apologies first off if this has been covered before , so i run avast antivirus and kerio personal firewall , both have good reputations , when i go to nortons on line checker it tells me i have no firewall , useless antivirus etc etc etc :( , if i use any of the other online security check sites they come back saying the protection is spot on , is this just norton trying to make money or what :( , sad if it is true :(

i just ran that test with Norton inernet security installed. It failed on the Trojan test as port 1025 is open. Also failed the hacker exposure check as ICMP 23 and 80 were open

I have used Command CSAV, now owned by Authentium for over 7 years. On the odd occasions that I have used the Norton online checker it always tells me that I have no AV software installed. Either Command is good at hiding itself or the checker is flawed.
PS. I have never had a virus infection of any kind.:)

I ran the test and passed with flying colours.
Try grc.com (http://grc.com/default.htm) and run the 'shields up' tests (and a few others)

you will always fail the firewall test if you use the internet wont you?Not really, the links in post #8, view a detailed analysis of your test results, are still live and show ICMP as my only open port. I leave that open to stop needless firewall alerts.

Contact your AV company and let them know so that if they want, they can have words with symantec to update their AV list, otherwise they could end up losing customers.

CSAV isn't one I've heard of, and its likely NAV haven't heard of it either.
And at least they just recommend a "commonly used" AV product rather than specifically their own product

I passed the grc test but failed the Norton test first time. GRC only scans the first 1056 ports. Norton spotted I had a VPN port open on my router (its now closed).

I have Norton 2003 security.

lol - I ran the security check - and it proceeded to do a scan of the proxy server, then told me to get a firewall. I found it quite amusing. I didn't bother with the virus check.:pp

They have been around a long time, not well known on the High St but well respected, possibly a bit to expensive for most people, but it is a deductable business expense.:)
When I bought my last but one PC from DAN Computers over 7 years ago ,Command F-Prot came preinstalled and I have used it ever since.

Pity DAN went down the tubes, they did build good tackle, perhaps thats why they went bust.:(

Did that here too. Bit surprised that a well known port for a trojan horse is open and given the potentially the private information available on the proxy server's disk (see my thread about proxy server privacy concerns).

Ahhh, I remember F-Prot!Same, but different :) . Original F-Prot still available from Frisk software. I think the original Command AV used the F-Prot engine as their software had an acknowledgment to Frisk on the product info. they changed the name to Command CSAV before they were taken over by Authentium a couple of years ago.
