Newcastle take over is off SSN yellow tickle club still up for sale
Sky Sports News Verified account @SkySportsNews 4m 4 minutes ago BREAKING: Source close to Mike Ashley: "It is only right to let the fans know that there is no deal on the table or even under discussion with Amanda Staveley and PCP. Attempts to reach a deal have proved to be exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time. |

Re: Season 2017/2018
It's a story spun from the Ashley camp it seems. Nothing has changed, there was never a deal for it to be off. PCP claim their initial bids stand and have had no rejection from anyone affiliated with Newcastle United. This is the first they've heard of any walking away claims.
One can only assume if its legitimate its an attempt to panic them into increasing and hurrying the bid. However, a childish and amateur like stance like this may legitimately get PCP to pull the plug on the absolute idiot that is Mike Ashley. He'll be the one looking stupid if they do and he has 50,000 fans on his back again. As expected, Staveley is bemused and I'd bet quite annoyed by this. If this was a gamble from fat Mike I'm guessing he's failed miserably. Expecting this story to blow up further in the morning and not in a good way for Newcastle fans. Reports now that Staveley isn't walking away and the original sky report is cack basically. Getting ridiculous now, fans deserve to know what's going on. |

Re: Season 2017/2018
Oh dear, sources inside Liverpool have allegedly labelled Amanda Staveley a glorified tyre kicker :D alongside further leaks of her investors basically being left in the dark about what she's been doing over the past few months. It's starting to look like Newcastle United have actually dodged a massive bullet here with stories appearing about the people behind her investment and her actual plan being to own the club herself, something which just doesn't seem feasible.
It appears Mike Ashley might actually be right :erm: Guess we'll head back to selling ourselves to the chinese then  |

Emerging reports that Mike Ashley himself or an associate drunk called Sky the other night. If true that's absolutely dire and up there amongst the most unprofessional things he's done. How on earth these two parties could possibly strike a deal is beyond me. But I can imagine she's absolutely dying to throw the £300m at him whilst telling him where to go. |

Interested in Julian’s views on Lemina, all he seems to do is give the ball away every other pass and shoot from hopelessly far out, usually off target as well.

That final ball always seems to go adrift. Or they try and keep possession for too long. Overall I'm pleased with the point in a game we could have easily won. Spurs committed twice as many fouls as us probably because we wouldn't let them play. I'll draw some positives from the performance but there is still much work to do and time is running out....... |
Re: Season 2017/2018
I thought Tadic played well today, that cross near the end should have been scored easily by the youngster. What happened to the “two footed player”. The number of times when the ball is coming in at pace they try and strike it with the foot on that side. If he had gone with his left foot he would have burst the net.
I thought you just about shaded it today, need to start winning a few of these games though. |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42697836 l wonder what Jims thoughts are on this?. |
Re: Season 2017/2018
Not a fan of transfer windows at any time of year, that said he is a top class player, just not worth the ridiculous amounts he is ‘reported”to be going to get.
An opportunity to sign a player like him doesn’t come up that often and I think that it will be a good move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan as well. He was good early on but has really lost his way this season, easy to blame José for that but he has had chances in recent games and been pretty poor TBH. His style may suit Arsenal better and I honestly wish him well. Of all the current squad at United I would suspect that Juan Mata may be most under threat from Sanchez. |
Re: Season 2017/2018
If Arsenal can get Aubameyang then Walcott & Sanchez for Aubameyang & Mkhitaryan is a decent window for Arsenal too. Especially giving the state of us going into the window. Also means the job in the Summer is less severe.

Re: Season 2017/2018
What worries me about Sanchez and Aubameyang for that matter is the way they let their performances suffer when possible transfers come up and don’t materialise immediately.
Contrast that with say DeGea or even Ronaldo when they missed out on transfers to Real Madrid. Granted Fergie promised CR7 he could go later but they both still played to their absolute best in every game afterwards. ---------- Post added at 19:30 ---------- Previous post was at 19:20 ---------- Quote:

I am not sure about Mkhitaryan either but Mourinho's view of players is unpredictable. I don't he has shown a particular talent for spotting which of his young players are worth keeping, or much interest in younger players at all, or for hidden gems. Sanchez is a obvious buy. Mkhitaryan did well at Dortmund. Hopefully Arsenal get something out of him. I am not too bothered that United let him go though. |

Interesting one after Newcastle secure the loan of Kenedy for the remainder of the season, they've now launched a £20m bid for a striker they won't reveal the identity of and are running with ''Less competition'' as the reason. Re: Season 2017/2018
Newcastle reject bid for Mitrovic. Won't entertain offers that don't come close to the £15m mark. Could likely see Newcastle head for a £35m striker if Mitrovic is offloaded. As it stands though Newcastle are still in talks with a forward regarding a £20m move and it's driving the Internet crazy with its secrecy.

