ALso I was watching the Hamilton Wade match with my 7 year old daughter. She loved it, more so because she was able to test her mental maths. And who said TV wasn't educational?

Yes James has put on a fair bit of weight but l remember last year he was suffering from serious depression and if one of the effects of his condition improving is putting on a bit of weight l am sure he will be quite happy with that.

And yes Darts and Snooker are excellent for testing your maths and also for relaxing after a hard day.:)

Michael van Gerwen hit a nine-dart finish and a 170 checkout in defeating Dave Chisnall 6-1 in the final of Sunday's second Speedy Hire UK Open Qualifier in Crawley.

The Dutch youngster claimed his first full PDC ProTour victory since 2009 with the triumph, with the £6,000 prize money sealing his place in June's UK Open televised finals and putting him in a strong position to reach July's World Matchplay.

However, the manner in which van Gerwen took the win showed flashes of the brilliance which brought him to prominence as a teenager back in 2006.

The 22-year-old had defeated Bristol's Steve Brown and recent Tour Card winners Stuart Kellett and Richie Howson before hitting top gear in his last 16 contest with Jamie Caven, winning 6-2 and taking the final four legs in 11, 12, 11 and 15 darts.

He then powered past World Championship finalist Andy Hamilton 6-2 in the quarter-finals and whitewashed Simon Whitlock 6-0 in the semis, before claiming the title in style.

Phil Taylor hit a nine-dart finish as he battled back from 4-1 down to defeat Kevin Painter in the second week of the Premier League season.

The Power lit up the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre by landing treble 20, treble 17 and then double 18 to check out 147 in the 10th leg.

The 15-time world champion's ninth televised nine-darter levelled matters at five apiece and sent the already raucous crowd into a frenzy. Even Painter applauded another moment of magic from his opponent, who quickly went on to wrap up an 8-5 triumph that briefly put him top of the table.

But just as he had done in his draw against Adrian Lewis on opening night, Taylor was forced to come from behind to get anything out of the match.
Quote:

Lewis - who had let slip a 5-0 lead against Taylor a week ago - failed to cling on to a commanding advantage again, this time allowing Raymond van Barneveld to battle back for a point
Quote:

It was Simon Whitlock who ended the night on top of the pile after an 8-4 victory over a below-par James Wade, who missed his first 13 attempts at a double, saw him move above Taylor.
Quote:

There was also a home victory to celebrate as Gary Anderson delighted the Scottish crowd with a comfortable 8-2 result against Andy Hamilton

Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld served up a treat for the Belfast crowd with a classic contest to end the action in week three of the McCoy's Premier League.

Taylor defeated his old rival 8-4 to move to the top of the table with both players producing some brilliant moments in front of a sell-out crowd at the Odyssey Arena.

Van Barneveld had a 100 per cent record on the doubles and averaged 105.93 but the Dutchman was still unable to live with Taylor as the 15-time world champion averaged 112.91, the second highest in Premier League history.
A truly magnificent match with some outstanding darts being thrown.

Quote:

Reigning champion Gary Anderson made it back-to-back wins with an 8-5 victory over James Wade
Quote:

World champion Adrian Lewis drew his third successive match as he shared the spoils at 7-7 with Andy Hamilton.
Quote:

Kevin Painter ended Simon Whitlock's unbeaten start with an 8-3 victory over the Australian in the opening match of the night.

Phil Taylor broke a Premier League record as he produced a monumental 117 average to beat Simon Whitlock 8-4 in Exeter, where James Wade finally got his first win in the competition.

Wade finally got off the mark after three previous defeats by beating Kevin Painter, but world champion Adrian Lewis is still without a win after he was hammered 8-1 by Premier League champion Gary Anderson.

Raymond van Barneveld also got his first win of the campaign as he came from 6-4 to beat Andy Hamilton 8-6.

