I didn't know about this. I'm waiting to see what the new VIP packs are - I might go to 50mb depending

Because i would have had to pay the £7.00 or cancel the HD Movies etc next month I have taken the plunge and upgraded to VIP50 for the modem £20 activation fee only and and the price has only gone up by £2.00.
It was installed yesterday with no problem, now have a super hub which was installed were I wanted it and a brand new V-HD box which replaced the old V box.

Not a winge, how will this affect VIP50 customers, seems like another (well deserved) improvement for other customers that isn't being reflected in improved services for VIP50 customers?

Apparently they are to change the VIP50 bundle sometime soon. Can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about the VIP50 but many of us on the original VIP contacted the Exec office and they said that they were looking at changing the VIP bundle and look to relaunch it at the beginning of 2011.

Interestingly, that link worked on the day it was posted but is coming up as "Oops! This link appears to be broken" now. What has changed? Have they taken this upgrade path away?

Think the news about upgrade "escaped" before it should, guess someone put live a page, which should have only gone on a test system. Think an announcement is due 1st February.

I was recently contacted by a member of the CEO office with regards to the VIP package. He stated that the VIP package is to be revamped by the end of the first quarter, I reckon that this will be nice timing for the release of TIVO.Maybe a super VIP package will be released with TIVO and an upgrade for the VIP50 but I am just speculating.

I was one of the customers who contacted the CEO office. A lady called Diane gave me free HD channels for 6 months whilst they looked at the VIP bundles. Well as of this month I noticed they have started charging me the £7 for the HD channels.

I emailed Diane to enquire what was going on with regard to the VIP packages and got an email from some one else saying Diane no longer worked in the CEO office and that I should ring 150 about any service changes.

that would be good. I don't mind the install and setup fee but am hoping that VIP50 customers get the monthly fee waived. or yes, a completely new Tivo bundle.

I was in a catagory of TIVO is too expensive until just about everyone I have spoken to(or read about) have raved and raved about it! So now I will be purchasing a box when it becomes available! I do hope they do a super package in the futre with TIVO and 100mb even if it is considerably more expensive it will be worth it!

Latest VIP bill has got the £7 charge on it for the HD channels so will be calling in the morning to get that sorted.
I know at the time a lot of people said it was only for 6 months but when I dealt with Diane I think it was on the phone she said about relaunching the VIP hopefully Q1 2011 and would waive this fee until that was the case

Now as it was a phonecall I have no proof so I can see it ending in me cancelling the HD part and also having a moan about my internet and lack of Tivo info while I'm at it.

Unless Virgin use the same call recording system that one of my previous employers did (when I used to work for an energy supplier 4 years ago) which is a pc based system that records all calls from all advisors all day every day for at least a 3 month period.

Can i ask something which i dont understand

I am on VIP50 and on my bills ever since i upgraded it showing the HD Channels at £7 but it does not show a credit of £7 so is the credit in with something else?

I still dont understand virgins billing.

Hi

Still waiting on any details of revamped packages eagerly but .... wont VIP20 disapear or rebrand VIP30 ??? and if so I sure hope they up the VIP50 to VIP100 free too or I will be an unhappy chappy feeling the top VIP is again loosing value for money.

My wish is VIP Gold is launched to replace VIP50 and includes top broadband speed (whatever that is and always upgraded to stay up to date) combined with Tivo. But sadly my gut feeling is the top VIP will again loose its shine as it did in the past but I suppose I should try to stay positive and hope for a VM suprise to shock even the pessimistic me.

I am seriously considering leaving Virgin... I really don't want to but the wait for the revamped VIP and the TiVo services is getting beyond a joke and add this to the launch of Sky Atlantic, the loss of Virgin channels such as Bravo and great offer coming through my door from sky I just don't know what to do?

I do agree Virgin do need to get TIVo out there but the channel losses are Sky's call and they were never going to give VM Atlantic from launch.

For a communication company they seriously lack the ability to communicate. It's silly because if they just came out and told us their was a delay and explained how much it will all cost and when the new release date will be and so on then I would be OK. Problem is all I am seeing is deals, and exclusives andnew things being released from sky and what feels like empty promises from Virgin.:dozey:

Andy

Just got my discount extended for a further 6 months (I'm on VIP50) after emailing Neil Berkett this afternoon and then getting a phone call from a very nice and apologetic lady within the hour. I asked her if there was any news yet on the revamped VIP packages and wether TIVO would be included in one of them but she said there is nothing concrete yet.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

I just want 100% confirmation from someone on here who knows what they are talking about in regards to the VIP bundle.

