Randy Lerner is one of the best chairmen in the league. Despite being American he listens to the fans and always puts them first. Not suprising he's done something like this. He's often at games and you can see there's passion there, not just business.

What a truly awful game :td:

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Such a boring game. Neither team deserved to win.

Shouldn't have gone to Penalties. United were poor but Well Done to them in the end.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
I thought it was a decent game, chances for both sides throughout the match, it just lacked goal's. Fair play to Spurs, they didn't just sit back like some teams do against us, they really had a go. Although it went to penalties i think the better team on the day won, especially as we should have had a penalty in the second half.
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Chuffed to bits we won, gutted it was a bad game (has there been a good final at that place yet?) should have had a Pen and hit the post, we deserved it.
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
I applaud Spurs for there performance, and the way they held Man Utd, l do honestly believe, the game should have gone to a replay. Such as done before, This is the way Spurs have been built, my only moan is, why can't Spurs play that in the PL, Well played lads.

The boys in Pink, Oldham Athletic v Leeds.
http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/ne...g-on-the-blues I thought this was funny. 'Even Chaddy the Owl swopped his blues for pinks leading to complaints from Leeds players who said they were confusing the 8ft owl with Latics players!' :D Leeds fans haven't changed much over the years. The lone arrest was a Leeds fan who was charged with assault. He is alleged to have broken the back off a seat in the Rochdale Road Stand and flung it hitting one of his own team’s supporters.:( Jim. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
went to the Palace v Wolves game. Sat near the front so got soaking wet from the non stop rain and we lost :-(
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Watching man utd maul fulham yesterday i realised why utd are so good. In my opinion they are the only team in the prem that having a 3 goal lead with 15 min to go, still press for a 4th. Everyone else would have just sat back at 2-0 let alone 3 nil.

Can someone on this forum, answer me this question, I was told today that as Man Utd, COULD qualify for Champions league or another european trophy, Tottenham can play in the EUFA cup next season, as runners up in the Carling Cup - can someone confirm this. Cheers.

No ;) I think Arsenal v UTD will be the final.
UTD v Arsenal has the potential to be a classic - to the FA - CUT the effing grass!!! If Everton do us, I hope they win it, not cos of Everton, I like Moyes, he deserves a trophy. |

Even being a Man Utd supporter, that was a masterclass display from Liverpool, though it seems referees are the talking point, especially with the Juve-Chelsea game. What do we think, ball crossed the line or not? I reckon yes, but then I would. The penalty was harsh on Madrid though.

Re: Football : Season 08/09
Just goes to show how premium the Premiership is for football these days... that's 2 seasons in a row 4 clubs made the quarter finals. I just hope the draw keeps them separate for the quarters so the possibility of 4 in the semis exists.

Congratulations Liverpool, it just goes to show you CAN beat the big teams. I'm sure that victory will go a long way to securing the runner's up spot come May.
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Well done Liverpool, we were awful, fully deserved win for them. 4 points with a game in hand still, i think we will still go on to win it.
Well done Alan Wiley as well, thought he had a great game for once. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Liverpool were superb today. I don't think 'we' can go on and win it, as it's really up to Man U to mess it up, rather than anyone else having a great run at the end. It's still Man U's title - they've been more consistent overall (obviously).
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
You just knew it was going to be one of those games when Vidic of all people cocks it up like that.
TBH, apart from the Chelski game at OT and Fulham away in the cup they have not played that well all season, just got through on a rock solid defence and the odd stroke of luck. A kick in the pants is what is needed and if this puts them back on track then Liverpool will have done Man Utd a favour. Well played the Scousers.:tu: Jim. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Great game, can't wait to see it again on MOTD :tu:
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09
In all honesty Liverpool fans will come back down to earth when they lose to Villa in their next game. It's not results against the top 4 that will win Liverpool the Prem, it's the results against lesser opposition thats lost it for them.
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09

I shouldn't take the **** really considering my team is rock bottom without a hope in hell..but at least that's where we were expected to be ;) Also. What's peoples take on Stoke City with the long throw approach? Personally i think it kind of ruins the game? Could just be me, though?? |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
I dreamt - 1-0 Ronaldo Pen - HT - Pool 2-1 - Full time 3-2 UTD, was looking a bit creepy there for sec!
A great man once said - "There is a fine line between Creepy and Depressing, and an even finer one between Creepy and Drepressing leading to heavy drinking" |
Re: Football : Season 08/09

Over the ball tackles, diving, time wasting, shirt pulling, useless officials etc ruin the game. The long throw in is as legitimate as a free kick or corner and it hasn't exactly helped Stoke to any great heights has it. Jim. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
Agreed with the first part...but personally i'd rather see a team stay up that would rather 'play football'. And Stoke are only a few point out of the R zone, partly due to points accumulated from goals scored from the long throw.

Loving the back and forth. :D
Until I see the match on MOTD, I'll only say that Liverpool have had a good week with big results, and I hope for the Premiership's sake that they can keep it up against the lower league opposition, and then lose it at the death! I still fancy United to get 5 trophies this season, then beat whichever team comes out on top in the UEFA Cup for the Cup Winners Cup. |
Re: Football : Season 08/09
At least I wont have to keep hearing how Danny Murphy is the greatest Pool player of all time!
As much as I am filled with sheer hatred and contempt for all things Scouse atm ;) to be 4 clear, game in hand, gave Liverpool a six point start and with only Arsenal at OT left from the Big4 (so called) - I can't worry too much. Game in hand puts us 7 clear - will we loose another three games this season? If we do then we don't deserve it, and sorry, but if we don't Chelsea will. |

I dont care, united could be 10 points clear, it was sweet success, I think even everton gave us a better game. Was a pleasure to see the look on shreks face, and ferguson looking like an overinflated raspberry, united were worse than average. This could be a huge dent in uniteds confidence, the doubt could now creep in. Just like how you've been worse than average in the league for god knows how many years now, eh? Every team has a bad game/patch but it's how you come out of them that counts, we've shown time and time again we come out of them well, i reckon it's more likely the scousers will lose their next match rather than us. |

United are only seven clear when they win the game in hand, they might only be 5 clear after the game in hand. Makes the run in very interesting ;) |

The only thing that's cheered me up after today's game is the number is Scouse fans who seriously seem to think they're in with a chance of taking the league now....don't they realise the 80s are long behind us?
|
Re: Football : Season 08/09

Want to put a number to that? who scored the most goals in all competitions last season? and it was not united ;) Well united seem to have just gone into their bad patch, usually bad patches run for a while, how many league games are left? :) |

Russ, the old adage comes into play, while it is still mathmatically possible there is a chance, if we had lost today I would have conceded it would be virtually over, the lift this win will give the team will be immense, the 80's, was that not when fergie was almost put into a taxi? amazing how things change in football.;) |

Equalling the number of league wins will happen this season, if we go on to win the league that is, we're closing in and it will be sweet when it happens so you lot can stop living in the past :) We have been no where near as good this season as we were last and we're still 4 points clear with a game in hand, i don't know what that says about the other teams in the 'big four'? |
