Its always nice for the excuses to be wheeled out at half time as it gives you another 45 minutes to get it right.:D;)

Some of the players are totally confused. i just seen 5 man city players vs 3 liverpool players on the left hand side, and not one city player pressed.

Very poor right now

Hush you. No chat about the mighty Glasgow Rangers, back to your own league with its weekly sell outs :D :p:

Not the best result but losing most of the team over the summer has had a worse effect than expected. Plus the tackle on Black not receiving a red card was a shocker.

Meh, large away support. Always going to get idiots. It'll be more interesting to see if the PF decides to go ahead with the charges and what they were singing. The definition of 'sectarian' songs is now laughably wide.

Still no riots needing the cops to wade in with CS and make numerous arrests this week, unlike in a small Northern town last week.

Each season some tin-pot cheeky young whipper-snapper team finds itself overachieving within the top 3 of the Premiership at the start but always burns out around October/November.

I'm pretty sure Swansea qualify for this year but even if we do blow it in the next few months, we'll be known around the world as a team which if only for a few hours, has been at the top of the Premier League :D

Apparently Arsenal haven't been interested since they broke off contact earlier this summer..Spurs always seem to chase the players Arsenal are after. They have Sandro so why they need M'Vila is weird.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

There's little interest in M'Vila

Arsenal & Newcastle were both reportedly interested early window but both seem to be pursuing other targets.

Newcastle set to make a take it or leave it offer for Debuchy with a lot of talk about one final move for Andy Carroll too, £17 million.

Still no sign of this CB or ST really though if we don't land Carroll.

Keep an eye on the young Adam Campbell, Youth striker.

Tottenham want M'Vila to replace Modric. It kind of makes me laugh to be honest. And not just that but the incredible world beater hype to dire status. We'll see what happens.

Arsenal still need signings. I hope outgoing transfers can be tied up asap, there going on forever!

But M'Vila isn't a Modric type player. This is what's so weird about the situation. He isn't a creative playmaker ala Modric. He is a defensive midfielder/midfielder who is much more akin to Sandro.

thenry 27-08-2012 22:11

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

exactly. M'Vila did however do something similar to Song where he had to push up because things around him wasn't all well but unlike Song M'Vila is and will be a holder not a AM or even CM.

It happens every year really. Always a traditionally mid-table team does it. To be honest as long as we don't do a Blackpool and end up relegated I'll be happy - that'll mean another season of frustrating the Cardiff fans :)

Depends how you define 'that good'. I would be sad to see him go but we have Chamberlain so I don't think we'll be in a rush to replace him. Still think it shouldn't change our plans for next season, we need a defensive midfielder and a attacker.

Arsenal are in a perpetual state of crisis whilst Liverpool and Spurs are in a perpetual state of optimism and rebirth. I'll take the former as long as we continue to be in the Champions League.

It seems that Walcott wanted just over 100k a week so he was always likely to go. Arsenal aren't going to pay 100k a week. Man City will. Liverpool probably will.

Arsenal offered £75,000 a week. It's been turned down by Walcott's agents who are demanding £100,000 and seem to have confidence Man City or Liverpool will cough up. (Liverpool really will have gone off the deep end if they offer £100,000 give their lack of Champions League football and gate receipts. Madness).

Does anyone even believe Theo Walcott is that good of a player? I'm with the media and a majority of supporters when they say all he has his pace and not a footballing brain. I am here to be proved wrong, but I don't feel he's worth 100K and a 12 - 20M transfer fee. He has shown moments of brilliance vs Barcelona, Liverpool and for England vs Croatia but he has disappointed me overall.

Of course he isn't worth 100k but that doesn't seem anything to do with it anymore. Players wages are still sky rocketing out of proportion to the money coming into the clubs. It won't, it can't, go on like this. Football is going to enter a crisis soon. Money is a finite resource.

Walcott is still in 'discussions' with Arsenal. Screw him. Do what we did with Song, you don't play games with Wenger, you pull a stunt like this then you get shipped out. "I want more than £75,000 or I am off to Liverpool". Go then.

But the problem with that stance is at the end of the day you lose your best players to your rivals thus basically becoming more of a selling club despite being the club where the player made his name to start off with.

The alternative is to spend your way to bankruptcy. It's not a 'stance', it's a reality that Walcott isn't worth 100k a week and Arsenal have to manage their budget.

Well with the top 6 or 7 club English clubs l just cannot see that happening as the Premier League has just signed a £3 billion TV contract plus there are the riches of Champions league football as well and yes maybe Walcott is not worth 100k a week but the reality is the other big clubs will pay that without hesitation thus Arsenal lose another good player because these refuse to pay the going rate for these type of players.

The other big clubs are either funded by billionaires or don't care about debt. Very few football clubs make money. Arsenal do but if you take out property deals then it's wafer thin, they don't have a big margin to cut into. It was about £1 million last year. 10 weeks wages for Theo.

Arsenal refuse to pay it because they can't. There isn't any point saying 'other clubs will' because it's not the same. They can restructure their wage bill but in such an event players like Theo still can't be offered 100k, then so many other players would want it. It's not sustainable at all.

You can't deal with income/outcome as an abstraction that can be willed away otherwise you lose a player. Arsenal may well slide away down the table. What else can they do? Everyone else seems to work in the fairy land of infinite money.

The next 24 hours is key for any transfers left, with regards to getting a fee settled and flying in for a medical.

Debuchy deal won't require that as he's known to be injured at present but it still remains to see whether Newcastle have launched that last bid.

The Andy Carroll deal can go right to 11pm tomorrow but along with myself I'm sure many of you will agree this just seems like an unlikely deal. West Ham still have their £17 Million move accepted. Carroll's made it clear where he want's to move. Media say he'll be moved on to allow Liverpool to launch a bid for Theo Walcott.

Why Walcott would leave a club playing champions league football for one that's playing in the Europa is unknown to me. If Walcott leaves Arsenal it's gotta be for another top four team otherwise it's clearly on the basis of money only.

Agents. 100k a week. So on.

Anyway today is the Champions League Draw! Let's get the formalities out the way first. Wow! Manchester United got an easy draw didn't they? Couldn't have asked for an easier group. They'll probably have little problem getting out of it, might even be able to rest some players. Although they got caught out last time so better be careful!

Anyway, with that out of the way, there are some hard teams in there for Arsenal and Chelsea to draw. City as well. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are in pot 1. We could face a group of death like so: Arsenal/Chelsea, Valencia, PSG/Juventus, Dortmund!

City, in pot two, have it worse. This could be their group: Barcelona/Madrid, City, PSG/Juve, Dortmund.

This is what we wanted isn't it? Lots of people of the wage bill?

I am now more convinced then ever he is being made to balance the books. He keeps making indications we wants players but they never come.

Yet another over-rated waste of time prima dona and he's one player Arsenal should have got rid of a long time ago instead of selling their best players instead.

Nice to know Colin that you are more worried about my beloved team rather then your own transfer inertia at City.;):D

i only spotted it, when looking at newsnow site, manchester city feed. The site is good for finding stories about the team you are interested in, and suspect it is using some sort of word recognition.

But i am willing to read balanced reviews, no matter who writes them

Problem is that most are so biased, it is embarrassing to read. i include man city writers in that

It seems one of your players is set to leave as Nigel de Jong will sign the contract with Milan tonight.

Andy Carroll left out of the Liverpool team for tonight's game. And Remy has said that no one has contacted him about joining Tottenham.

At the moment Tottenham have more midfielders and defenders then any other club, it doesn't make sense, why Spurs are not buying strikers, other Defoe and Abi could constantly play and not score goals, they need competition.
