The injustice of the play offs, Derby finished 9 points behind Leeds.

Boring and predictable FA Cup final. The Extra preliminary game I saw last summer was far more entertaining, 7 goals, 2 sending off, an injured ref, resulting in a spectator having the be a linesman!

They are a fine team so give them some praise Victor.

If either Longstaff or Rice move this summer it will nail down everything broken with development of youth players. Simply developing young players to feed to big clubs because you're incapable of holding onto them yourself.

Getting support like that has never been the problem in these past few years as the problems are with other parts of the club.

Too many non league clubs are disappearing without trace. Time for a bit more redistribution of the obscene amounts of money in the Premiership to the rest of the game.

Meanwhile: Contracts have been signed and submitted to the Premier League between Ashley and Dubai-based billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan, to buy Newcastle United for £350M.

This is breaking as of 40 minutes ago. Bold claim though.

Edit: Newcastle issue no comment statement. Sky Sports are going into meltdown at the thought they've been out scooped. I'm just sat thinking are we really doing this again? It's worth noting from my own perspective, Ashley and Co have been negotiating promises with Benitez and those have progressed well and a deal was set to be reached in the coming week. So why bother with that if a deal to sell the club was that close? Said before someone was in the data room but a deal this quick seems too far fetched. This is the same guy that failed in a £2bn takeover of Liverpool so he's sniffing around the Premier League regardless.

Some changes to the laws soon,

Will be interesting to see just how some of them are policed.

A keeper must have at least part of one foot on the goal line when a penalty is taken.

And this one is going to be hard to control.

Attackers are not allowed within a metre of a wall that includes at least 3 players at free kicks.

A goal kick will be 'in play' as soon as it is kicked, it does not have to leave the area.

Nothing today and likely no more real news until the Premier League pass Sheikh Khaled in the fit and proper persons check.

Joselu dropped a clanger though in his goodbye message. Telling Newcastle fans to enjoy the new board. The mood remains the same, there's a feeling we're just waiting for the Premier League to tie this up and then we're done. The players and staff believe the club has effectively been sold and most of the higher ups like Charnley are preparing to be dismissed.

Awful first half. You'd think it was Stoke vs Wigan. Poor penalty decision. Only other noteworthy thing is Mane keeps picking balls out from over the top and each time it's Trippier grabbing his wrist/shirt/arm and it hasn't been picked up yet. He's dying to get sent off.

Edit: Was wondering when Harry Kane or Salah would throw themselves to the floor. Harry Kane takes that award in the 91st minute.

We played far better last year.

I was a bit indifferent about this match. But some Spurs neighbours have disturbed my peace all day, all gone quiet now :)

Is it too late to do Barcelona vs Ajax instead? :D

I'd love to know why Poch put Kane in ahead of Moura. The penalty so early pretty much buried the game.

Dire match, seen much better at Old Trafford recently which tells you how poor it was. Spurs marginally the better team, Liverpool's keeper their MOM, kept them in the game.

Company set up by Mike Ashley's lawyers. Names the Bin Zayed Group as owners ahead of Newcastle takeover. The earliest completion of Fit and proper test would be tomorrow.

. Hundreds of England fans have been baton-charged by Portuguese police in riot gear after throwing bottles at them at a packed fan zone in Porto.

The incident, which was witnessed by the Guardian, occurred after Cristiano Ronaldo had put Portugal one-up in their Nations League semi‑final against Switzerland. Some Portugal supporters launched their drinks in the air to celebrate, and a significant number of England fans retaliated by hurling bottles at the locals and then the police. That sent hundreds of people, including many parents with children, running from one of the two big-screen areas at the fan zone near the Metro Aliados in central Porto.

Although its worth pointing out this distinction Mr K.

Clear division between loyal England football fans who follow the team all over the world, love travelling, love the team and respect the places they visit and the rent-a-mob you get in Portugal and elsewhere. Worth making the distinction.

True Den, its just depressing this rent a mob follows England everywhere. No interest in football, just drinking and fighting.

Absolutely Mr K as these type of people should be punished severely and also should be banned from going abroad for life and banned from going to any football match for life.

The thing is they are a tiny minority that are not representative of the vast majority of law abiding well behaved English fans.

Uninspiring England performance. Echo my past comments, it's part down to the fact the players haven't had a kick around in 4 weeks. You don't forget to play football but you do lose your rhythm. It made the CL final diabolical to watch.

Then there's Southgate. :erm:

What are your thoughts about VAR Jim? as it was a close decision but it was offside.

I’m all for VAR as long as it is used correctly, last night was an example of best practise, no excessive delay and a correct decision.:)

One thing is clear and that is don't celebrate a goal until you know its going to be given.;)

One way to kill the emotion. I'm not sure where the game is going with all these rule changes, I thought VAR was for clear and obvious errors, if it takes a couple of minutes to find out it's neither clear or obvious

Its here to stay whether one likes it or not as one thing it will do is cut out some of the mistakes made by the officials.

It wont necessarily cut out the mistakes, the way it's being used is still based on human interpretation, perhaps if it was just for the clear and obvious it'd be more warmly accepted.
