I'm on VIP50 and requested to upgrade to TIVO, as a family member works for Virgin I get a discount that’s called mates rates.
The sales team are unable to apply any previous discount rates you may of got and you are signing up to a new 12 months contract at the VIP20/50 or 100 rates advertised

So if there are others who have just ordered who thinks existing discount/mates rates will continue you may want to double check with CS.

I'm having problems and cancelled my order.

I was worried about that too, so double checked at the end of my call to order (Still no email!) that mates rates would continue, and I was told that it would still apply.

If it doesn't then they'll have to deal with a very angry me.

Not too sure about that as you would still end up with crossovers on each thread:confused:

Glad for you :D:D:D:D

I probably think i do have something extra to equate the extra £3.00 on my bill but is a small amount soi will wait for my first new bill to come in and check it as easier when i have a hard copy of the bill which is itemised than go through it all on the phone with them at the moment .

Am happy that is it being instaled on Wednesday 13th and will have a new toy to play with lol. :)

I have just been told by CS that once the TIVO order goes through is get my family member to complete the mates rate offer form again.

After seeing everyone report their install dates, I'm impressed with VM with how close the install dates are after sending out the emails. It makes up for the 4+ months between registering and getting an email :)

So does that mean all VIP20 upgrades to VIP50 will not be charged an extra £30 activation charge, and only be charged the £149.95 TIVO installation?

I think it's probably too late in the day now, but if I haven't got it by early tomorrow morning I very likely will do that. I was trying to be 'good' and not queue-jump, but I can't stand it LOL! I like the way you handled it, so will very probably ring tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed I get a CS agent who's as helpful as yours was :)

Ive had the email: Q: How long will the option to phone and get it for £150 be for.
2: Would you keep the Cisco box as your second box. or the Samsung V+, reason i ask is one of the original features mentioned was the ability to stream recordings from the tivo to a V HD box, now this really appeals to me, but will this be possible with a V+?
Thanks.

Strange that I'd be told it'll stay on and you've been told it won't.

Any staffers able to say what should happen?

I'm not too keen on upgrading if it does disappear, it was a nightmare getting the discount sorted in the first place!

I ordered 2 boxes and was told it was 2 X £149. I paid by credit card just in case the raised credit level only allowed for one box and things got delayed trying to sort things out (he said I could just add it to my bill, but I thought I'd err on the safe side).

Fair enough - just confused me for a minute (though it doesn't take much this past couple of weeks LOL).

I think I will do as passingbat suggests tomorrow. If I remember rightly CS closes at 8, so I figured even trying at 7 with all those calling after work might be a bit of a nightmare. I'll ring tomorrow morning.

Heading off to start watching my V+ to get it cleared in anticipation...

Well he 'tried' to be helpful, but I got absolutely nowhere. He said there wasn't anything he could access from my account and he couldn't give out the number, that the email should hopefully be with me in the next 24 hours. He said there was an email on the system which he's sent out to me, but it's just a generic TiVo information one as though I've just rung and wanted to find out a bit more - not even the info that was in last week's email.

This is depressing now that I actually called! I tried to explain others have got that info, but he was adamant that there was no info he could give me, that it would all be in the email which would arrive in due course :(

Yup - I suspect a few got through and perhaps there has been a warning sent round to have agents say wait.

Good stuff. And as an XL customer, it's not like I'm going to actually miss out on the free installation by waiting until I'm called? i.e. By being a pre-reg qualifying customer and waiting til contacted, I'm still guaranteed the discounted and free install offer? And guaranteed installed in April?

That must have been where I got through to earlier, it was certainly a challenge with a lot of hold music after each question I asked. To be fair though, having called 150 billing everything seems to have gone to plan.... touch wood. :p:

That's the final piece of the TiVo puzzle, I honestly think if they can nail the features & functionality of the US app we'll be in for a treat. :D

An iPhone app would also be great for remote recording etc.

Yeah I would expect an iPhone TiVo remote record app , I know on sky I use a Sky+ app on my android phone and I have one for my iPod touch and iPad so I would expect TiVo to support quite a few phones. You will be made up when these arrive they are great if your out and have forgot something.