Its thought they're wanting more than £20 million though. Then the added fact of signing a striker from. The Dutch league is a hell of a risk. Jozy Altidore... Then there's also the the likely hood of the takeover concluding after survival is guaranteed and whether these same players are going to be offloaded ASAP. |
Re: Season 2017/2018
Brighton launch £15m bid for Mitrovic as Newcastle now eye up Andre Schurrle as well as Jorgensen, the latter has no expressed that he'd like to join Newcastle. I still believe Mitrovic has it, just not in a Benitez team. I'd have thought West Ham would have had a look, or may yet still have a look as it's expected Newcastle will settle with what they paid, £15m.
These signings and the roll of the dice for Ashley is a statement off intent to stave of relegation and for Ashley to then be in a better position to negotiate the expected PCP takeover bid when Staveley launches round 2 if we stay up. Edit: Just noticed Newcastle rejected an £8m bid for Mitrovic from Brighton earlier in the day. Source now says they've come back with £15m. Despite that, Newcastle have also said they won't sell to a relegation rival and Mitrovic would prefer a move back to Belgium. Brighton are now awaiting a response. Should hit mainstream news sources when it's accepted or rejected. Would be pretty hilarious if they accept, 6 hours after the statement above. |

Re: Season 2017/2018
VAR is still in the early stages. You can display the video on screen so people know what's happening and work out the optimal times to use it and how to judge it.
|
Re: Season 2017/2018
Many sports have eventually benefited for the introduction of Technology, Tennis, Rugby and Cricket. Football is going in the right direction but the process in which the VAR is used and operated needs a lot of work.
They need to stop the players talking to the ref when there's a VAR incident, the talking slows the process down They need to somehow make the VAR process transparent for the crowd 3 or 4 minutes where the crowd doesn't know what's going on is no good for the game. They need to add the minutes taken up by the use of the VAR to the end of each half. If the VAR stops players diving and shirt pulling I'm all for it |

Islam Slimani has actually arrived in Newcastle unlike Daniel Sturridge who ended up at West Brom. Feel like we've dodged a bullet with both Sturridge and Ings. Sturridge I'd have tried out I guess. A loan is still a massive risk when these players are likely key to survival. Ings is far too much of a gamble. Slimani will be out for just over a week or so but it's the right move barring a permanent move for Jorgenson which seems like a lot of money to spend for a club that'll likely be revamped in the summer should they survive and conclude being taken over.
Martin Dubravka is also en route to Newcastle. |

Re: Season 2017/2018
I think most of us would have collapsed if Van Dyck had whacked us in the back of the leg like that. A good game for us neutrals. Don’t rate John Moss but one way or another they arrived at the correct decisions IMHO.

Re: Season 2017/2018
The officials in my opinion are just not good enough to make these important decisions on their own..
|
Re: Season 2017/2018
VAR is a total waste of time. If they cannot rely on the standard of referees. Then they shouldn't be there.
We have seen in recent games where they have used VAR. And the time wasted by using it. We have cameras for touchline tech. All we have is another company joining the bandwagon. What's the point of the camera's if you now have VAR |
Re: Season 2017/2018
Quote:
VAR is a fifth referee watching a display using existing cameras at PL grounds. They're literally using the cameras available at PL stadiums, that's why they haven't been seen in use in anything lower than the Premier League. There's no outside company. It's a standard fifth referee watching raw feeds from all available cameras. The main gripe with it, is that it only shows raw feeds, no replays, rendering the entire idea of it a bit pointless. All the fifth referee gets is a slightly improved view at times, his decision making can still be bollocks. The media and others have hyped it up like it's some form of Hawk-Eye system. It's literally a TV screen and a referee. |

Winter break under discussion before new TV deal.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42954835 Long overdue IMO. |
Re: Season 2017/2018
Finally. I think the final round of games before the break should be New Years Eve tbh.
But if they do this they need to do it a way that doesn't increase the fixture congestion. Packing even more games into the remaining time won't work. It's already crazy around Christmas time with teams playing to three times in a week. I think they would need to either lengthen the season or take teams in Europe out of the League Cup and maybe abolish FA Cup replays. |

Having that mid winter break is all well and good, as long as the 'big' teams don't use it as an excuse to go swanning off to warmer climes and play in some cleverly arranged money grabbing 'winter' cup competition.
I think we all know which clubs would participate if given half a chance. |
