A draw was a fair result, a game of two halves;) . Typical Chelsea goal from a dead ball kick, Drogba with a two handed push in Ferdinands back, Terry arms all over another defender. How is that although Terry tries to take out a defender like this all the time, he only gets pulled up when he does it for England.

I'm sure I speak for the majority of Man U fans by saying, the league cup was never a consolation. I'd forgotten about it to be honest, until your reminder. The main aim for me, is the premiership, always has been, and always will be. Champions league, is a bonus competition as far as I'm concerned. There's huge satisfaction in being champions in your own country, european success is just an extension of domestic success. |

As for we would be out, if it were a 2 legged match, do you seriously think if it were, we would have adopted such an offensive style ? A league format is a lot different from a straight knockout format. Every manager worth his corn, will say they aim to win a trophy a season. I'm pretty sure Fergie wouldn't have seen last season as successful either. |

Sorry you had to wait so long, well, not really. Falkirk don't have any Scottish League triumphs, but then i support my local team, im not a glory hunter, i go for the thrill of the game and don't expect to win the league. You may have seen successes throughout the years from the comfort of your sofa, but i was there watching Falkirk, freezing my ass off as we beat teams when all they were expected to do was turn up and kick off before going home with nil point! I've also been there when we've been pummelled, shook my head, cursed and shrugged, but i always went back the next week. And that my "friend" is something you will never feel, that buzz when you give someone a doing in front of their fans against all the odds, can you imagine what its like for a small team, with limited resources, never mind money, to get close to winning a cup after taking down Celtic on their patch? Oh, i forgot, they beat you in your cup... You "expect" to win every week, if you dont - then you buy more players at christmas / the summer then try again. If we get it wrong we cant and relegation is a possibility. What's the big achievement with all that money you have at your club eh? Your not a better club than any other, you just have more cash. Bravo. Away and support Man City... Live a little. |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
FYI I had a season ticket for 14 years, until I could no longer afford it. So your "presumption" that I sit on my sofa "glory hunting" is way off the mark. If you're born in Manchester, you're either a red or a blue, simple. My father was a Man U fan, and like many other kids, they tend to follow suit of their parentage.

I have a feeling Fergie will be in the market for a couple of players in the January window. I suppose the favourite would be Torres according to our beloved press, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hargreaves makes the move from Bayern Munich to United in January either, but we need a proven goal scorer imo. I think Hargreaves could be surplus to requirements though, unless a few current players go in the opposite direction, i.e. O'Shea, Richardson, Fletcher, but I don't think he would get much money for those three. ---------- Post added at 22:27 ---------- Previous post was at 22:19 ---------- The following is news to me, but quite a read nonetheless........ When all the corporate, and fair weather fans sod off to the next dominant team. And end up with gaps in the crowd, where everyone has left, and now support FC United. |

good win with an understrength side.. Eva is looking like a very good buy although Fergie needs to work out if he is going to be a LB or a replacement for Giggs as has been mentioned.. still needs a bit of work on the defending side
still not a fan of Richardson ok he can hit a dead ball ok but this isn't American football where you can bring someone on just for free kicks the main difference between Sunday and yesterday was after we went 1-0 up we still had the ball in their half and put them under pressure so we won 3-0 instead of sitting back and letting the other team have all the ball. seems we always do this against top sides and in Europe and it always seems to cost us |

Signing Larsson isn't a good idea in my eyes - sure he's an experienced player but does this mean we're not getting a more prolific striker in on a full-time deal? I'm a big fan of Torres and hoped he would be a United player come January.

You have Arsenal players who go down like dying swans everytime a Spurs player comes within 3' of them, then they jump up, run and shout and then think "ay up, i'm supposed to be a dying swan aren't I?" They then go down like a dying swan again. Don't get me started on the penalty area tackles that make contact with the ball, the Spurs players are who are onside and the Arsenal players who are offside. |

After watching the game at the stadium I watched again on TV for the questionable decisions. I will agree the Chimbonda tackle on Rosicky was fair and Chimbonda won the ball. The Jenas challenge on Van Persie was a definite penalty although the ref did miss Van Persies handball. Adebayor was played onside by Spurs (Chimbonda). Now taking that into account Spurs only ever had one chance from Malbronc after 10 minutes and that was their only piece of decent play in the 90 minutes. Further more there were two other penalties that we should have had for Dawsons challenge on Ljunberg where he kicked his leg from under him inside the box and King on Van Persie as well. Unlike the fans at least the Spurs boss was honest with his quote “You can talk about the decisions and they probably did cost us goals, but I would be embarrassed to talk about them too much. We did not lose because of them.†:D |

the top teams from ALL the European leagues go into a pot and then i think two countries are choosen to go into the UEFA Cup
it's a nice idea poorly done as you get points for shaking hands at the start of a match and if your fans clap when the other team scores you get points.. so you can do loads of cheating on the pitch and still pick up points :Yikes: i think the only been of fair play i've seen in the past few years was when Fowler fell over the keeper when he rushed out and waved at the ref to say no it wasn't a pen and that was quite a few years ago |
