Thanks to Sirius who bought this to my attention but I think this is bad really bad

If you connect a Newer LG TV or Monitor it silently without asking pulls the LG Monitor controller and installs this on your computer . This software has system wide permissions and has access to the internet. Remember this asks no permission yet gets global permissions

Now this bit might just be in the US where GDPR laws are different to the UK and Europe but in the US their TVs are analysing pixels and reporting back what you are watching. Also in the small print it literally tells the buyer to inform anyone who visits that they could be recorded.

I mean wtf.

Yes we know Echo Devices listen as it is part of their model but your TV too.

I have a OLED TV LG connected to my PC and this installed the software silently I had no idea it was on my system. I went into group policy and set it so installs can not be triggered by meta data. Most people will have no idea about this. I have also disconnected it from the internet and will only give it internet to check for firmware updates. As I use this as a monitor I do not need Smart features

I am still going to buy the 65 inch version of this TV because I know this issue and can work around it. LG tend not to have things like freely and often not even freeview max so not the best Smart TV experience anyway and it will have a PC connected too it so I will not need Smart features anyway .
But there are a lot of people who will have no idea their new LG TV is spying on you

First off, I liked it. Having Superman lose a fight - and even sustain injury - was a bold touch. It also gave us a reason for Luthor's enmity beyond Superman's scuppering his plans. Loved the hypnoglasses retcon! Also the uncredited (which IMO wasn't fair to Milly) cameo of Supergirl was hilarious. Going to planets with red suns just to indulge her party girl side? And that's why Krypto is so badly behaved!

The revelation of why Kal-El's parents sent him to Earth was a bold stroke. For the first time, a reason other than his survival...and a new, if morally dubious, way to ensure Krypton's legacy. However, two minor criticisms:

1) Wouldn't the Justice Gang (a terrible name, I'm with Lois on that one!) have done something about it? Green Lantern's power couldn't be discounted - if anyone could fight Kal-El, he could.

2) The realism of the restored footage aside (and how clever to have Luthor go against precedent by not faking it, which touch confirmed its authenticity because he wouldn't be against faking it in the same way the sea is not above the sky), if Superman was intent upon ruling Earth and establishing a harem (genetic compatibility notwithstanding, though I suppose the tech of the Fortress could handle that), then wouldn't he just do it? Why wait, with his power? What would human resistance (leaving the Gang aside) matter to him?

Mind you, doubtless there were many women who'd jump at the chance...:p:

One thing I disagreed with, a little too bold, was Hawkgirl being willing to kill. The good guys are supposed to be better than that, and never mind making the point that she wasn't 'soft' like Superman.

But I did admire Kal-El's admission of imperfection. He does make mistakes, and it was well done to have him admit to them.

Loved Perry and Jimmy knowing Superman and Lois had hooked up!

All in all, a promising reboot.

Now if they could just do it with Blake's 7, or UFO...

China has hit out at the nationalisation of British Steel, saying it "firmly opposes and is strongly dissatisfied with the British government's decision".
On Thursday, the UK government said that taking the loss-making firm into public hands would protect jobs and safeguard a "vital national capability".
The UK took control of British Steel's operations in Scunthorpe last year, though it was still owned by China's Jingye Group, limiting the government's ability to steer its future.

I saw some admiring comments on the socials yesterday for the ‘brutal’ way in which this has been done - the legislation didn’t expropriate the company itself, it expropriated all the assets and transferred them into a new company which was then re-named ‘British Steel’, effectively bringing the entire operation and all its assets into state ownership while leaving the shareholders of the Chinese former owner, Jingye, with the liabilities.

The Chinese government is of course fizzing, and Jingye is, bizarrely, demanding compensation, despite the fact that it previously claimed the Scunthorpe steelworks was losing £700k a day, which presumably means the UK government has just saved them a fortune.
