Some great overtaking from Jenson early in the race, shame for Rubens in his home GP.

Gz to Jenson and the Braun team :D

Anyone would have thought that they've won both titles:D

You would have thought after last year the organisers would have made arrangements for the World Champion to appear on the balcony if he wasn't in the first three.

Well done Brawn and Jenson.

Really pleased for JB & Team Brawn
Doesnt matter what people say about his lack of wins in the second half of the season, its points what count and they add up to JB being the 2009 F1 champion.

Brawn have dragged themselves up from the ashes of what was Honda (how gutted must they be) and done a superb job of development over the season to keep both JB & Rubens scoring points.

2 weeks finds a new circuit when JB can enjoy the drive and hoprfully we'll see Rubens come a well deserved 2nd in the championship.

Hopefully we'll see JB still at Brawn next season & I'm looking forward to the 2010 season already.

What will the papers say tomorrow

"He's only Brawn and done it" ?

---------- Post added at 19:55 ---------- Previous post was at 19:54 ----------

Buttin finish 5th, Hamilton finished 5th last year both become Champ.

The 5th year the title has been decided at Brazil

Well done Button and Brawn I knew he could do it.
It was a deserved win as well, he knew what he had to do, and went out and did it, against all the odds. Best race of the season. :woot: :hyper:

I must admit i did have my reservations about Jenson Button being a worthy champion but after that display i have to hold my hands up and say Blinkin Well Done lad :tu:
Proper drive from a proper world champ, did this business when it was needed, hat`s off to him.

SUPERB!

Cadbury's should make some limited edition chocolate buttons, with Jenson's face on them ;)

Ohh and if Cadbury's do make some, I'd be happy with a cheque for "consultancy" fee's :)

That was a champions race. It starting from back there is would have been soo easy to get involved in someone else's accident, or to be over cautious. Attack was the best form of defence crackign race even if planty of others threw it off the road.

:nworthy: Well done JB and Team Brawn.

Commiserations to Vettel and Rubens, but for a bit of reliability who knows what might have happened ??

All out for the finale now the pressure is off

I'm happy that there's a new British Chamion & Team but I do wish it wasn't JB, after his arrogance a couple of years ago at trying to dump one team for another I'll never be a fan of his....

Flyboy 19-10-2009 14:32

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

I think that was probably down to impetuousness of youth and inexperience. He was spurred on by bad advice and poor example. I too would not necessarily count myself one of his most ardent of fans, but I wouldn't want to take this away from him. I do feel disappointment for Rubens though. The most experienced man on the track and this is the closest he has ever come to the championship. I do hope it is not his last chance. I am not so sure if Brawn will be up to it next year. McLaren will have ironed out their little problems and will be strong contenders for next year. If JB goes to Williams it might be a good match, but I think he should stay loyal to Brawn and see what they have to offer (only my opinion of course).

Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button, who's the more arrogant? I know which way i'd vote, and it aint in a Frome type direction.

basa 19-10-2009 22:56

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

I think both of them can afford to be arrogant. You need to be to drive one of those things on a wing and a prayer.

Lets face it Hamilton was nurtured and tutored to World champ. Jenson fought long and hard along every inch of gravel and tarmac.

Jon T 20-10-2009 09:15

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Didn't a certain German future world champion jump ship from one team to another in dodgy circumstances(contractualy speaking)?

Arrogance is all around the F1 world, Button took a 60% pay cut, now I know it's not gonna cause him any hardship, but against other drivers of his calibre he has been getting paid less than his market value, to do that out of loyalty to the team/to ensure he was in a good car is no arrogant act in my book.

Re: Formula 1 2009 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

yes Schuey was signed to Jordan for the rest of the season then Benetton wanted him. At all flaired up at the Italian GP, Bernie said to him on the Thursday just go to sleep and it will be sorted by the morning and by then he was signed to Benetton with a big cheque going to Jordan.

JT has got the FIA presidency

Also I suggested to my partner a couple of days ago that although I don;t like him it would be interesting if McLaren pulled off a bit of a coup and got both british world champions as thier drivers.

as we know JT is the mouthpiece for MM so basically we still have the same man in charge. The cabinet he is using is the same one Max used and the FIA have actually lobeyed for JT all along which is something they aren't legally allowed to do

I suspect its more to do with getting Kobayshi upto speed for next year.;) Now that we know there will be no Williams/Toyota/Nakajma link I bet the Toyota head honchos want a homeland representative next year. May as well give him as much seat time as possible. He was pretty capable in Brazil, potentially one of the best Japanese racers for while.

Potentially ;) one of the best Japanese racers for while. Nakajima has had some good days, but has never really nailed it on a consistent basis.

Well guys the last day of the season is upon us..

I don't think anyone could have predicted the highs and lows of this year, with JB seemingly running away with the title early on in the season, through NPjr's allegations and subsequent ban of FB, then RB forcing the championship down to the penultimate race and finally finishing off with one of the most well designed tracks I've seen in a long, long time (that is though my own opinion ;) )

Probably nothing like next year which is gonna be a whole new ball game with more teams, no refueling and a new yet not very original fia president..

Well done the 2009 FIA F1 season for at least keeping us on our toes

Not a very remarkable race. Great push on the last couple of laps by JB, but should have happened a lot sooner. I suspect he only pushed because he had nothing to lose. Disappointment for Lewis; but hey, not a bad last half of a season.

The biggest surprise was the graphical presentation, representing the first corner after the start, I hope they keep that one in for next year's season.
