Wii Virtual Console Games

Which games have people downloaded for the VC?

So far, I've only got Sonic... should I get R-Type or Bomberman on the Turbo Grafx next? I've not bought a Classic Controller, as I'm prolly gonna get a Wavebird or 2, so I am waiting on that before I get Super Mario 64.

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

I've downloaded Golden Axe and Super Mario 64.

Golden axe works fine with the wiimote turned sideways like a NES pad, although I remembered the game being harder! (completed it after about 2 tries)

Super Mario 64 works fine with the gamecube controller, and is as good as it was on the N64.

Now if nintendo could stop being so stingy and cheapen the games up a bit so I could get 3 from 2000 points!

How much is that in real money?

i saw some chap had got the games off the wii and uploaded them for others to download - but with mixed results not everyone could get it to work.

Doesn't surprise me... the games are tied to the console used to download them. Doesn't matter if you delete them, as you can re-download for free, but not sure what happens if you replace the console cause it's faulty.

By the way, the US have got Streetfighter 2 on SNES... anyone know if we're gonna be getting it some time soon?

SNES, Mega Drive = 800
NES, TurboGraphics = 500

The only reason I would buy a Wii, is if both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are released on VC, but I really cant see that happening. :(

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

GoldenEye would be awesome.......I haven't played that in so long.

As you say though, unlikely - bit of a rights/licensing issue at the moment!

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

Yeah, Golden Eye would be great...

I'm really looking forward to Mario Kart on the SNES too - more likely to arrive before GE I'd think. Also, as previosuly said, SF will be great when it's released here.

Also, I think playing with an emulator isn't comparable to playing with a proper controller, hooked-up to a TV, just like the good old days.

Sure it is :D

If need be you could always connect your PC up to the TV and use a snes-to-usb adapter :D

If you have a look around Game stores etc you can pick up very good Gamecube Games cheap. Like Mario Kart - Double Dash and Star Wars.
I love Star Wars - Rebel Strike. It had really realistic graphics considering the platform it was on.

I have still got a Gamecube but I will give it to my sisters kids when I get a Wii (Although I will keep the better games)

Is PilotWings going to come out as a VC game? I used to like that on the N64

Not sure about PilotWings on the VC, as Nintendo are releasing an updated Wii version of it, where you use the Wiimote to control the plane.

See here - Link

That's what you can get with the stars. You need to buy Wii points, which are £14.99 for 2000 which are different to the stars.

D_Skids 24-01-2007 21:11

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

I think Nintendo stars are a complete cop out.

Nintendo reward you for buying their products buying giving you stars and what can you get with them? Crappy wallpapers or ringtones that promote Nintendo games.

I know you can buy the odd game or better product but work out how much you have to spend to get enough stars, it is ridiculous.

I think they should let you trade them in for Wii points.

PS. The sames goes for the Game reward card!!

Gareth 24-01-2007 21:38

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

I thought they were allowing you to convert stars to Wii points... I'm sure I had an email from them saying this was gonna be happening.

You are right.

Also, if you are a registered member of the Nintendo of Europe website (www.nintendo.co.uk) you can purchase Wii Points in the Stars Catalogue. By registering Nintendo products (such as a Wii console and software) you are awarded Stars that you can exchange for various goodies, including Wii Points.**
From - http://wii.nintendo.de/23.html

But it does say Purchasing of Wii Points in the Stars Catalogue will be available at a later date.

I have just found my VIP card for the Wii and have entered it and what did I get 500 stars.
What a rip off. I get 250 Stars for a £40 game and only 500 for a £180 console.
It should be more like 1000 stars.

I will be interested in how they convert the value of stars to Wii points if they do do it.

I bet it will be something like 100 stars for 1 Wii point

i got 750 for my console, and 250 per game, I have 3., thats why I am wondering about the points thing, its unfair to give you something that can be translated as points

getting points instead of stars would encourage more people to buy more games to download even more......

Tried the news channel today, it's okay, but i doubt i'll use it much. I'm going to try and get some gamecube controllers tomorrow to have a go on Mario Kart 64 :)

Has anyone downloaded Mario Kart 64? Is it the same as the N64 version or have they made changes to it?

No changes. ALL Nintendo do, for better or worse, is slightly tweak the controls. So its the same sound, frame rate, graphics, bugs, problems and character of the games. Everything that annoyed/enjoyed about the game is exactly as you left it.

To me it seems not as good as I remember but still very enjoyible. The course design is so much better than double dash and really only the poor speed/graphics let it down as its not smooth.

Great game though

I bought Mario Kart 64 today and it's excellent :D Well worth the 1000 Wii points.

I got two Gamecube controllers today one official and one unofficial and only the official one seems to work on the Wii. Is that the case for all games or is it just Mario Kart?

Great game though

Apparently there is a bug:

Quote:

The second N64 game to hit the Virtual Console list, Mario Kart 64, was reported to have a bug - a Super speed Moo Moo farm. The people over at GoNintendo reports that they encountered the bug when they had a three-player game going on. Everything was going smoothly until they decided to race on the Moo Moo farm.

Apparently, every time they race on the Moo Moo farm, the game speed is about "double that of 150 cc". Some people already got used to the Moo Moo farm speed that when they are playing in normal speed, they found it to be too slow. Anyhow, to give you a clearer picture of how fast races are at the Moo Moo farm, check out the video below. And if you're also experiencing the same thing, tell us about it through your comments.

Dunno, mate... Not sure what controllers I've got, as I bought 'em 2nd hand, and also I've not had time to play SFII or MK, so I've not downloaded them yet. No time for any gaming at all for a while now :(

Will try when I get some spare time and will let you know.

Re: Wii Virtual Console Games

It must just be 'some' third party controllers because GAME have basically rebadged old third party GameCube controllers and are selling them as Wii accessories.

My official WaveBird works FYI.