Yeah, I used them 18 months or so ago when I was a Sky HD customer. Missed it all this time on VM so remote record will be a very welcome addition to Virgin's arsenal. :)

Defo and the TIVO iPad app doubles as a remote and has all the search and record features of your box.

What time are the sales team there till?

I rang a couple of hours ago but for some reason the note on the account that gives me authorisation to make changes has been removed (I am not the account holder but the direct debit for the bills is my bank account hence I have control) and the "very nice lady" I spoke to could not authorise it without speakiong to the account holder.

Account holder expected back in the next 10 minutes!

I got my TIVO booked for 28th April finally after trying to use the cordless phone from 6pm to 9pm. Pressing 1 on the VM site gives a horrible ring sound and then you get back to press 1 to book a TIVO message:mad:

Then tried to use the mobile phone, I live in a very bad reception area - conected a couple of times but keeped droping calls:bigcry:

Did not think it would work but tried the free version of skype connected:shocked: but he could not hear me:banghead:

Loaded skype on my IPAD it worked and booked my TIVO:cleader:

Is that what you got? If so there may not be an order code?

This was placed on another forum from an email:

Quote:

Coming 16th May, our 500GB Tivo box. Exclusively for existing customers

Tivo 500GB box
Storage for around 250 hours of standard TV
£49.95 for box activation
£3 additional monthly fee on TV XL
£40 installation fee applies

Prices correct as at 04/11
Sorry, late to the Email-Dispatch party but...that quote implies that the 500Gb version is available to existing customers only.

Ugh. Didn't get the email today. Haven't gotten anything like the 1000 lucky ones with the remote, or the raffle, bleh. Had a carp day today too. You see, I had to eat only carp fish for dinner. It was bleh.

So, with everyone phoning and making install bookings before getting the email.....will there be any April installation slots left for us patient people? :erm:

And why are VM accepting these booking requests over the phone? If that's the case, they might as well said 'phone this number now to book your installation!'

Been waiting for that new organ for 4 months now you know! ;)

My body suffers from Pre-HD Withdraw and is only able to deal with 20 hours of HD at any one time. I need this organ NOW or I'm complaining to the NHS, and then Virgin. ;)

Don't worry - spoke to the sales team half an hour ago.

Have upgraded to VIP50 and TiVo - install is happening on Saturday afternoon (in 5 days times). Must say I was mighty impressed by the install date and another "very nice lady" who was very clear and concise.

She also added a note to the account authorising myself (as well as the actual account holder) to make changes.

Not really, more like people being chancers and blagging their way and queue jumping.

Thanks to forums though, they are now aware of the methods used and there shouldn't be any more queue jumping. ;)

Oh, as well as #989 above, I also received a text message soon after placing my TiVo order, letting me know my 'new premium TV channels from VM Entertainment will be ready to watch within the hour'.

Is that normal in this case?

Cheers

Yes. Any channels added (via pack upgrade or Premium channels) are usually available within an hour. This is perfectly normal.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Hi All newbie here,

I did the same as you all and phoned up and got an install for Friday (Woop).

I can see some people are angry at VM because they have patiently waited in their e-mail but I can imagine that when they opened this morning they had every intention of only selling to those that had received their e-mails but due to forums like this and blogs they were probably inundated with most pre reg customers phoning and all they would be doing would be knocking people back with only the odd sale. They really would have no choice but to open the sale to everyone who phoned just so they could get through it.

Remember Virgin haven't really advertised this yet have found themselves with over 50,000 pre reg customers, they have not publicly (i mean through their website or adverts) advertised availabity but done so through private e-mails, they no doubt didn't expect this sort of volume, I don't see it as a c*ck up but more of a bit of naievity as to the awareness of availability times and dates due to forums

I wouldn't call calling CS and being totally upfront and honest about the situation blagging their way through.

If VM had said 'no' to all the people who phoned but hadn't had the email, this situation wouldn't have happened. It would have soon spread round the forums that there was no point riniging, just as it quickly spread that there was a point

You seem to be putting all the blame on the people ringing up and not where it really belongs.

I wanted to stick to the planned system, and it was a difficult decision as to wheather to ring up. But VM weren't sticking to the planned system.
