Re: Weather

While up here in Scotland we are cloudy with temps barely reaching 19-20 degrees and plenty of rain it seems.

However tomorrow seems to be an anomoly as its to be clear and 27 degrees apparently. Then on Friday back down to 21 degrees. Most of next week is forcast to be cloudy with rain and temps of 18-19 degrees.

Our young folk are off to a Christian Youth Camp (NewDay) next week and we are going on hols to Devon and big Christian camp for the bank holiday weekend. Want those periods to be warm and dry.

I like the heat, guess I'm used to it but we do need some rain. Ideally Mon/Tue so the ground is dry again for archery on Friday and Saturdays. I use wooden arrows with feather fletchings that don't like the rain and the hard ground makes it easier to find arrows.

Re: Weather

Today end up clear sunny skies with temp of 23 degrees and a nice cooling breeze.

Total surprise as it wasn't due to be that nice.

This weather has nothing to do with greenhouse gases as it has more to do with a unbudgeable jet stream.:)

Can't really say for definite about this summer Den but the world's climate is warming up, and we're responsible.

Fortunately the main bedroom faces North so doesn't get cooked during the day.

It's amazing how different it is when you are in different countries - when we were in North Cyprus, we had the air con on at 24C at night to keep the room cool and to help us sleep.

That is another subject for another day but this is generally why we have had a scorcher of a summer..

The Met Office explains high pressure systems are “slow moving and can persist over an area for a prolonged period of time such as days or weeks”.

“They can occur in the UK due to the location of the jet stream, which is usually to the north of the UK in the summer,” it adds.

And what causes the change in the jet stream ?
Quote:

. Climate scientists have hypothesized that the jet stream will gradually weaken as a result of global warming. Trends such as Arctic sea ice decline, reduced snow cover, evapotranspiration patterns, and other weather anomalies are expected to make the Arctic heat up faster than other parts of the globe. This in turn reduces the temperature gradient that drives jet stream winds, causing the jet stream to become weaker and more variable in its course.[

just been up to switch air con on it's 20 c outside and 25c in my bedroom i can feel the heat coming through the wall .

So that's why we had a hot summer in 1976 and now we have one in 2018 ,so now we can predict it will be a hot summer in 2060 .

But all that fake American science has been superseded by the president

Donald Trump has said he will pull the US out of the Paris international climate agreement, taken steps to cut back the US Environmental Protection Agency, and is on record saying that global warming is a hoax invented by the Chinese to attack US manufacturing.
