2nd v6

Having a long discussion with virgin regarding a 2nd v6 . Help forum says it must be connected by coax .she insisted that it can be either wireless or by hdmi as it is a 2nd box. She said she would let the forum know that the answer is wrong . Well guys which is correct . The worry is both answers come from staff at virgin !:erm:

Unfortunately, in my experience, they are totally useless and this is nothing new.

It's a shame that they aren't more like Ben & Spiderplant who clearly care enough to learn the facts to do their jobs properly & help others in their own time too.

Hopefully one of them will see your post & give you the correct information. I think I know the answer, but giving you something that's not definitive would only lead to more confusion.

All boxes require coax for delivery of the linear broadcast channels. The only things delivered by internet are On-Demand /App content.

Linear broadcast channels are only streamed by VM on their mobile/tablet Go app service.

What cheekyangus said. All VM boxes need co-ax.

(Did the agent really say "either wireless or by hdmi"? :shocked:}

Yes definitely said that, because it's a second box was the reason. now very confused looking at my virgin media Set up v6 box .then second box its seems to say that if you connect by WiFi or eternet .you pause on one box and start again on second box .Could this be what is causing the confusion. If l get it . It means you can not have 2 different channels on BUT you can start and therefore see what was / is on the first box Via the second one ?

Unless I’m mistaken, that applies to recordings, not live TV

As l read it watching live TV on box one .pause and start again on box two continue to watch. Not that l will take up this offer ( free box set up etc) as my splitter does just that.:)

You could press record to save the live buffer on the first box, then start watching that on the other.

Pardon the pun but are we not getting our wires crossed here? It looks to me that the op is looking to establish how the 2nd V6 is connected to the VM network, whilst the VM employee thinks the op wants to know how to connect the 2nd V6 to the original V6.

The answer to the first scenario is by coax (with F-connector) whilst the second scenario can be either wifi or Ethernet (with Powerline adapters in my case). Don’t know where HDMI comes in right enough.

But no customer would need to ask that. If you have two V6s, they are automatically connected together for multi-room streaming by virtue of being on the same Hub.

Ok so this what happen . Call out of the blue from l am told retentions .if I took new contract keep all as is plus a second v6 TiVo or 360. The only one l even thought about was v6 . Asked about set up didn't want more holes cables etc. Hence the answer. While thinking about it went to customer forum . That's what started it off . As I said no point unless can see two channels live at the same time .at least till university s are back :D
