Normally you get a full refund if you cancel but not on the Saver bookings which to be fair is understandable.

A couple of friends of mine had the same trouble. They'd booked hotels and train tickets to follow a band on some random tour dates but the band pulled out.

The use of the word "Traditional" when it comes to food.

You see food like Cottage or Shepherds Pie and they have chilli in them. I meean WTF chilli is not a Traditional British food

The other is Traditional Fish & Chips, they should be cooked in beef dripping, NOT any oil.

Stuff like that really annoys me. I can't have chilli (as it makes me unwell), but "food engineers" (you can't really call them chefs or cooks) are adding it to just about everything, ususally to disguise the taste of cheap meat, or possibly to disguise reduced salt levels.

The worst was when my sister put some gherkins with a meal. Turns out they were pickled gherkins with chilli. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

I too cannot eat chilli, spicy food does not agree with me at all. I suffered last week when I bought a Korma in a supermarket. Korma normally meant to be mild with no spices in it. This one had been loaded with spice and I suffered badly all evening with indigestion, even though I had taken my medication. Gaviscon was luckily on hand to help ease the pain.

I feel like complaining to all these supermarkets and ask why add spice to a dish that is not meant to have spice in it.

Might be worth getting hold of the "strong" acid based drain unblocker from B&Q

Just be careful as its pretty nasty stuff.

The only reason I can imagine for the prevalence of chilli is to hide crap ingredients and the reduction of salt in foods.

The only thing currently guaranteed not to have chilli added is breakfast cereal, but that can't last long...

Virgin Media's billing system  Just renewed my phone line rental saver. Got various acknowledgements from them, so far so good.

Received new bill from them yesterday. On in is recorded payment by card for Line Rental saver, payment of it AND a payment for the monthly rental  Phone them up and guy says oh I note we forgot to set the marker to say you've paid it.

Why if the billing system knows you paid does it insist on a separate marker being set?

Thanks. If push comes to shove. It's only paper blocking it and only just in the bend so I'm hoping the paper breaks down and dissolves away. It's happened before just not this bad.

People who get on the train, then stop when they are on the train and only then decide where to go.

I got stuck behind a couple today. They actually stepped on the train and both stood there deciding where to go, thus blocking the door and almost causing me to miss my train. There was a *lot* of empty space in front of them, they could at least have taken a further step forward, then decided.

Normally a torrent will max out my 20Mbs link at about 2.4MBytes/s if there's a decent number of peers.

Sending you a virtual gentle hug dilli.

Could you not get a prescription on your next hospital visit? I hate having to go to my GP. He never reads the latest screed from my hospital Consultants and treats me like a childish hypochondriac when I try to get the prescription I know my notes advise him to give me.

If you are getting acid problems after chillied food, talk to your GP about GERD and Campylobacter Pylori. You should find that a short course of antibiotics and/or Omeprazole (Proton pump inhibitor) will sort you out like magic.

Chilli does not cause stomach problems, but often cures them IMHO.

As I found out at my cost, my doc put me onto morphine pain patches.
Started with 5micro gram then 10, finished up with 15microgram which I could only manage for 3week periods. (Ended up with blocked bowel)
Now back onto pregabalin which although causes same bowel problems is not as severe.

Could ask for something like Targinact, which has an added ingredient that counters the binding effect of opiates. Buprenorphine patches did the same for me too as do any other type of opiates.

Just read the letter again, and I'm fuming. All the right details, name DOB, NHS number and address. Yet the patient described in the letter is not me. I don't wear contact lenses, I have worse vision than 6/9 and so they have got patients mixed up. I feel sorry for the poor person who gets an all clear letter. And the appointment line at the hospital is busy. Number 50 in the queue. Will try again around 3 or 4.

Home Energy Services (formerly Eon's central heating cover). I've never had the misfortune to deal with a worse company. 9 days to get an engineer out to the boiler - and they think that's acceptable!! Contract runs out at the end of January so isn't being renewed. A case of pay peanuts....

British Gas coming tomorrow to fix the boiler (they can get here quicker than the shower above can get a manager to phone back!!), and new contract set up with them for the next 12 months.

I don't normally get angry but this lot have got right under my skin!!

Cheers

Have you looked into acupuncture, my sister has IBS and swears by it. It doesn't work straight away, but will do after a several sessions, and the acupuncturist knew my sister was pregnant before my sister got to the 12wk stage.

So it might be an option to look at, and its drug free.

Yeah, the NHS Trust are now launching a full investigation into this. Also got a reply from my MP, passed the details onto them as well and MP says he will make sure this is investigated. Shocking really. I just thank God it wasn't anything more serious, like a cancerous tumour or something like that.

I feel like I let myself down as I had to have sedatives during my angiogram. I hate being weak :(

Nothing to be ashamed of dilli, last angiogram I had @3.00am after being admitted for heart attack I couldn't have much cared what they did.

We're all keeping our fingers crossed for you dilli.

My moan:
Quotations: Trying to work out first how much I want to charge minimum to cover my time and overheads and then trying to judge how much extra to add on and still get the client to place the order and think he's getting a good deal as well. :erm:

Still must be doing something right as they keep coming back. Maybe I'm too cheap. :D

Behave!!!!! No way have you let yourself down.

What you are going through would have the strongest person in the world asking for anything that would help them. Hope you and Natalie hear something positive soon.

Massive hugs to you both.

My copy of Mediacoder (0.6.2) has broken and I can't find a new copy anywhere that AVG doesn't say is carrying a payload of viri/adware/toolbars etc. :(

Temporarily using handbrake to prepare .mkv files (H264 and AC3/AAC) that the smart TV likes. Works but nowhere near as flexible as Mediacoder.

BTW current versions of Mediacoder are junk as well as giving AVG a fit.

Not sure if this will be good for you but i use it to mux the audio on MKV movies to AC3/AAC for my Xbox One and it is very quick and easy to do, also sometimes do the video too but not often.

Try it out it maybe what you need.

How to use

1. Open the movie file
2. If you want to change the audio from DTS to AAC then click 'Audio output' on the left and select AAC(faac)
3. If you plan on leaving the video untouched, then leave that part set to 'copy'
4. If you want the output file to be an MKV then select 'MKV Muxer'.
5. Click the 'Save' icon at the top.
6. Job done after a few minutes.

The coder did that, I just want to reload the copy I had as I was getting a faulty .dll warning.

Marmite:

It does have quite a lot of salt but you only need a tiny amount of the stuff...

Managed to rescue an earlier copy (0.6.0) from backups. Since the major registry entries were still intact just needed to copy the working files over. It'll do until I can locate the 0.6.2 version.

So the news is I was rushed to addenbrookes hospital last night to start emergency dyalysis as the dye from the angiogram has killed my kidneys. I must admit at the moment I don't feel positive.