I had the £7 added to my bill for HD channels that I was previously getting a credit for due to the complaint like a lot of us made to the Exec office.
So I called 150 - through to billing (overseas) and said I wanted to know why I was being charged for this now. After many minutes on hold he came back to say he could only presume it was a 6 month deal as there were no notes on my account about it. I said well I was told it was on until the VIP bundle had been relaunched in Q1 2011. I said well how could you presume it was a 6 month deal then when there is no notes about it and he admitted he could see the previous credits.
So I said as he wasn't budging and I wasn't happy to just remove the premium HD add on. He said he could not as it was part of the bundle??!?!? I said I didn't think it was but he was sure and telling me to check the website etc. I was not able to as I was off out for the weekend and just got back to see no mention of premium HD as part of the VIP(20) bundle.

So am I able to bin the £7 charge and continue as normal?

It's not part of a bundle. It's still currently a "bolt-On" subscription to Sky Sports/Movies.

I'd call back and speak to Customer Relations if you don't get anywhere with Customer Care.

You don't have to be thinking of leaving to talk to customer relations. You can talk to them if you're not happy with the responce you get from customer Service.

I spoke to them several months ago because I wasn't happy with the CS response to an issue I had. I told them upfront I wasn't thinking of leaving, but was unhappy with the CS response. They sorted it out to my satisfaction.

As a very longstanding customer, they told me to always go to them if I had any issues. They can do things that CS can't. TBH, I vary rarely have issues with my VM service.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

This morning I had to have a visit from a Tech, as my old but faithful SA V+ box (with which I have been more than happy) finally gave up the ghost. He replaced it with a shiny new Samsung. Over the years, I have read a lot on these forums about how much quicker and more responsive the Samsung box was, compared to the SA. I admit to not really believing the hype and thought much of it was exaggeration. Well, I was wrong! The Sammy is just streets ahead of the SA, I am really impressed!
Anyway, to the point, I am on the VIP 50 package and have a second box in another room which is an old (it has NTL on the front!) Samsung ordinary box. When VM eventually get around to letting us have Tivo, would I be able to put that where my V+ is now, put the V+ where the old box is now and lose that box? After all I had to pay the install fee for the V+, so would like to think I will be able to keep it.
If I am able to do this, is it likely to be a higher monthly fee than just having a Tivo and a V box?

Yes you can do that, or you can call up and get a V HD box right now to replace the Samsung for a one off delivery fee with no activation charge as you are on VIP :)

How much custom are you lot loosing with some of these idiots you have there.

I asked if I could swap my standard def box for the V HD box. First I was asked why I wanted to do this, was I not happy with my Broadband. Finally managed to explain it was a TV box I wanted to swap.

I was first quoted £49 for an install. I said I only want to swap one box for another so can I do a self install.

I was quoted £69.95. Who are these people, and why don't they know what they are talking about.

I am on VIP50. Please someone tell me what I want to do it possible and how much if anything it is going to cost.

Thank you.

It's not. You are asking for a upgrade to a box you already have. Everyone has to pay to HD activation fee. You then get the basic HD channels on that box as part of your subscription.

Don't get it. I have a standard def box which is yonks old, got when I first got cable about 5 years ago, and I have VIP50. So I would have already paid activation on the HD box downstairs (V+) and just want HD upstairs which is what I would get if I was going for a completely new install.

Looking on the website for VIP packages there is no mention of HD activation at all. Just install. Well I would like to do a self install.

I`ve just had the same conversation with customer services and I reckon its hit and miss of who you get to talk to. The first 2 agents wouldnt budge on the £49 and £20 ( the £20 i was happy to pay, but I kept telling them the hd activation should be free on the vip50), anyway I said no thanks and rang a 3rd time. This time he said it was ok, no charge, the only other thing is, he arranged for an engineer swap out when a self install would have done but he still said no charge. I`ll be keeping an eye on my next bill.
He even waived the £20 but we`ll see :)

HD activation is per box, not per account. Self install is £20.

But you are upgrading a box to HD. HD is included in XL, but not all XL customers have it as they don't have a V-HD or V+HD. They don't get free HD activation either.

