Re: We're launching our brand new Virgin Media Mail!

I have called Virgin on many occations and have had a different answer every time. This ranges from: - They dont support Windows Mail - Deleting my account, then re-installing it & telling me to log on in the morning & it will be ok. Without this forum I would be pulling what hair I have left out. I have now added Recent: to the incoming server & I am now reciving my emails on my Windows mail & once they have been pulled through it leaves webmail. Basicly as it was before. BUT Now I cant send any emails from Windows Mail only via webmail & my Nokia email messinger only picks up random emails. It works but is hardly ideal. On another thread on this site Moldova said Virgin are aware of this & are working on a fix. I am afraid to call Virgin because the first thing I am sure they will do is go to page 1 in the helpdesk manual & tell me to delete my account & re-install it & if that dont work go through some meaningless procedures. |

This has brought me back to square one where I was a week or so ago. I am able to send emails but I can only receive emails via Windows Mail that are sent to me when I am physically loged on. So I have 10 emails sitting on webmail I am unable to pull through using Windows mail. Only emails sent to me as I am logged on will now come through Windows mail. I could change the settings & use recent: to pull them through but then I will be unable to send anything using Windows Mail. Is the fact that I am the second user on the account "_2" has something to do with it as my wifes account seems to be ok. Im getting very ****ed off now  HELP |

Your mail client is using recent: for the SMTP server it sounds like, go on your settings for the e-mail account in Windows Mail and click on the servers tab, ensure the box 'my server requires authentication' is ticked and then click on 'Settings'. Click on the radio button 'Log on using' and enter your username and password WITHOUT recent: before the username. Ensure 'Remember my password is ticked' and then click OK and try sending an e-mail. PMFJI, but I'm not going to read all the pages of this thread, BUT rename the file to a txt extension (or some extension that is accepted) and it will go through. I do this now with my Gmail account.
Sent myself an exe just the other day. Quote:
