We are getting treated to some live boxing from Austria tomorrow night on Eurosport.
Roberto Santos Vs. Marcos Nader for the EBU-EU (European Union) middleweight title. The undercard is packed full of fighters I've never heard of. I'll still be watching though :) November is turning into one of the best months this year for televised boxing. Witter Vs. Gavin on the way in about 30 mins. I'm expecting a stink-fest. Gavin should win this without too much hassle. |

Just watched an advert for Klitschko Vs. Wach on ESPN. Very interesting indeed. The advert starts with the line:
"Something new is coming to ESPN" That suggests tonight's fight is not a one off. Finally after over 3 years are ESPN taking boxing seriously? If ESPN step up their boxing coverage, forget BT Sports, I want ESPN in my XL package! |

The ESPN TV schedule on the ESPN website shows we are being treated to some live boxing in December. Raymundo Beltran Vs. Ji-Hoon Kim will be shown live in the UK on Friday 07th December at 3:00am. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
ok so whens the december schedule getting updated?
theres plenty fights out there on other promotions you just need to put the money up to show them(i cant see them wanting that much for some of the shows from dave coldwell or steve wood) saturday 1st chagaev v perez, weber v reimer(germany) friday 7th farrell v crolla, matthews v elfidh(coldwell) saturday 8th paquiao v marquez, gamboa, gesta, vargas(usa) saturday 8th kessler v magee(denmark) friday 14th rose v webb, arnfield, askin, singleton(wood) friday 14th haskins v jamoye(belgium) friday 14th pascal v kuziemski, alvarez v miranda(canada) saturday 15th abraham v bouadla, culcay, gerber, masternak(germany) saturday 15th donaire v arce, rigondeaux (usa) saturday 22nd adamek v cunningham(usa) appart from pacquiao who you should already in talks to get the rest should be pretty easy to show even the pacquiao show should be a fight thats pretty easy to get as i sont think primetime will touch it so close to the hatton fight! |

Booooooo!!!! I would buy it if the undercard was stacked but so far it ain't. Not worth £14.95 to stay up until about 6:00am for the main event. It's been a while since a Top Rank show has been on Boxnation. Wonder if there has been a fall out? I'll catch this one for free elsewhere on Sunday morning;) I'm surprised Boxnation have not yet set in stone Kessler Vs. Magee or Abraham Vs. Bouadla. Both should be on as part of the Sauerland deal. ---------- Post added at 21:12 ---------- Previous post was at 20:09 ---------- Ricky Burns Vs. Liam Walsh is off. Walsh injured his back in a car crash. Warren is trying to find a new opponent as we speak. I'm guessing it'll be someone "in house". Would John Murray pull out of his fight against Rees to face Burns instead? Burns Vs. Murray wouldn't be a masterclass, but would be an exciting fight. Actually just thinking, a guy I work beside knows John Simpson. Simpson was prepared to go up in weight to face Scott Harrison but contrary to reports, he did not get offered the fight. He has been in training and would be ready to face Burns in December. |

Mikkel Kessler Vs. Brian Magee is on SKY Sports. A little dissapointed as I thought this would have been part of the TV deal Boxnation have with Sauerland.
Still no news on Arthur Abraham Vs. Mehdi Bouadla on the 15th December. This of course clashes with Frank Warrens show on the same night featuring Ricky Burns and George Groves. I've sent a Tweet to Boxnation and an e-mail to Sauerland to see if they still have a content deal in place, and will we continue to see Sauerland shows on boxnation. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

The cinema screen was a medium sized one at Cineworld Luton, about 25 people watched the fight, the streaming started at 9:30pm with build up for the big fight. The picture quality was surprisingly good and it was great to hear Ian Darke commentate on a fight again! The only thing that annoyed me was the stream switched off abruptly a few minutes after the fight, not allowing us to hear the post fight interviews and summing up:mad: Chad I would recommend seeing a big fight on the big screen as a one off, but with no undercard to view it is not value for money overall! |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
Thanks for the review Mhatter. I'm going to try and catch the next big one in the cinema. Sorry to hear you missed the post fight interviews, those where actually the most dramatic part of the night! Ricky was crying, almost sobbing, saying he's not a failure etc... The man clearly has demons, and last night didn't exorcise them.
In a separate matter, the guys from Sauerland in Germany replied to my e-mail this morning: "We have in general a deal for all shows with Boxnation. The Kessler show was an exception. Abraham will be on Boxnation again." That's good news as I was starting to think Boxnation and Sauerland no longer had a deal in place. |

I'm going to give Buncey a call tomorrow on the 2 hour live show. Going to tell him a story about how we ended up in a strip club in Edinburgh and paying £5.00 per head to watch Scott Harrison fight live on ITV on their big TV screen. No pubs would let us in. The girls got up and danced in between the undercard fights. Ironically the very place we where in was the strip club Scott Harrison was refused entry to, which made the papers here, about 4 weeks ago when he was out drunk! The irony of it all. |

Amir Khan has signed a 3 fight deal with Showtime in America. His deal here in the UK with SKY however has just expired. It will be interesting to see where Khan goes from here. When he signed a 3 fight deal with SKY I remember him being on Ringside with talk of him facing Mayweather within 18 months. I got the impression SKY signed the deal thinking they where going to get a super fight. Instead they got Petersen, Garcia and Molina. I wonder if SKY want to renew with him? Primetime didn't really work for Khan. Boxnation and ESPN are now viable options. The Scottish press are suggesting Ricky Burns team are trying to set up a another Battle of Britain with Amir Khan in the summer. I can't see it happening but it would be interesting. |

Warren lets slip how many viewers / subscribers Boxnation have. Listen from 10:45 onwards. He seems to be suggesting Boxnation have 200,000 subscribers which is twice he figure the channel needed to break even. He did also mention at around the 6:00 mark that Boxnation are 100% ahead of their target for subscribers. The interview is pretty interesting, especially the first 5 minutes when he discloses what SKY used to pay him. |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
looking forward to 2013 on the uk and irish scene theres so great matchups to be had if the promoters dont get in the way!
heavyweight- fury v price is the fight people are talking about but also either of them against haye would also be a great fight but the fight i think is more likely to happen would be price v chisora who is a good fight for price as its a step up from who hes fought up to now. cruizerweight- afolabi is better than the rest at this weight so cant see him fighting anyone from over here but there would be some decent fights involving the likes of dickinson, askin, dawson, conquest, simmons, camacho,pr ice and the lad jumah who has just signed with sauerland. lightheavyweight- cleverley and bellew could fight again but i think they will more than likely fight big fights in 2013 in america against the likes of hopkins, dawson, shumenov, pascal, cloud or possibly against braemer or gutknecht and id like to see callum johnson and miles shinkwin pushed on a bit as the rest of the uk light heavys arent the best and they should be looking to fight the likes of mcphilbin, ajisafe, mckenzie, dickinson, maccarinelli, mcintosh, dodson. supermiddleweight- froch has his eyes on massive fights with ward and kessler as well as groves and degale who will want to fight people like abraham, oosthuizen, stieglitz, pavlik, bute, dirrell,t aylor, stevenson as i think they are around that level now but id also like to see fights between magee, smith, anderson, fielding, buglioni these would be 50\50 fights and that is what we want. middleweight-this is avery good weight division at the moment theres the fights we have all been wanting macklin v barker, macklin v murray, murray v barker but weve also got billy joe saunders who i think could be better than them alland andy lee will want the chance to fight any of them.theres some other good fights to be had at middleweight eubank v etches is coming to boiling point aswell as john ryder and then theres a few foriegn fighted able to fight for a bbbc belt proksa and quato not to mention hope, mcewan, okane, aston, arnfield, blackwell all wanting big fights in 2013 lightmiddleweight- there isnt that much talent at this weight but there is some good fights to be had with brian rose, ochieng, aaron, liam smith, cox, hall, alharbi, selkirk, ekundayo. welterweight- kell brook is fighting in america and is on the brink of some massive fights at world level but over here we should be seeing fights involving frankie gavin, vassell, purdy, anwar, heffron, skeete, brough,ho lmes, saunders and could fight some of the older lads like lynes,m hatton. lightwelterweight- khan wont be fighting at british level any time soon but again theres some decent fights there involving mccloskey, hamilton, theophane, williams, woodhouse,si ngleton, cardle, limond and even alex arthur if hes not retired. lightweight- i expect rees to get beat by broner in february and then burns to also get beat by him in may so if they dont get other fights at that level theres some great 50\50 fights to be had here. burns, rees, mitchell, murray, harrison(if hes not locked up),mathews, crolla.l walsh, flannigan you could pick em out of a hat and it would be a great fight. superfeatherweight- buckland, sykes, simpson, appleby, clark would all be good fights and the upcoming mitchell smith is one to watch. featherweight-selby,s smith, lindsay, dickens, murray superbantemweight-quigg v frampton is the one to watch but theres also galahad and the walsh bothers ryan and michael who are good to watch and i still think theres life left in rendall munroe and we may see him in the ring again bantamweight-mcdonnell haskins, hall, ward are all decent but kal yafai looks really impressive and may blow them all away on his way up the ranking at the lower weights weve also got butler, donnelly, satchell.edwards and bayaar then people can go up or down in weight and make some other great fights but theres one think that may stop these fights from happening PROMOTERS!!!!! frank warren, eddy hearn, frank maloney, mick hennessy, ricky hatton, dave coldwell, steve wood and any other promoters i havent mentioned make the fights happen!!! |

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
looks like januarys schedule is sorted with the announcements of salido v garcia and the geale v mundine on delayed viewing but now not content with that we look forward to february and theres a few cards that should be added to boxnation!
friday 1st: sturm v soliman saturday 2nd: the return of jaunma lopez who was involved in one of the fights of 2012 saturday 9th nielson v mendy, miskirtchian v evensen and pro debut of deon jumah also this is a sauerland event so should definatley on boxnation saturday 23rd: golota v saleta, szpilka v zimnoch, glazewski v grafka, laszczyk v cieslak |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
It looks like BT is going to buy BoxNation.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/g...g-8449350.html I must admit I’m not surprised. When Simon Green, CEO of BoxNation, moved to BT a few months back I had concerns BT would try and outbid BoxNation for boxing rights. It was in the back of my mind they may try and buy the channel somewhere down the line. I currently pay £10.00 per month for ESPN and £10.00 per month for BoxNation. If BT do purchase BoxNation, and ESPN pull out of the UK market, I’ll be signing up for BT Sports as long as it’s no more expensive than £20.00 per month. Thanks to Muppetman for the link. |

Clearly you find me and my views irresistible. Wherever I post you follow. I do appreciate the attention however it’s becoming a bit creepy. I have no need for a Cable Forum stalker. Your views and opinions are of no interest to me. These continual back and fourth debates are tiresome and add no value to my Cable Forum experience. As a result I’ve added you to my ignore list. We will no longer be able to communicate to one another via the forum and I won’t be able to see any of your future posts. Sorry to break your heart but it’s for your own good. Don’t waste the remainder of your life bickering with the likes of me. Go enjoy your family and friends. Time is too precious to be spent here trying to find arguments that don’t exist. |

I see that he can not - Sad response . Poor soul.
For the record. I look at all posts & respond as and when. Human nature is my "money earner". Would love to understand the reason behind his choices. Bless |
Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?
Some useful info for anyone who ever leaves Virgin, joins SKY, and wants to keep Boxnation.
Even though I've been a subscriber from day 1, I still had to pay a £10 registration fee up front when re-subscribing to the channel via SKY. Also it’s £10.00 per box, not £10.00 per household. With Virgin I got access to BoxNation in my livingroom and bedroom for £10.00 per month. To do the same via SKY, it’s £20.00 When it comes to BoxNation, Virgin is the best value for money. |

I agree about the whole 12 month contract thing. I've kept all my cabling for Virgin in tact. If after 12 months I can't afford SKY, or I am unhappy for any reason, I can go back to Virgin. No doubt it will be a 18 month contract however I should be able to get the first 6 months for half price. Who knows, in 12 months time maybe BT Vision will be more attractive, price wise, than both SKY and Virgin. ---------- Post added at 21:42 ---------- Previous post was at 19:59 ---------- Just checked my confirmation of subscription e-mail from Boxnation. If I refer a friend to them I get 1 month free subscription. They have a limit of 12 referrals. If I beaver away on the various boxing forums I visit, I could wangle a free year of Boxnation viewing. |
