A Froch Groves trailer is available from the front menu of Tivo.

No sign of it being available in HD though :(

It would be silly of ITV to leave their new channel exclusive to sky for too long because advertisers and potential advertisers will want to reach as many people as possible. I`m not really bothered about not getting it just now as it will only carry repeats which are a plenty already from other ITV channels. When they start showing new and exclusive drama I might feel a little different.

I aren't too bothered about having this channel from launch either.

As others have said, it will initially show repeats. Even if it is still in it's exclusivity period when new content starts to be shown, my understanding is that it will premier on Encore first and then be shown on ITV shortly afterwards. I can wait, especially as I often tend to record a complete series before watching it anyway :)

As for the asian channnels, VM obviously believe that there are enough of them in this country (that will take Pay TV) to make it a worthwhile business venture.

And what's so bad about ITV ? Like most TV networks they've had failures but they've also had a lot of hits for instance they did ok at this years BAFTAS and in 2013 won channel of the year. I welcome all channels who invest in homegrown UK content rather than buying masses and masses of American imports we have quite enough of that already.

I always remember Horizon, that was on Cable. VM took if off saying it was not a good channel.

It was a very good channel - similar to History today.

As for Encore, l will tget that on Freesat from Sky.

You won't as it'll be part of their entertainment pack.

VM did not "take it off saying it was not a good channel". It closed, and was replaced by UKTV Documentary and UKTV People. In fact that was in 2004, so VM didn't even exist at that point.

I'm sorry to be harsh but you're entitled to your opinions but not to your facts. VM did not remove the UK Horizons channel as a) VM was not around then b) UK Horizons closed on all platforms and new channels were launched by UKTV instead. Secondly, as stated earlier, ITV Encore is a subscription channel so cannot be viewed on Freesat from Sky. I strongly recommend you take the time to read the links that people have posted in response to your earlier statement especially this one: http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/itv-encore?DCMP=knc

Don't know if this has already been posted, but there is an article in the Financial pullout section of the Sunday Express, claiming that Virgin have already done a deal with Sky for all the sports channels to be broadcast in HD, anyone know about this? I've just had a look at Sky sports channels 3 and 4 and they are still in SD.

Wwe network coming to uk in time for summerslam, how this will go down with sky exclusive deal I don't know but if what I have been told today we are looking at £10 per month still a bargain in my eyes as ppv charges thru sky are a joke and will be in hd.
Chance of seeing app thru TiVo slim due to sky deal but you never know, wwe need the subscribers and they see uk as there biggest fan base outside the USA.

Who will pay £10 a month in the UK when the equivalent of paying the $10 a month equates to no more than £7 or £8 a month. Don't think many will take the subscription up. I certainly won't be switching to UK subscription.

Just Notts TV coming tonight.
With STV Glasgow set to launch on June 2nd.
Local TV Broadcasters Made in Bristol, Made in Leeds and Bay TV Liverpool say they will also launch on Virgin Media sometime in 2014.

Local TV means just that.

STV Glasgow is only available in Glasgow areas*. You local TV Channel is London Live

It the same for Freeview viewers.

For your wife.

Reporting Scotland is broadcast on Virgin Channel 862.
With BBC Radio Scotland on Virgin Channel 930.

*If you have STV West (Glasgow, Motherwell) you will also get STV Glasgow.

Presumably Freesat and Sky viewers can just change their post code in to order to receive the local TV service linked to that post code. Obviously this can't be done on VM.

It's likely, as with the BBC & ITV english local regions, these will be line fed to the local headends, & not on VM's core network.

Not sure if this is available to VM from July

MUTV goes HD

Manchester United's new beginning will coincide with a new era for MUTV this summer as it becomes the first club channel in the UK to broadcast in HD.

This exciting upgrade, effective from July, means fans will be able to watch the Reds' live pre-season games in stunning high definition for the very first time, as new manager Louis van Gaal takes the team to the United States on Tour 2014, presented by Aon.

Yes, they have to restrict local TV as the rights are not UK-wide. London Live for example shows a host of TV reruns from mainstream networks that it could not show nationally (eg The Fast Show, Black Books, Coupling, Misfits, London's Burning).

Andrew, I can't help but get a feeling of deja vu here. It reminds me of the bright new world of local FM radio unleashed in the 80s. Lots of bold, new ventures that pretty soon found they couldn't make it pay and so were either hoovered up by the big media players or gave the authorities an ultimatum that either they were allowed to merge with a neighbouring channel or they would close. The Authorities reluctantly agreed, and then they were hoovered up by the big media players anyway.

And in those days there was a lot of interest in those channels because there was limited choice, that isn't the case these days. I fear they are the wet dream of politicians who wish to re-engage us with politics and see local issues as the way to do so. However I also fear that repeats of 'The Fast Show' or similar will swamp the viewing figures for 'Dog Mess Hunters' (I'm being satirical, but trying to make a serious point) leading to 'Dog Mess Hunters' being cancelled.

Great news for content owners though. When G.O.L.D. has repeated something to death and back, there's always local TV, they'll show it. :D

Probably a lot more than when Champions League games have been on for the last 18 Years... champions league football can only be broadcast live in the UK currently by Sky and ITV. When the champions league is on don't bet against UTD plating highly lucrative friendlies in places such as Dubai and Qatar against AC Milan and other High profile absentees, these will be on MUTV HD.

Actually Local TV distribution is done centrally. The video on this page explains how and why: http://comux.co.uk/about-us/

The channels are fed by landline from Comux to VM, and then carried on the VM core network. The local headends pick up only the channels they need in their region.

With the odd exception, VM abandoned all local channel insertion when NGTV was implemented.

Sky1 +1 is broadcasting on Virgin Media right now - but only in Smallworld areas.

Maybe for all we know 'Channel D' may stand for 'Sky Channel D'.

Virgin are testing Sky Sports 3 HD, Sky Sports 4 HD and Sky Sports F1 HD right now (Info from DS Forum.)

Plus before 1989 Sky1 was called Sky Channel.

I just don't get that! Why all this pishing about with dates when they've already agreed to let Virgin have the channels in HD? Really Mod Edit. Please do not use asterisks to bypass the swear filter:me off all this crap, surely the proverbial "flick of the switch" is all that's required!

Obviously more than just a flick of a switch or indeed it would have happened. Part of it may be due to some channels moving.

If it's the occasional channel they will. But there is only space on the EPG for two Sky Sports channels in HD after Sky Sports 1HD and Sky Sports 2 HD and there are three channels to fit in now and possibly a fourth later, Sky Sports News HD. It's unlikely that VM would want to split them up and less likely that Sky would allow them. Bit more chat on the subject here. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/11...l-numbers.html

You would be best off asking Sky. I am no expert but I agree a flick of the switch is all that is probably required, but sky have every right to withhold the channels for as long as they want. Sky may well think that the content they are showing on SS F1, 3 and/or 4 HD is worth keeping exclusive for the next few weeks. Annoying as it is for many people on here, Sky are (rightly or wrongly) just showing good business sense.

Long overdue. With the exception of launching a certain withheld Sky channel this is the best thing that Virgin Media could do to enhance viewers' experience IMO.

I think that to earn the title 'dynamic' the EPG must be able to change to reflect what's actually on TV at any one time rather than what was scheduled to be on when the compilers of the EPG last updated it. This would mean that if, for instance, a football match overran a recording you set immediately after it would be shifted to accommodate this. At least, this is my understanding. Perhaps a more tech-savy contributor can expand on this.
