I feel that if Henry had to face the kind of defender that those two did, he would have taken his ball home long ago. :)

Damien 17-04-2004 21:42

Re: Football talk

Rubbish the game changes just because its not the same as your day does not take any thing away from the current players. Its easy to look back though rose tinted glasses.

Anyway you are NEVER allowed to tackle from behind or without the ball and with henry you have to be fast just to do that. Look at the 4th goal he got tripped but as he fell he just pushed the ball up with his foot as he was falling into the goal. Brillliance

AFC Wimbledon

To all those Arsenal fans that think they are doing well, when you go 39 league games unbeaten have a goal difference of +129 come and talk football to the lads of AFC Wimbledon. :D

Lets not forget this is the team which was formed last season by the unhappy supporters of Wimbledon FC, they were unhappy abt the fact that the club was relocating to Milton Keynes. In only their second season in existance they are now runaway champions of the Combined Counties League with 111pts :Yikes: How many season before they play the other Wimbledon and overtake them in the leagues... Not only are they playing well they still get between 2 and 3 thousand at each home game which is just fantastic to see, especially to with all those people that said they would never last.

For those of you that don't believe me click here to see the league table and here to see the attendances they have been getting.

I give the other Wimbledon 3 years before they go out of business, serves them right as well. Let that be a lesson to every other club, keep the club where its roots are or die...

I wouldn't bet against them going up again next season as well, they are simply a different class to teams in their league at the moment and will be next season as well ;) another 6 - 0 win yesterday as well :disturbd: :D

Give them 7 years and they will be in the football league ;)

Clubs now the target of terrorist attack

A packed football stadium could have been the target of an al Qaida attack, it emerged today, as 10 people arrested in anti-terror raids were being questioned by police.

Suicide bombers may have been planning to attack Old Trafford and the City of Manchester football grounds, according to reports.

meh, they got class strikers.. but not much for the rest of their team.

Chelsea were sublime first half, I felt for Ranieri before tonight, but he messed the team around too much.

Do you think he may of been pressurised by Ambrom' to alter their play?

the thing with them is they have patience, solidarity, within there team, they dont do flying tackles or lunges.........i saw them play against real madrid and they were a patient team, they let you come to them and there defense played high up the pitch and kept ronaldo from getting the ball!!

Quote:

i dont know, ranieri has to rotate his squad so everyone gets a chance, but you have to play a team which you know is capable of winning and putting you best stars out, even if they are all multimillion pound signings you need to address the balance of who does what in certain areas of the pitch better........injuries can also be a contributing factor......

Rix kept his job at Chelsea after being found guilty of having sex with an underage girl. The decision prompted calls for the FA to show that it was not condoning abuse, and it has subsequently decided to alter its rules so that any other coach in Rix's position would automatically receive an additional FA sanction - possibly a life ban.

Well after just having watched United lose to Liverpool :( the one bright thing to see was the ever improving Ronaldo, if this improvement continues, he will become a legend at OT alongside Best, Law, Charlton imo.

ps It was so nice of Gerard to drag his foot onto Neville inside the box
but then again, Neville should know better than to commit to such a tackle like that.

Arsenal have played some excellent football this season and deserve the title, Man United have been well below par,.....and yet this season they have met three times, two draws and a win for United and Arsenal only managed to score once in all three games against a poor defence.

and eight Premiership title wins to three, they gave Brasil the World Cup outright after only three wins.

Quote:

APPROACH WITH CAUTION

Southampton boss Paul Sturrock is certainly holding his own in living up to his predecessor's eccentricities, but there'll only ever be one Gordon Strachan. So, for no reason other than we think they're great, here's some of the wee man's greatest hits:

Reporter: Gordon, Do you think James Beattie deserves to be in the England squad?
Strachan: I don't care, I'm Scottish.

Reporter: Gordon, can we have a quick word please?
Strachan: Velocity [walks off] :D

Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?
Strachan: No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said, "No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless."

Reporter: Gordon, you must be delighted with that result?
Strachan: You're spot on! You can read me like a book.

Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Agustin Delgado.

Reporter: This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you?
Strachan: You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you're spot on there.

Reporter: Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it?
Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump off a bridge.

Reporter: There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?
Strachan: Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick, down negative man, down.

Reporter: Where will Marion Pahars fit into the team line-up?
Strachan: Not telling you! It's a secret.

Reporter: You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon?
Strachan: I don't take stupid comments lightly either.

Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?
Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there....

I don't usually read this thread, but I am *SO* glad I took a peek at it today, because those were *wonderful*!

Someone who isn't afraid to tell a reporter that they're asking stupid questions!

Well I did cast doubts on your judgement regarding Germany. Tell me you still think they are a better team than England now. :)

I think so. To be honest most major european country teams are better than England. OK so there was the incredible 5-1 victory in Germany a few years ago but that was certainly a one-off. Holland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany etc, all may have had the occasional dip in form recently but have regularly enjoyed spanking England over the years.

Ah, so rather than defend your own national team, you take the easy option of criticising mine? Yes, that just about about sums up 90% of England fans....

Anyone fancy actually discussing this rather than shirking the issue?