It's in the T&C's

Quote:

HD: HD activation fee is £49.95 with all TV packages for all new Virgin TV customers (subject to status and credit checks). Standard installation fee (£40) remains payable. HD activation fee of £49.95 only applies to first HD Box. For second and subsequent HD Boxes, HD activation is charged at £99.95 per V+ HD Box, or £49.95 per V HD Box. V+ subscription is included with TV size XL or £5.10 a month with TV size M, TV size M+ (Starter) and TV size L. Existing customers who do not wish to keep their SD box must pay a £49.95 HD activation fee for a V HD/V+HD box. HD TV set required. V+ HD must be kept for your minimum contract term. V+ HD Box may differ to that depicted. V+ HD Box remains the property of Virgin Media. Channels may be subject to change, regional variations.

---------- Post added at 13:30 ---------- Previous post was at 13:27 ----------

the only ones that could over-ride this would be Customer Relations. Staff in Customer Care will be following the guidelines I've quoted.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

So what does this mean then

1. All customers ordering our VIP (Very Impressive Package) or VIP 50Mb bundles will receive V HD and V+ HD activations for free.

And if it is the case I have to pay £69.95 I think they can poke it. I already pay £99 a month for my services, if they think I am going to pay an activation fee for something which I should have anyway, i will cancel the whole lot.

---------- Post added at 14:37 ---------- Previous post was at 13:57 ----------

Well seriously guys you have really got to start to sort this out. Because Now I have been told I am correct there is no activation fee but they can't physically put a self install on the system for additional boxes/box swaps so I would have to pay £40 for installation.

Now this is the third price I have been quoted so far. And I have to say, frankly sums up the mess CS is at Virgin Media.

I am quite happy to pay £20 for the self install but just can't seem to get anyone to do it.

I was going to be quite happy to get a TIVO box as well, but now I think I might give it a miss. Heaven knows what the bill would look like.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

The 1. above means on initial install. If you decide later on then the standard charges normally apply.

Actually thinking about it, I don't think we currently offer self installs for 2nd, 3rd boxes etc.

Is the £40 for manned install? £40 sounds like a bargain to me for what you'd be getting :)

What I am getting is what I should already have if I wasn't a loyal customer that was with Virgin Media before I got VIP50. Why do I have to pay for it. I am only asking for what I should already have.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package

Emailed Exec Office about the £7 charge of the HD channels and the blatant duff information about if I wanted to stop having the HD channels I would have to ditch the whole VIP buncle as it was now included.
All they did was reply saying the £7 credit was a 6 month goodwill gesture and no firm news on the VIP update.
They decided to completely dodge any comment about the false info I was given. All they did do was suggest I amy likr to upgrade to VIP50 as it was included in that package.

So after seeing the fees have been waived for upgrades to 50Mb can I just call up and get this sorted for free apart from the obvious increase per month?

£40 for a tech to swap a box. I used to do it, and a box swap, even if we needed to change the tap at the cab took no more than ten minutes.

Which means you are paying £240 per hour, and possibly having to wait in for half a day as the slots are am, pm or late.

Not so much of a bargain looking at it that way is it?

Looks like VM have finally got round to reviewing the VIP packages, well the pricing anyway :-(

VIP20 now updated to VIP30 at a cost of £100.55 (£87.56 + £12.99 phone)
VIP50 now £109.55 (£96.56 + £12.99 phone )

Not too happy about that

What happens to the VIP Pack i'm on now? That woman who I spoke to to get the free HD channels for 6 months assured me it was going to be cheaper!!

I feel a bit cheated actually as I was going to drop the VIP there and then, but she persuaded me to hold out till after the 6 months when it will all be sorted!!

WTF is this all about? Surely this is for new customers? When I signed up to VIP50 on a new 12 months contract there was no suggestion that the price was going to jump up by about £14.00 within 6 months.

I must be missing something here, right?

Totally agree. I was expecting prices to rise a bit due to the VAT increase but this is way, WAY over the top.

If the prices are indeed accurate, and Virgin expect me to pay this monthly for my current package, surely I'll be able to raise some form of complaint to get me out of my 12 month contract?

Again I trust there is some error here, and I'm not reading this correctly. I can't see Virgin dropping this bomb on their customers. At this rate the VIP package, 100mb broadband and TIVO will cost you the same as your mortgage each month:rolleyes:

Are we just following each other from thread to thread complaining about this?:D

I propose we change the title to include one of my favourite primary school sayings. I'm pretty sure you'll understand the gist of it.

VIP/VIP+ Getting Bum Blasted

Probably not as PC as it was back in 1986 however it sums up my mood at the moment perfectly.

Yes that is quite a hike in price and with no addition of any new services - Tivo, 3rd box etc. I hope this doesn't effect existing VIP50 customers or I'll be pretty unimpressed.
