Has somebody won something? Wouldn't be a group of foreigners playing for a foreign manager with a large proportion of the support having no connection with the city, would it ?
If so, the same thing happens every year ;)

By the way, this is the latest title win in Premier League history. Liverpool had thought they might beat United in getting the earliest win (14th April) but couldn't manage it.

Yep, more casualties expected.
If it really goes bad, there may have to be a massive restructure of the leagues before next season commences (if it does). The time might even be right for the fabled Premiership breakaway, leaving a League 1 and a League 2 (north) and league 2 (south) scenario

Indeed its not looking good that is for sure so some type of restructure seems inevitable sadly.

The reality is if City had a two-year ban, they would have been looking at somewhere between £150-200m of lost prize money through the Champions League.

It was UEFA that tried to impose a ban, it was CAS(Court of Arbitration for Sport ) that overturned it.

With Fulham drawing with WBA, they no longer challenge Leeds for promotion (Fulham are 7 points behind Leeds, and they only have 2 matches to play).

Brentford are 6 points behind Leeds with a better goal difference, but like Leeds, have 3 matches left.

Nailbiting stuff.

We (my wife and I) have bets each year on promotion & relegation from the championship (only).

For the record, Notts County do have a good chance in the play-offs.

Championship: Leeds United promoted to Premier League after 16-year absence Leeds United have been promoted to the Premier League after 16 years away.

Their place in the top flight for next season was confirmed by West Brom's 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town on Friday.

Leeds will now be crowned champions if Brentford do not beat Stoke on Saturday or the Whites then take a point from Sunday's visit to Derby County.

Argentine Marcelo Bielsa has led the Yorkshire side to promotion in his second season in charge after finishing third in the Championship in 2018-19.

Re: Season 2019/2020 Football

Lost a lot of its glamour without the fans.

It appears the takeover saga is far from over. The Premier League have yet to receive any notification from Newcastle United that the deal is off. This ties in with the media sources pointing out this is a power play from KSA following Staveleys urging of pressure to be put on the league.

There's now massive pressure after it was alleged the league had made comments about neither passing or rejecting the takeover. The Premier League is yet to issue a denial on this and are under pressure to respond but may yet be forced to undergo an independent investigation.

I said this would get messy really quick, with the news of PSG's owner and FIFA which tie in with Bein being Investigated for corruption and bribery allegations (again) this could well turn out to be a catastrophic own goal by the Premier League if discovered Bein media had an effect on the takeover process.

Confirmation from both Mike Ashley and PIF that the deal isn't actually off as such. As much was obvious given the statements made days after but this has all been an attempt to pressure the league.

Mike Ashley is now setting up for legal action against the league for stalling the test which is still in progress but the league have been accused of refusing to provide an answer.

Lastly. An unnamed sponsor to the league has made it's concerns known to the league that it's deeply concerned about the current situation with fans allegedly dragging them into the equation. I've yet to figure out who but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's Barclays with their logo appearing on PL corruption posters.

A change around is overdue. The big European clubs have become complacent and believe their own hype. Hard work and desire beats money.

The moment you let players run the changing room is the moment player power wins.

The EFL have reached a ground-breaking deal with Sky Sports that will enable clubs in all three divisions to stream every match next season live on their websites.

Season-ticket holders will get access to their side's home matches free of charge and more casual fans will be able to watch every game — including Saturday 3pm kick-offs for the first time — for a fee of around £10.

The arrangement will be reviewed on a regular basis but is expected to remain in place until the Government permits a 50 per cent occupancy rate at stadiums.

This is likely to be some way off given the initial plan is for a maximum capacity of between 20 and 30 per cent when fans return. This is scheduled for October at the earliest.

No chance, Forest Green Rovers have a deal sown up with Messi.

Lionel doesn't require payment, he just does it for the joy of a kickabout, with jumpers for goalposts etc :)

Quite amusing news. Newcastle United 3rd 'bidder' BNG has been exposed as fraudulent by Newcastle fans. Mass resignations from the fake company have now followed.

Quote:

Several directors - including Evangeline Shen and Marjory Loh, sister of Terence and Nelson Loh - resigned from a Singaporean firm linked as bidders for Newcastle United on Tuesday due to “recent intense public scrutiny.” [Reuters] #nufc
The digging all started when they posted horribly photoshopped images of themselves with Obama. :D

Less amusing is this is getting a bit silly now. Henry Mauriss and BNG are getting free UK press on takeovers that don't exist. You've got the Wigan crisis still to be answered for. There needs to be a serious change in the takeover of clubs and a lot more transparency. Absolutely nobody in the public has a clue what happened regarding Saudi Arabia's attempt to takeover Newcastle or what happened during the EFL test that allowed a group to send Wigan under in a week. I know there's a fair chance at the minute that ours will be going up in Parliament when it resumes but Wigan should be on the same table.

Newcastle United to launch legal action against the Premier League.

The mess is here.

They don't get the choice.

It's now also clear that Saudi Arabia had actually returned to the League to reach this decision.

It's looking increasingly likely both the club and PIF/RB/PCP will now pursue legal action against the league in the high court and CAS.

With Covid-19 and now China playing silly with the league, it really couldn't have come at a worse time. Allegiances aside, I really think the League called a very silly bluff to call here. If this went horribly wrong, they're looking at losing both the decision, the fees involved in the appeals and the subsequent fees involved in the ongoing takeover delays.

Essentially, a private entity just got tangled up in a legal war with a state. I really don't think they expected the response.

Transfers can really set the tone for a team's strategy and fan expectations leading up to the new season.

No, I've had a data breach on one of my browsers and have been playing whack-a-mole for the last few weeks with the bu99er who did it.

I only knew this one had been done due to your reply; I've changed my details because of it.
