Ahhh right. Thanks for explaining, I was thinking that each app required it's own specific support.

I think the VM insiders' lips seem to have been sealed. The last couple of content deals have been announced by VM without any tip-offs appearing on this site.
The testing reports do not come from VM insiders, they are just people plugging their DTC TVs into their VM cable connection.

We think Virgin Media UK might go after the following "Virgin Media Ireland only channels":

-History HD
-Crime + Investigation HD
-MTV Classic
-Disney Channel HD

We can't Virgin Media UK going after:

-RT (Russia Today)
-Fashion TV
-EWTN
-UCB Ireland

We have no confirmed info on if this will happen - just our view

In our view if MTV Classic and Spike TV was the only ones from the list we posted early today to launch on Virgin Media UK we think high numbers of Virgin Media UK viewers would be happy.

We really want more Sony own channels to launch on Virgin Media UK.

I think what Atrhur means is that he wants new content on some new channels.

However, he may be disappointed. Any decent new content will be provided by way of on demand, not new channels, in all likelihood.

Because it doesn't exclusively show movies.

Viacom drop MTV Live SD on Feb. 15th and EPG Slot use for MTV Music +1.

MTV Live HD is set to be axe on Wednesday on Sky - no confirm word on Virgin Media UK.

Community Channel is set to close on Thursday as they have only 14% of the money they need to stay on air.

VM must have started taking their feed off another satellite- probably to allow Viacom to fulfill a contractual requirement.

I dislike Sky with a passion, but credit where credits due. I think it's now time for the other companies who make money from selling TV to make a contribution.

Local TV has been a failure, using the spectrum for altruistic channels would have been better.

Interesting about MTV Live HD going from Astra UK.

There's no mention of MTV Live HD on MTV UK's website anymore. I wonder if the channel staying on VM is a long term thing?

With this change, MTV Live HD becomes a VM exclusive, while MTV Classic is Sky only, (apart from VM Ireland)

Is, or was MTV Live HD available in VM Ireland?

As far as we know MTV Live HD is not broadcasting on Virgin Media Ireland - Latest 100% confirm list of channels on Virgin Media Ireland is from November 2015.

At time of posting we do not know if this mean Virgin Media UK has team up with Liberty Global and signed an new Europe wide deal with Viacom.

Our own view is: Why did Viacom not ask Virgin Media to drop MTV Live HD to launch MTV Classic for?

MTV Live can be quite good actually, it makes a change from the 20 or so songs all the other music channels play on repeat.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to not see Spike or MTV Classic launching because VM are so stingy with channel launches. BTW, I also thought VM had boosted their capacity by 20% (or approximately 70 channels), so there are no excuses for VM to give the customers what they want.

The only thing VM boost is their pockets with price rises, imo vm is very poor value for money these days.

People need to barter more instead of this constant indolence of doing nothing all the time as all it takes is a phone call and a few polite choice words as the last thing companies want is to lose more customers.

I did exactly that and it works.

I've just reduced the cost of my package down from £140 down to £107.
I have XL TV, Sky & Movies HD, Talk Anytime, 200mg BB, Line Rental, Tivo, HD+ and 2 HD boxes,

It's definitely worth talking to them and asking. I explained I had a 50% offer from Sky, but I would rather stay with VM and were there any deal/offers they could put in place. I couldn't be happier this morning :-)

That's a hefty list mate... How have you got time to watch them all? :-)

I'd take the HD channels plus a couple of the movie ones, but not even sure I'd watch those anyway.
The +1 channels for me aren't needed. I'd rather record a programme that was shown at a different time on the HD channel than use the +1 to avoid recording clashes.

well, virgin could cheekily ask for just Sky Atlantic +1 and Sky could still say they are the place to show first

But for channels like
The rest of the Missing HD channels

Plus SD channels like

AMC

Tru TV
Sony movies

True drama
MTV classic
I don't think we should be charge extra for the plus one channels. They should be
including in the deal for no extra charge if you get the main channel.

Well, if the owners of these channels charge VM for the +1s and Virgin add them, they have to pass on the cost. They are not a charity.

Bet they're any missing QVC channels.

I'm pretty sure that CNN HD will join VM. Not been given any info, but CNN usually like to have their channel on all platforms (technical adjustments have been made that suggest it will join Freesat soon).

For you maybe clearly not everyone is the same , with so much choice about now many consider the traditional pay platforms of Sky and VM overpriced.

Imagine a scenario where one of the big online players like Apple , Google , Amazon etc snapped up the football rights and made a move into Sport how appealling would Sky and Virgin's packages be to many then ?

denphone 01-07-2016 20:32

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

Personally l would be very surprised if one of those companies mentioned would ever snap up the football rights as Sky will bid a kings ransom to keep those rights MM.

'Two new Worldbox apps have appeared on Tivo; Spanish Viva and Portugese Coleta. Selecting either brings up an upgrade message advising to call customer services (I'm on TV XL). So it looks like some new international streaming channels are on their way'.

I had wondered whether Worldbox was being wound down after two channels were taken off and never replaced a couple of months or so ago; but after reading the above it seems that this is not the case.