Taylor stole the show though, as he was in sensational form as he produced a brilliant performance against Whitlock, with the Australian doing well to win the four legs as 'The Power' remained unbeaten and top of the McCoys Premier League Darts table.

Not only did the 15-time world champion break a Premier League record with his 117.35 three-dart average, he also stuck in four 180s and was almost flawless with an 80 per cent checkout rate to prove he is right back at his best.
What more can we say about this great man.

Quote:

Double-defending world champion Lewis just did not show up as he was woefully below par allowing Anderson to clear up with a comfortable 8-1 victory.

Quote:

Hamilton and van Barneveld did not miss a double between them in the first six legs as The Hammer moved into a 4-2 lead against the big Dutchman.

Barney stormed back though and took four legs on the bounce from 6-4 down to win 8-6, thanks to a nightmare finish for Hamilton as he missed four doubles to grab a draw.

Quote:

While Barney had two draws to his name, Wade had lost all three of his previous games but finally broke that run by beating Painter 8-6, and he admitted he had not been as focused as he should have been this season.

Phil Taylor continued his unbeaten start to the McCoy's Premier League Darts season with an 8-1 thrashing of Gary Anderson in Brighton.

Although his average finally dipped under 100, ending up at 99.88 thanks to a host of missed doubles in the final leg, the 15-time world champion was never troubled as he went three points clear at the league summit.

Defending champion Anderson, who began the night one point behind Taylor in the standings, made a promising start but soon let the match get away from him.
Quote:

At the other end of the table, double world champion Adrian Lewis continued his miserable start to the Premier League campaign as he was defeated 8-4 by Simon Whitlock.

Whitlock signalled his intent by taking out 118 in the first leg, but Lewis was able to hang with him for the first half of a match that contained a total of 15 180s
Quote:

Elsewhere, James Wade moved off the foot of the table after claiming an 8-6 victory over Raymond van Barneveld.

Wade looked to be heading for a comfortable victory as he moved 6-1 ahead, with an 11-darter in the seventh leg following checkouts of 110 and 154 in the fifth and sixth respectively.
Quote:

In the opening match of the night, World Championship runner-up Andy Hamilton peppered the trebles early on but still slumped to an 8-5 defeat at the hands of Kevin Painter.
Another brilliant performance by Taylor again.

I can't decide if this year everyone is playing inconsistent. Anderson certainly is up and down.

Simon Whitlock silenced a sell-out crowd at Glasgow's SECC with an 8-6 victory over Scotland's Gary Anderson on Week Six of the McCoy's Premier League.

The win moves Australian Whitlock up to second-place in the table, but he is once again playing second fiddle to Phil Taylor who romped to a sixth successive victory.

Taylor averaged 106 en route to a comfortable 8-3 win over Andy Hamilton, however another Stoke thrower props up the table after Adrian Lewis crashed to an 8-6 defeat at the hands of the resurgent James Wade.

The remaining match in Glasgow saw fan-favourite Raymond van Barneveld pick up his second win of the season courtesy of an impressive 8-5 triumph over Kevin Painter.

Phil Taylor delighted the biggest crowd in the history of the McCoy's Premier League by claiming a crushing 8-2 win over James Wade in Dublin.

Around 9,000 fans packed the O2 in the Irish capital to see 'The Power' put on another inspired display to maintain his unbeaten record and go five points clear at the top of the table.
Quote:

In other action, reigning world champion Adrian Lewis finally claimed his first Premier League win of the season and also moved off the foot of the table as he secured an 8-3 victory over Kevin Painter
Quote:

Raymond van Barneveld continued his resurgence of form as he saw off defending champion Gary Anderson 8-5 in a classic encounter to move up to second in the standings.
Quote:

Simon Whitlock shared the spoils with Andy Hamilton as the two played out an entertaining 7-7 draw in the opening match of the night.
Well Mr Phil Taylor continues to set the pace and with Raymond Barneveld probably in the best form he has been for a while and even the World Champion Adrian Lewis finally breaks his duck.
