Change/delete primary email address

I am looking to delete my old blueyonder.co.uk email address, not least because it is being used as a return address by spammers and I receive hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of 'mail undeliverable' emails every day.

Is it possible to delete this email address? I can't see anywhere where this might be possible.

I have already changed my Virginmedia contact and login address to another one, and I've also changed any accounts that required my blueyonder email address. Would it be easier to just cut the offending address adrift and never access it again, or is deleting it the best option?

Thanks

Re: Change/delete primary email address

I had the same problem for 2 weeks before christmas, I opened Outlook 2010 and it would download 250 to 350 undeliverable emails, I changed my password and the number of spam emails delined but I was still receiving 50+ per day, I tried marking the emails as junk and blocking the sender but the still came through, I have run Malware Bytes & Security Essentials but didn't find any virus's.
Last week I fitted a new larger hard drive and re-installed Windows 7, Office 2010 etc and I haven't had a spam email since.
Hope this may be of some help.

Re: Change/delete primary email address

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think my system is actually sending the emails, but that my blueyonder address is being used by spammers as the reply address for their bulk emails.

I've migrated all my online accounts, the ones that use the blueyonder address, to my gmail account, and simply stopped importing from blueyonder. I'll check the blueyonder email account now and then to ensure I haven't missed anything in the migration.

Cheers
