitpicking with these. In my opinion it's strongest feature is its advanced search which blows Sky+HD's version out the water , I'd like too see a dynamic EPG added but other than that alls pretty good with it in my opinion.

Perhaps a bit of customer research would have brought these issues to light.;)

Yep, that was me!

Nope, that wasn't me.

Lack of red button doesn't bother me and I think adding reminders was a waste of development time and money, which would have been better spent on other things. With three recordable tuners, you don't need reminders.

Maybe you might not need reminders but the majority of people with TiVo do want them as this should have been on there from the start but thats neither here or there now as we know they will be with us by the end of the year.:)

I want a lobotomy so would that count me as wanting reminders?

There have been several threads and polls over this and the majority wanted reminders unless you think otherwise SP.:)

Dunno why we are even still discussing the Reminder thing - they wouldn't be on the list to be added to TiVo if Virgin Media didn't think it was worth doing based on customer feedback

Well as it happens... ;)

I can only find one poll. 24 out of 53 is not a majority.

Besides, it tells you nothing about the opinions of the other 500,000+ TiVo users.

See, you're doing it again! Who are these "many others" and how do you know it is good enough for them?
