That's why people are emailing them; because they aren't getting them very fast.

I don't see how it's a 'daft question'. Isn't it important that the CEO knows peoples' feelings on this? Granted, it's probably a vocal minority, but they have a right to email the CEO if they want to; their emails may benefit us all if it results in more channels.

I think it's a daft question because, in truth, people are able to get all the channels they want, in hd if they want them, by going to sky. To get cable and then bombard the operator with questions about why we don't have the same channel line up as satellite really is to miss the point, imo. If people want itv4 hd (seriously?) then go get it.

Any possible "benefit" will be lost on me if I end up with a cable operator spending more on new linear content than its brilliant on demand stuff.

I just love people who just go if you "want more HD" maybe the ITV channels then "go to sky",for many it will not be that simple people do live in flats you know, not all of which will be suitable for dish fitting and people will live in conservation areas again maybe not dish freindly,if only life was as simple as you suggest.;)

But i wil hazzard a guess the comments will keep coming as will mine ie sky is not available to everybody period! which is why some if not many have a choice of one for reasonable tv content that is virgin media.

So its not daft to keep asking the question if virgin media is perhaps your only realistic provider.

Virgin isn't available to a lot of people who would love its services either.

From a business point of view, do you expect Virgin to make an all out effort to attract those customers for whom they are already their only realistic provider?

The Biggest Loser , motorsport UK , The only way is Essex , Agatha Christies Poirot , No Reservations , Americas got talent , Darts European Championship live , Carry on Cowboy , Freddie Flintoff versus the world , Columbo Ashes to Ashes , Free Willy , The Mummy , Hannibal ,Red Heat.

Could just be me being fussy, but on that list I'd only be interested in Poirot, Darts & Hannibal... and ONLY if they were in 720p/1080i HD, not merely SD upscaled at source. The upscaling in the TiVo performs is good enough on regular SD channels.

Lousy HD, eh? I'm amazed you'd say that, considering VHS had a resolution of something like 352x240 (which we put up with for decades) and most people have only upgraded to LCD 1080p HDTVs in the past few years. Take it from someone who often gets snobbish about picture quality... most people can barely tell the difference, and don't care even if they can. Many can't even see that a majority of LCD TVs come out of the factory with whites that are light blue, even when it's pointed out to them. :D

As a rule people care about convenience, not quality. That's why there are a bunch of low-bitrate Freeview channels with decent content spread thin across them... unless you're the nerdish kinds like us getting the most from your equipment is irrelevant. Though I do get annoyed with the thought of many thousands of LCD, LED and plasma sets not calibrated and going to waste on the undiscerning eyes. ;)

---

Getting back to topic, what I would like to see is "presented in HD" or a simple "(720p)" on the end of the EPG description when it comes to shows airing on HD channels. I don't like sitting down to watch a film I've seen before in SD on a HD channel to find out it's only upscaled and looks almost no different to the version on it's SD channel counterpart.

I like the BBC model of having not only a BBC1 HD channel, but a dedicated BBC HD channel that shows nothing but high def content. Even the animated/recorded logos are shot and produced with HD in mind, usually featuring lots of detail and bright colours which gives a subtle indication to the more eagle-eyed among us that yes, this is indeed HD all the way.

I respect your opinion , I guess it's all about what your into , I mainly watch films on it and the odd bit of sport on ITV4 HD.

The Tivo EPG already tags a show or movie as being in HD when broadcast that way.

No the cost would be prohibitive for cable, what i was commenting on was the way if anybody complains about the lack of ITV2,3,4 HD on cable, others give the advice "switch to sky then" and "its easy all those channels are avilable on sky just switch" it really is not that simple both for customers who cannot get sky,and yes it works the other way around too with cable as many cannot get that.

I would love ITV 4 HD on cable for all the sport ie Cricket IPL in HD though i will have to wait.:)

How many times, and in how many threads, are you going to post the screen-capture?

Please desist.
