Amazingly cricket still being played into October this year.

Great saving 4th Innings from India against Aus. Very ungracious Aussies the worst sledging I've heard, and that cheat Smith deliberately scuffing up the batman's guard on the the pitch!

Well done England sort of target we'd have struggled with a few years ago against spinners. Keep scoring before they get you out is the answer !

Was looking on the schedules to see who had the tv rights for the India series. Disney apparantley !

Didn't know Mickley Mouse was a fan....

Radio it is then, presuming someone has those rights, hopefully its not Talk Sport....

Seem to remember Indian series are always a bit last minute for TV rights. Its as if they're waiting to see who will blink first and pay most ! Not that I'm cynical ;)

Still up for grabs on the India v Eng TV rights. Channel 4 are a surprise late runner...
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/...iblescenarios/
Quote:

Three scenarios are in play. BT Sport and Sky remain the likeliest traditional subscription service to win the rights. Sky have shown almost all of England’s cricket tours over the past 30 years. BT Sport has rights to Australian cricket and screened the last Ashes tour.

Channel 4’s interest is a surprise but they would be welcomed by many in the game as free-to-air broadcasters. They will face challenges around scheduling the cricket at such short notice and marketing the tour in time.

Negotiations are ongoing but with a bidding war underway, the rights are set to go to one of that trio in the coming days.

i understands the most likely outcome will see BT Sport and Channel 4 win a joint bid that will see at least one of the four Tests shown by the terrestrial broadcaster. One other scenario might see Hotstar share the rights with Channel 4.

C4 are closing in...

Quote:

Friday January 29 2021, 5.00pm, The Times
Channel 4 has approached several star names to be pundits for next month’s India v England Test and limited-overs series as the broadcaster closes in on the TV rights.

The approaches reinforce Channel 4’s position as frontrunners for the broadcast rights to the series, as reported by The Times

Unless Sky returns to the table with an improved offer, Channel 4’s bid is expected to be confirmed over the weekend or on Monday, before the first Test next week. It would be the first time live Test cricket has been on terrestrial television since 2005.

It is a good Test wicket for Indians just like a green Old Trafford pitch is good for us. However we won the toss so no excuses this time.

Maybe we should do away with the toss and always give the overseas team the choice. Would even things up a bit.

Not the best captain but our best batsman. As for Zak Crawley, why do we keep picking him?
NZ are the better team by far and deserve to be in the World Test final.
Our mistake is always preparing for the Ashes, resting our best players and not giving any other team any respect. Funnily enough, we are just warm up fodder for NZ this time, for their big game next week.

I have just about come to terms with T20 and the atmosphere at Old Trafford on Tuesday for England v Pakistan was terrific, even with the Bangra band pounding out their beat right behind us. Have to say that was more enjoyable than listening to the self styled yobs of the Barmy Army. I think the hundred is just garbage, no connection or affiliation with most of the teams, stupid rules and running it alongside an established 50 over competition is just daft.

RIP Ted Dexter.:(

Stunning first day from England at Headingley, can they keep it up?

If Rishan Pant was made to remove illegal taping from his gloves why wasn't Dawid Malan recalled?

Yup - I was there today, watching Rooty hit 121, and the rest of the team get to 423.

A stunning turnaround from the last test, still room for improvement, can they maintain it?

Re: English Cricket

Absolutely brilliant by England but totally unexpected given the shambles of the last test.

Doubts over the final Test Match tomorrow due to covid cases in the Indian camp.

Would be quite convenient for them in a way as they were begging for this last match to be cancelled a few months ago due to the rearranged IPL, and now of course they're 2-1 up. Cynical moi?

The BCCI can now rest easy, the IPL is worth £300m to them.

One way or another this Test was never going to happen. We know our place....

As for forfeiting the Test and it being 2-2, the Indians haven't agreed to that yet. They run the World game so they'll have the final say.

Test Cricket RIP.

Yep the IPL is where all the big money is that is for sure.

ICC rules state as far as l know if a side cannot put out a full side they have no option other then to forfeit the match.

I don't follow the cricket but when Iwe dove past on Wednesday and the staff were all beavering away setting up the hospitality area at the front of the grounds. We commented that it was a sign of things starting to get back to normal ...well the new version. The area is usually buzzing on a match day, loads of traffic and hundreds walking to the venue with their umbrellas and cool boxes. I feel sorry that this match can't go ahead so many people will be disappointed.
Hope the Indian team members who have tested positive don't suffer any major complications.

If it isnt Test cricket, it doesnt count as you know old chap ;)

I'm dreading our upcoming Ashes humiliation - OAP bowlers, and batsmen who know how to get out. Still at least they've managed to get their families winter holiday sorted which is the main thing alongside 20/20 contracts.
