I had a water leak from upstairs. Water coming from the ceiling in kitchen and bathroom, smoke alarms going off. I called Be One Homes (full marks, BTW, for responding even at that hour); they've made the electric fittings safe for now (to be replaced), they had the chap upstairs do some mopping to get rid of the worst of the water, and they've ordered a dehumidifier.

The super tried calling me. Usual response to unfamiliar numbers: check Who Called Me. The number was similar to spam, so I blocked it. All well so far.

But when I rang BOH Repairs to try to find out when this is happening, I was told they'd already tried to call me. Uneasy thought: "Um...that wasn't the call I blocked, perchance...?"

Immediate 'oops' feeling.

The number is of course deleted on my phone. Luckily I could call up History on Chrome, ascertain the number, call it - and discover it was the repairs supervisor.

Egg, face, apply. :erm: Plus hysterical laughter at my own slip-up!

Few years ago he ended up 28K in debt telling my daughter a gang had made me take out loads of payday loads under the threat of death. All lies to cover up his gambling and he recently done it again to the sum of 20K blaming my daughter for wanting to kit the house. More lies I have no idea what he is doing now I suspect he is still gambling. He pays the car and mortgage but that is it my daughter has to work and struggle to bring up 3 kids . They re- mortgaged once and both are now on IVAs. He is well paid but they are always skint. It is awful

So I am grateful for this show and kudos to Bradley for being part of it

I am having difficulties in reaching good consistent speed in my house network. I was hoping someone could help me gather some insight, so I can plan ahead.

is it a slow wifi standard like wifi 3? (30Mbps which is the most bandwidth i can get)

There are a few constraints in my house :
The walls are thick. Wifi signal is reduced, 5Ghz is useless.
The electricity on each floor appear to be on different boards viz the powerlan on the ground floor cant find the powerlan on the 1st floor.

Here are some figures
The Maximum Speed I seem to be able to get is 30Mbs on speedtest via the 2.4Ghz PG-9072LG-VM Access Point.
I can get 50Mbps via ethernet on the router


I live with other people and I cant determine if someone is over using the connection, but I believe they are, so often my connect slips down to 3Mbps

Unsure if its the ping command on repeat being ignored, but the router will be pinged 19 times at ~20ms and then sky rocket either 45 ms or 150-200 ms for one or 2 readings (unsure if this is just the ICMP protocol being low priority?)

I believe the powerline or wifi booster in use is a WiFi

As a Tenant in the house I m trying to find out what is going on, so I can plan to get better equipment or to lobby Vm for help fixing the connection ; although I have determined the connection runs at 50Mbps and seems to be working fine at the router.

Virgin Media O2 has expanded its Gig2 broadband service to 18 UK locations, making 2Gbps download speeds available over its hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) network for the first time. (This new tier is due to expand to the majority of its network in 2027)
