I like many people get bored with the same car after a few years and think about the next one .

So thought a thread to it would be an ideal start to discuss pros and cons for cars .

The next one for me has to be a 4x4 but looking at the choice its a hard decision.

Got a Rover 25 at the moment, but I think if my Wife gets her way the next one will be one of the new Micras. Oh well, her turn, I suppose, I managed to talk her out of a Peugot 206 in favour of the Rover, last time.

I'm going to get the Honda Civic Type-R (as my personal car). I would like the Honda S2000 but with two kids it just isn't practical ('cos they will need to be in it occasionally).

VW golf. I got one as a hire car from work recently. I got the Golf TDi with only 5000 miles on it. It shifts!!!! VERY nice to drive and extremely well built. You pay slightly over the odds for a VW, but they hold their value and really are worth the money.

I got a little boy and the car is going to be just big enough for short trips with him in it, I'll have make as much room in the back for him as I can when fitting the rear seats, another month and it should be on the road fingures crossed.

It's just a kit, bits look like the TT, bits look like MG and from the back it's a bit like a beetle. Mine is not quiet the same as that, that is an X21 mine is an X99. Mine has square lights, more like the TT, and the fornt is a bit less cute.

Fast as hell, and will only cost me about £3000 on the road.

You can see an X99 here (http://www.realwebdesign.biz/x99/)

I don't know what my next car will be, but it will probably be sooner than I was intending. For the last year I've had a Focus Zetec and I would advise anyone to think before they buy one of these cars. I can't take away from it that it is a fantastic car to drive (handling etc.), but the build quality and the materials used on the interior leave a lot to be desired - cheap looking plastic inside and the exterior trim has started falling off after 2 and a half years.

Anyhoo, I'll probably get a Toyota Corolla, or something else sensible and boring ;). I like the look of the Alfa 147 but they're too expensive to run:(

I would love a lotus Elise.
Failing that something that has a really noisy turbo on it. Softtop. vented disc brakes all round and CD player.

Was gonna get a 206 HDI, but after taking one for a test drive I changed my mind. Then i tested a Focus TD coulda walked faster.

I know my current car (sierra Sapphire) isnt fast but I do like it.

dont know if anyone saw top gear on sunday?

they has this yellow 3 wheeled thing, the main 'cab' bit of it tilts as you turn the wheel whilst the engine block at the back stays firmly upright...cant remember what it was called (made by the dutch) but it was cool as **** - the short skinny presenter was verying on getting a sexul thrill outta driving it :)

one slight problem....it costs 22k :(

That would be a Smart Roadster then. Ok the turbo isn't that noisy but you could always fit a dump valve & it comes with paddle gear shift on the steering wheel

Yeah I saw that - it looked brilliant fun to drive, almost like the nearest you'd get to flying while on the ground. But £22K aargh!

Clarksons story about having to be driven home sitting in the back was funny.:)

Get a room! I'll look after the car.

I've had a Seat Leon Cupra for a year and a half now, I'd buy a new one tommorow. But I reckon atm I would get the Cupra R 225BHP, I didn't get one when I bought mine cos there was a 3 month waiting list.

Well, I don't own a car yet, but I will be looking to buy one in 2006. Most likely I'll get a Corvette. Probably a used C5, 1998 or 1999. I think that will do as a graduation gift to myself.

When will car makers learn that since Sinclair, C5 is a very bad name to pick for a car, Citroen have done it, now Corvette :D

If I were to go for a 'vette, i'd probably go for one of the classics (saw one out shopping yesterday).
The C5 is just a tad too rounded for my liking, and the "cockpit" is too far forwards for a 'vette, still, I'm sure it's a beaut to drive :)

Jerrek

I'd get a C4 is I can't afford a C5. C3, well, they're pricey. We're now in the range of either absolute crap for almost no money, or a well-cared for car that is over $80,000.

Although you can see, it's quite a lot different from the 'vette C5.
It's grey rather than red for a start.
